I just described it as "that squeal sound you get when you pick behind the nut."
@nobberz62 - they call it "attacking" the strings.. works best when youve got the guitars volume and the amps gain (or pedal distortion) way up. Pick the strings very hard right above the nut (underneath the tuning pegs) and you'll get that sound. It can be palm muted like any other note. Enjoy, young padawan.

@arex82 it depends on what shape your head stock is, his guitar is custom you can't do that on a guitar that is a fender of a Gibson
