I like how the one sheep walked up to her like "Hi! You're our puppy dog? Cool, we can be friends!" Then went back to let others know it was all OK. Sheep and dogs make the best people.
I am totally amazed as I watch how my goats & sheep react to my Great Pyrenees & then to my stock dog. It's exactly what you described!! The animals just seem to instinctively know the LGDs & are calm & accepting around them, but they're instantly alert around the stock dog.
My adult daughter and I are beginning with a chicken farm and as we watched with keen interest in a possible solution to our predator problem, she commented that the sound of the rooster crow is such a comforting sound since we’ve learned that the flock is in relax mode while he is willing to crow, we smiled and enjoyed the whole experience. Now in our 4th year of egg production and learning to butcher we have lost perhaps 100 birds to predators. (Raccoon, fox, feral cat, bobcat, dogs, owls, hawks) We’re thinking about a guardian dog and this video is perfect timing. (We love watching your videos) Thank you , we are so encouraged by seeing your family and your work!
Careful keeping those dogs apart. The most brutal animal fight I have ever tried to fix was two Greats against two Borders. They don't mix well with sheep around. Most of the time if you need to bring them in from the field you just have to feed the Great and the sheep will follow. If they don't lock it up with it's food and let out the herding dog to bring them in.
I used to buy hay from a sheep owner and learned so much about them from her. I gave her a book , it was mystery told by the sheep. Three Bags Full was the title, a mystery to solve who killed their shepherd.
Well the coyote and fox will have a hard time getting lunch now :-) Breeders of the past speak with the animals we have today. Good breeding takes time.
Be very careful at lambing time. Our big male killed two newborn lambs and almost killed a third. Not a mark on them and no evil intent on his part. Having never seen a newborn lamb he kept trying to smell them and that caused them to run. He ran the poor babies to death without ever meaning any harm. He is fine with goats, ducks, rabbits, calves, chickens... everything but newborn lambs and he isn't trying to hurt them. He just wants to figure out what they are. I would suggest not letting her be around the pregnant ewes unsupervised for a while and then doing some introductions. The way we ran into trouble was Thundar being nearby at the moment of birth when the lambs were very fragile and the bond between mother and baby was so new. From the look of the dead lambs they were up and moving not long after getting the ability to stand.

maybe it is all in the eyes. In Scotland, a good-for-herding sheep dog has a 'strong eye', a look which is recognized by both sheep and shepherds.
What a perfect combination. Sheep and great pyreneese are such gentle souls! I think the roosters wanted some attention too😉😁
That was just beautiful.

I had a great Pyrenees collie mix she was the best family dog ever and will be forever known as the great vacuum destroyer .
😂
Absolutely enjoyed this video. Dogs are so much more than they are given credit for.
That has to be a really nice feeling adding more animals to farm. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Sheep look very healthy too. 👊🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Your Great Pyrenees is an excellent sheepdog
Another excellent production, thank you.
Our pleasure!
What a sweet dog . Took right to it .
Love the video about introducing the dogs to the sheep. Man, that’s the loudest rooster!
that rooster is probably Maverick.
Nicely done!
JUST BEAUTIFFUL!!!!!
Awesome!
This was amazing! I love being on the farm with you and your family. Love the sheep and dog. Very interesting and peaceful.

two breeds divided by their different approaches to sheep management.
What I would give to be there. So love dogs n sheep
Oh so sweet....🐑🌾🍇♥️❤️💛💚💙💙💜
We are harvest host members. Lots people with ranches and wineries make room for a couple of self contained RV campers.
We've been considering it too!

Lovely, patient handling... wish my parents never sold their sheep ranch in Monument, Oregon a few decades ago. I'm a desert rat now.
Loved this

Thanks for the tip! We'll be sure to rework their pastures come lambing season.
Algorithms.....🤪
🇨🇱🇺🇸✝️❤️🙏
What breed of sheep are they?
Tunis
She looks trained already though🤔🙏🏻
Trained to our general commands, not previously trained on sheep. She has done amazing though!
