    In this project, we will convert an ATX power supply unit (PSU) into a bench power supply, capable of delivering adjustable voltages and currents upto 24 V and 10 Amp, which can be used for testing and powering electronic circuits as well as for battery charging.     You are a gem. The way you explained everything is understood to me as I'm literally a layman and not an electrical engineer or even not an electrician. Just some mediocre knowledge of electrical units.
    I've seen similar videos converting computer power supplier to a variable power supplier with same module. Some have used the same potentiometers with cover of bigger potentiometers ignoring the fact that potentiometers provided with module are meant to use occasionally. They are not recommended for bench power supplier where one may use them every time with different devices or circumstances. You rightly used potentiometers which should actually be used in bench power supplier.

    In every ATX Power Supply unit contains a 'Supervisor' IC like KA7500 ,CG8010 etc. As soon as a floating negative (-12v) is taken as main Ground for the said Buck Converter with respect to +12v of the main SMPS unit, the 'Supervisor IC' will trip the supply unless necessary modifications are made.

    I have done the same with the board purchased through the link of description. I have added multi turn potentiometers. But when turned clockwise the current and voltage are decreasing but for anti clock rotation increasing. The led connected externally is also not glowing. What may be the problem? Hope it will be answered soon

    Hamne isko banaya hai, kindly check link. Little modified for charging or load more then 2 amp current, otherwise negative side first recovery diode will damage.

      Replace a first recovery diode, with high amp and attached a heatsink, it's work perfectly fine.

      By using - 12v you will get max 0.5 (half) amp current. On 24 volt max current will be 0.2 (less then quarter amp) .

    One question. +12v and -12v together will give how much current, because -12v section has a little current in PSU.

    I have one question regarding Digital VOLT AMMETER connection. Among the 3 thin wires yellow goes to positive output. And red goes to buck converts(300w) output + terminal. But what about black wire?
    Which is the correct seen many videos all have different.
    1) Not connected
    2) connected to buck converters output negative.
    3) added LM7812 at buck converters o/p and given safely 12v to power up the digital V/A meter.
    As per me the 3rd ne should be correct but all of above cases are working... Pls help me.

      Voltage is always a potential difference between two terminals
      There is a 24 volt difference between - 12 to + 12

    Sir, mere do doubt hai. So kindly clarify kar dein.
    Apne -12V wire ko as a ground treat kiya hai jiska maximum current capacity 0.8 Amps hai.
    1. As +12V line me 14 Amps current flow kar rahi and -12V me 0.8 Amps, to kya reverse current ka koi issue aayega??? Kya humein koi diod use karna chahiye?
    2. Kiu ki -12V independently 0.8 Amps ke liye designed hai, to -12V line ke saath attached diods vi kam Apms ke honge. Agar is power supply ko hum more than 7 Amps ka load de to kya -12V line ke saath attached diods burn hone ka chances hoga? if yes, to kya humein kuch further modify karna padega?

      I have tried the way mentioned in this video using +12 v and -12 v for making it 24 v power supply. When I used the supply in 20v and crossed 2 amps of current the power gone shutdown because of the autocut protection circuit present in the power supply. I cannot use for any appliances where more 2 amps of current is required.
      Sir, is there any way to come out of this limitation? And if yes then how to do that?
