WOW!!! This is such an inspiration piece! You have taken something basic and the scarves with meaning from your past and turned it into a VERY High End top that would have cost you hundreds of dollars in the shops. You get a standing ovation from me! Well Done!
Thank you so much! I really love this sweater as well - simple, yet effective, can be dressed up and down. I love when clothing can be personal, with a story and wearable, as well :) Thank you, Linda!
Thank you, Nancy! I think I am going to get a ton of wear from this one this season and many upcoming ones as well, I am so happy that I got to reuse the scarves and make something special!
Thank you so much for your videos!! You have really inspired me to create garments for myself!! I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me just right and I am thrilled to be able to custom make some for myself. I have sewn very little since I was a kid in 4H, but it is coming back to me!! I wanted to add a tip that is working like a dream for me. Because I am relatively inexperienced with sewing, I have been using landscape fabric to make test garments. I can get 4ftx50 yards of it at the local home improvement store for around $7 and it can be sewn on a machine. SO I can make a really cheap mock up to make sure the pattern is correct. I have taken to cutting the patterns out of the landscape material as it is easier to pin through than the paper I was using. Thought I would share with everyone. Can't wait to see what the next projects would be!
I love how you're making more upcycling / altering videos. In this age of massive consumerism, wastage and climate change, many of us have lots of clothes that we don't wear. It's nice to learn proper techiques to upcycle those clothes, instead of the dubious methods employed by content creators who have hardly any knowledge about tailoring.
That sweater is lovely and so are you. Thank you for all your inspiration and wisdom. I am improving and may post a video of my creations someday with a shout-out to you and the other kind folks on UA-cam that make sewing a fun hobby.
Oh Alisa, you are so tiny and talented! You can take a brown paper bag and make it beautiful on you 🤩 I’m so glad did demonstrate putting knit and something non stretchy together because I actually tried it only because that’s the two fabrics I wanted together (because I don’t like showing my arms) not because I knew what I was doing 😆🤪 but, it came out ok 🤷🏻♀️and I wore it to my friends son’s wedding.
Noooooooo, a paper bag would still be a paper bag on me, lol :) thank you for a sweet comment! Yeah, gotta be careful when working with knits and woven in one garment, just have to keep in mind the ease, and the properties of the garment, what needs the stretch and what does not, what stitch to sew it with, but other than that - it is doable :)
That is lively, almost looks like you have a tank top on top of a beautiful lace top except the cuffs bringing it together. Fabulous. Plus it really suits you. 😍
Gorgeous! Thanx for doing the hard part...the thinking, for us! I ❤ the combo of lace with knit. 😊 Definitely going to make one similar to this one, as well as your cardigan! You inspire creativity! 🤗
Absolutely lovely - well done! I really like that you share your thought process and the challenges you face along the way. Thank you for your videos. A really great result. 👍.
That is gorgeous! Honesty, at the beginning of the video I was thinking that the color of the fabric wasn't going to work....but it really looks amazing. I've been watching your channel for years and I've been so inspired by everything you make. I've started making Cosplays for my daughters, who love anime', and it's been so fun to see the outfits come together and look so good. I have so many of your videos saved, so I may be ready to make something for myself soon. Thank you for making everything look so easy and for giving me the confidence to just try it!
You remind me so much of myself when I was your age. Putting this sleeve on that dress, making jackets out of drapes, and so much more. I just love your enthusiasm and your getting the message out there to try something new. Especially when it involves scraps. Well done, a really nice make.
This sweater is absolutely stunning! In 2014 or 2015 I had purchased a gorgeous sweater from Gap Outlet when I worked there. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately while trying to figure out what are my favorite styles from clothing I’ve had in the past to now so that I’m creating styles I love and that I feel comfortable wearing! Also…it will make sewing my own wardrobe even more fun! And this sweater from Gap Outlet is one that came to mind. It was a scratchy light grey sweater with beautiful non stretch lace sleeves that barely fit my upper arms. This is one sweater I want to remake so bad, but with a wider sleeve. Maybe even a bishop sleeve. There’s a dead stock store where I live and they have a whole wall full of stretch lace fabric so I may go that route…we shall see (I’m not sure if that would be the best idea). I love the fabrics you used for your sweater and that scarf your mom made you is gorgeous and you gave it a beautiful second life! ❤🫠
Wow! That is so beautiful. It looks really good on you. This is timely because I received a small amount of sheer fabric and I have been playing around with the idea of using it for sleeves on a knit top. Now I am going for it! Thanks. 😍😍 Awesome job
That was amazing and so lovely we worked through the process of making a plan with you to complete the project. It is always so cold in England I am going g to use a voile printed scarf as sleeves with denim or knitwear and even recycle fron t and back of old pullovers taking cuff from the old sleeves. You have inspired me x
Beautiful! You make it look so easy 😊. Have been trying to alter clothes to fit better but haven't built up the courage to use clothing for fabric to make items yet. Learning so much from watching your videos. Thank you!!
Wonderful sweater! I love your projects, and this is a winner. I love it, and the way you explain your project is perfect even for beginners. Thank you! 😀
Oh my goodness I love this top you did a great job. I love watching you. I think you are so very smart. The sweater is beautiful. I wish I could do that people give me clothes all the time and I don't want to get rid of them but I don't know what to do with them.
WOW!!! This is such an inspiration piece! You have taken something basic and the scarves with meaning from your past and turned it into a VERY High End top that would have cost you hundreds of dollars in the shops. You get a standing ovation from me! Well Done!

Standing ovation is right!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻bravo 😁💐
Exactly! Well said.
And the lace seam looks like it's been French seamed anyway!
I think this project is LOVELY! WMF the fact that your mom made that lace ❤ special! Great job!
Alisa........Drum Roll!!!!!
It's another...Home Run!!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Nancy! I think I am going to get a ton of wear from this one this season and many upcoming ones as well, I am so happy that I got to reuse the scarves and make something special!

Totally agree! Love how you include your viewers in your thinking processes. ❤️
Fabulous 🤩 even though the sleeves are not exactly like you imagined, I think it still has an indication of a fuller sleeve. Job well done 👍.
Simple, Classy, & beautiful!!

Thank you so much, Anna!
WOW this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I would wear this in a heartbeat!!! 💕💕
The sweater with the lace sleeves is breathtaking!!

Beautiful sweater that has an elegant aspect but can also be a casual garment! You are inspiring.
