I love Holbein Sap Green. Also, I love the Daniel Smith one that I have because its the original PG7/PO49. Try mixing it with W&N Payne Gray or Schmincke Paynes Gray blue shade. Its a beautiful deep shadow green. As for the MGraham Sap Green, thin it down with water to the same value as the others and it will be just as transparent. The more solid & pigmented the watercolor paint, the more opaque it is. You need less of it. MGraham according Bruce at handprint.com tested as having the highest pigment load of all brands he tested which is a lot. Thanks for sharing! So fun to watch.

Thanks for your comment. I agree that m graham color for color has the highest pigment of any other brand . They are my favorite. I used all of them at full strength to demonstrate that . I do think that even watered down though their sap green is a bit semi transparent. Opacity has to do with more than pigment strength but also pigment properties and particle size as well. I think that pigment particle size in the sap green is larger because it also seems to granulate a little and that would explain why . But I do really love it for that reason in landscape and foliage . So natural. You are not the first person to tell me I have to try holbein sap green. It really sounds amazing and I want to know what I'm missing out on lol. Thanks for your mixing suggestions! Much appreciated 🙂

@@nicolemartinart5819 Yes. It's the Isoindolinone yellow, py110 the MGraham thats semitransparent even though it's listed as transparent in most brands. Its one of my favourite yellows and MGraham's py110 is their Indian Yellow. I like mixing my own sap green with pg7 (phthalo green bs) and py110 (Isoindolinone yellow). It's beautiful!

Holbein is by far my favorite sap green , I switched to Daniel smith this month just to use my tube up and try not to buy so much… but I don’t like it the same! I always have Holbein sap and olive side but side and I mix them usually or use sap alone, but DS is more close to my olive from Holbein already… I’m so looking forward to switching back! Lol

I agree with you on this. They are all beautiful but once you explained it I can see how the winsor Newton is more versatile.

Thank you so much for watching. It's funny I really love the Daniel smith in a swatch but I do have a hard time getting clean mixes. It has a tendency to make my foliage look a bit like its gone by. If I'm not careful since it has that yellow orange undertone.

Great video! Qor sap greeen is my favorite, its similar to Daniel Smith sap green but it has more depth in my opinion and it glazes better than any sap green Ive encountered. I love these kind of paint comparison videos. Thanks for sharing...PS. I apologize if I comment on a video more than once, I watch tons and tons of art videos and forget which ones Ive watched, so i may watch your video twice and comment each time. I apologize.. lol...

No need to apologize, I appreciate your comments and support 😊 . Do you use the Qor watercolors fresh from the tube or work from dried pans of color ? I had heard that Qor watercolor was very hard to rewet but I wouldn’t know since I only had a DOT sampler when they first came out .

@@nicolemartinart5819 You are very welcome♥️ So I dry all my tube watercolors down into pans. IMO my dried down Qor watercolors rewet the same as any other artist grade watercolors (without honey). I rarely pre-wet my pans before use unless Im painting with particularly difficult pigments like PG18 or PG23, etc.. but if a person prefers paints that never truly 'set up' in pans like M. Graham or Sennelier; then Qor, Daniel Smith and Winsor and Newton may seem hard-er to rewet and if thats the case you could mix in a little honey or glycerin into freshly squeezed pan paint...But personally I dont find Qor difficult to rewet at all-(and embarrassingly enough I have A LOT of professional artist grade watercolors to compare them too)...They are beautiful and fantastic and I recommend them 100%. I hope this helps♥️ and sorry about the long response, I guess Im super passionate about watercolors...lol..

@@nadeaner.cowley513 me too ! So dont be sorry ! I read a review that said the Qor colors dried into rocks and then when reset the colors were very pastel , no saturation so other than that dot card I had I never really invested in trying more after reading that but I have always wanted to try the high chroma set 💕 the colors look so bright and candy colored. Do they mix well with Daniel smith or other brands since they have a different binder? Thanks so much for your thorough response 😊

I don't want to tell you how to teach... but I would like to see the mixing pallet in frame. I think it's helpful to give an idea of ratios, and to see all the colors going into a mixture.

So, for a while my go to sap has been M Graham, but I think it dries a little dull. I broke out my Mission Gold sap which use very similar to the WN and I like the mixes better but I think I like Mission Gold's hooker's green the best. I've yet to try DS and I guess I missed out when they made it with real quin gold before they ran out. That was suppose to be amazing. I usually mix something in with my sap, either a yellow or a blue, rarely use it by itself. The M Graham one.
