Vietnam is really great. I have never seen Vietnam like this. Often people think of bad things here. But when I listened to this video, I found Vietnam so beautiful. Thanks Allan Su!
This is one of the very best vlog on Hanoi I've seen in ages. I love your introduction, your art house cinematic approach and the way you've captired the romance of this city. Great narration accompanied by recommendations of places to eat and see. Well done Allan Su!
This video gave me a serious Anthony Bourdain vibe, well done! You should try more videos in such format....
Man you really killed it with this video. The voice over, the b rolls, and overall look of this video is so nice. Vietnam is part of my backpacking trip that’s starting this March, and I’m looking through different yt videos and this one is one of the best.
Thank you Buddy! Hope you enjoy Vietnam
Why didn't I find this gem of a video for so long. Amid a paraphernalia of vlogs on same-old, cliched touristy stuff, this subtle, but vibrant, narrative on Hanoi stands out. Allan, you introduce us to Hanoi like no else and piqued our curiosity as we give last minute touch to our itinerary for Vietnam. Thank you for this video. :) 👍
This is a great video! I love the video documentary style and your narration was amazing. A great refresh from all the videos that I had watched on this beautiful city. Great job Allan, looking forward to watch more of your contents.
Great narration and great video ! Im going to hanoi solo end of this year. Thanks for the food and bar recommendation
Hey Adrian! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hanoi is filled with backpackers, so if you don't plan to be completely solo during your whole trip. Then you should check out the many hostels around the old quarter. Have fun!
good video ~gOOD!!~~^^
I loved riding a scooter in Hanoi..what an experience
This is so dreamy and beautiful ! ❤️can’t wait to be rich and travel✨
My favorite thing about this video is how beautiful it is to watch. You've clearly put a lot of effort into grading, visual effects, and scoring. It really makes a difference. Love the use of maps too. One question I had that you didn't address is how easy it is to get around using English. Given that your audience is largely English speakers, this seems like a question worthy of addressing.
What a great, helpful video. So many videos are about self portraits and face time, so yours is a breath of fresh air. I stopped the video about 25 times so I could take notes...thank you!!!
Best vlog by far on all of UA-cam.🎉
A great video we'd agree.
Great video Allan! I will be going to Hanoi later this year and this gave me a good idea of what I can do and see. I’m really looking forward to my trip there. Thanks for making the vlog, because it made my choice better.
Can't wait to visit next February.
I appreciate the information and tip about transportation, because other travel guide channels don't usually include this important tidbit.
Great video Allan! - Hanoi looks a great place to explore.
I love all your videos, but this one has the best narration.
Excellent quality video with professional looking cinematography! I'll look forward to watching more.
Hanoi .. one of my favourite cities in the world ..definitely in Asia
Indeed ;)
Your videos are so good. We saw your Faroe Islands video and then started watching all your travel videos starting with your first. Great content.
ive been there twice now and your video is honest , the best parts and food, beer ect is outside the old quarter, great place to visit or live
Great vid,. Your narration and editing are spot on.
Thank you! :)
This video is meditation for me. Thanks for the inspiration to move to Hanoi.
Going to Ha Noi next week... thanks for this great video. Looks lkie Bia Hoi is just around the corner from my hotel.
This is my first time coming across your channel & believe me it's awesome... Please keep coming up... Cheers to you ...!!!
Great video! Keep traveling
Severely underrated channel.
This was beautifully shot and edited; thank you for showing us around this city from your view
Nice tips! Thank you for that
great video, I can see a lot of thought and work went into this video. Thank you for your advice :)
What a beautiful video you have made!
Very good! Catching the real essence of the city, here Hanoi (one of the most interesting i SE-Asia). Not the ordinary travelvlogs, where some (western) "vloggers" walking around with cameras on a selfie-stick, mostly taking pictures of themselves when trying to describe a place.
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Loved your video!!! Keep going the good work!!!
Thank you Allan, very interesting and professionally done
Thanks for watching John
Introducing of this video is excellent
Thanks. I'm going to Hanoi in a couple weeks
You forgot to say "Sike!".
@@kingchakazulu7762 Huh?
@@kingchakazulu7762 really, what were you talking about? I *did* go to Hanoi. I wasn't joking.
Shout out to the bunny guy at 14:41
thanks brother i am from Ha noi, thanks for sharing our city
What a great video!
Love my hometown
nice video and I will visiting 3rd times at Hanoi soon :)
Thank you! :)
Very good narrative!! Thanks for this. Think I understand Hanou better now.
Glad it helped!
beautiful work. 😊
Great video. Thank you for that
Thanks for the video! However I found it a bit difficult to hear you over the background music. Especially the part where you recommended where to stay at 4:37, I wish I could figure out what you said.
I recommend staying near Hoan Kiem Lake if possible.
Thanks so much Allan! Your video was helpful! I can't wait to go!
@@allisoncrawford9645 You're welcome! Let me know if you have any other questions.
good video ~gOOD!!~~^^
Nice video bro. Subbed to support you. Keep up your good work😘
what's the name of the first song? the piano/violine one? it's so beautiful!!
please please please tell me the name of the instrumental/song that start on 11:49, I'm going to Vietnam and id love to make a video with this song
What are the best places to perform karaoke in Hanoi? Also how far is Hanoi from Vietnam??
Thanks for the awesome video mate. I'm flying to Hanoi in less than 2 weeks. Do you think taking online grab ride (motorbike) is a good option for a solo traveler. Having read about scams in Hanoi made me a bit doubt about it :)
i lived in Hanoi
does anyone happen to know what song is from 11:50 to 14:02? Thanks in advance!
Do any of you guys know what music is playing at 12?
Макар Макаров it’s Vietnamese song, name of song: Ngay Sau Se Ra Sao, singer Y Linh. This is very old song
Макар Макаров guy, sorry, the singer is Hoang Oanh
Welcome to VietNam
I'm so fucked. I can't stand fresh coriander lmao. And they serve it with everything.
is weed smoking legal there ?
Yes u can do weeding for free
@@jamir2602 :)
economic growth does not automatically mean that people are happy. So stop saying that people are happy! It’s a facade.
And where am I saying this?
"ITS OKEY" , i got so terribly bored of this video. Sorry !
I'm from Hanoi and it's a really beautiful intro
Great intro, very moody and atmospheric and slightly fuzzy, a bit like how you feel after an hour or two at a bia hoi joint!
The best description I’ve read so far
Spot on!
Dirty, corrupt officials, noisy. I suggest you not to visit Hanoi. It was a terrible experience for me in Hanoi.
Am besten auf Hanoi verzichten!
Great job on this. Your ability to narrate these videos are top notch.
Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated!
To anyone looking for the song at around 12:00, it is "Ngay sau se ra sao" ua-cam.com/video/uOmPDuVezU8/v-deo.html
Excellent review! I'm heading to Hanoi in a few weeks and really appreciate the insight. What are your thoughts on eating herbs with pho? Does dunking them in the brother necessarily rid them of contaminants? I'm from Canada and eat Asian cuisine regularly, just trying to avoid any digestive distress!
Well, I will try to avoid any unknown random places if you have a sensitive stomach. Only go to busy food vendors which have tons of good reviews. I think that would be the safest bet.
Really good content and nice video. I find it nostalgic watching such a depiction of my hometown.
REALLY great video and info! Early on I was getting heavy vibes or Erwan's overnight series, but this is far more comprehensive and less focused on bar-hopping and nightlife.
Thank you! Instant subscribe!
Thank you Chris! Much appreciated
Absolutely. And much less hectic.
I agree 😂 Crossing the streets of Hanoi is a matter of life and death 💀😅
Love your content. Hooked on it actually. You do a great job. Hanoi is on my bucket list. Will visit it some day.
Oh man your content are so documentary and underrated. Truly talent and worth watching.
Really good. Thanks for your time and effort. Can’t wait for our visit
Thanks for watching :) hope it helped out
This is tv worthy. Beautifully done.
Thank you!
You’re very welcome. I wish you well, my guy.
Very cinematic, BTW, what's the name of that Vietnamese song from around 12 mins, thanks.
great job good luck great narration
Hope to visit comes April 2020 thank u for sharing dis amazing video
I'm going to visit hanoi vietnam next year!
best video
Cool vid! Really helped us get around, we now made a vlog about Hanoi too, thanks for the inspo!
Great video I really enjoyed watching this reminds me of a chilled documentary more than a normal travel video
I love it, Love video and love you!
*vietnam motorcycle tours loop bike tours* so great, I just had a tour to hanoi last week
Great video!!! I loved Hanoi!!!
Hi, were r u frm?

Not just Obama, the late great Anthony Bourdain invited him there.
I've been to saigon. I would love so much to visit Hanoi next time.
Excellent video. Thanks a lot!
beautifully shot and edited! :)
Meraviglioso video, meraviglioso Hanoi
💙💙💙
Is it difficult to travel vietnam as a vegetarian ?
Not at all
This is stupid, you’re recommending wrong dishes for Hanoi
Banh mi isn’t big in Hanoi like it is in the South. It is available but Hanoi people never consider it as a highlight of their traditional cuisine
Banh xeo is a Southern dish - do not eat it in Hanoi. It will be bad
Some dishes that are traditional in Hanoi:
- Banh cuon Thanh tri - rice flour cake from Thanh Tri
- cha ca la vong - fish noodle
- mi van than - Hanoian version of wonton noodle
- chao suon - pork ribs congee served mainly in the morning
- bun cha - grilled meat noodle
- bun thang - a special noodle dish
- bun moc- another special noodle dish of Hanoi
- bun mang Vit - bamboo and duck noodle
For dessert - banh troi, che (all different types)
Drink juice from the sau fruits
Lol I’m kinda also mentioning two of the dishes you just listed but seems like you missed that. And I agree with the banh mi thing, as I already stated that same thing in the video. These are just suggestions for tourists, and for many they might have their first banh mi in Hanoi, regardless of whether it’s better in the south or not. In the end, this video isn’t solely focused on food recommendations, it’s just a few suggestions.
Allan Su Banh mi isn’t consider hanoian cuisine. It is eaten but it is like a snack. No Hanoi people recommend Banh mi to visitors. But they will take you to eat various noodle dishes that are special and important to Hanoi people such as Bun Thang and Bun Moc. These two dishes are very important to Hanoi people
@@Lol-ok9kl I agree. But I think you're missing the point here about Banh mi.
I never said Banh mi was a hanoian cuisine and I even said it's not as popular in the north. But it's one the most famous vietnamese dishes in the eyes of foreigners. As most foreigners who come to Vietnam for the first time will either visit Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh, it's only natural they would want to try a Banh Mi, even if they are visiting Hanoi. I'm, therefore, only making suggestions for those who are still interested in trying a banh mi in Hanoi.
You recommend staying in *which* area? I couldn't make out what you said, even after listening a few times :-\
Near Hoan Kiem Lake or basically the old quarter
@@AllanSu cool thanks! :)
Cos Im going!!!!
Good to hear!
I miss Hanoi 😢
It looks amazing
Lower the music next time bro. Couldnt hear you talk
Intro is a bit too long for my taste and the overuse of effects gave me a headache. Some good info here though.
