The book looks amazing, your work is just perfect for picture books I love the characters, I think lots of children (and adults) will really love it! Thankyou for sharing your process :)
I just would like to say you should be really proud its amazing. I can just imagine this being in the library. I cant wait to order the book Merry Christmas to you and Tom x
Absolutely amazing! Love the art style and choice of colours! Just bought the book and love it so much. I’ll be recommending it to all my family, friends and anyone we know who has loved ones with anxiety, autism or strong emotions. A great book! :)
Congratulations, Emma! What a wonderful book 😍🙌! I especially loved the disco scene. I've been working on my own little book for a year on and off alongside a full time job and it's progressing very slowly. One question what I am currently trying to solve, is how to show emotions on plant characters. I wouldn't like to add heads to them but they do need some eyes and mouths and face expressions. How would you go about it? I'd love to hear if you have any ideas. Thanks very much, I appreciate your videos 🤗🙏!
Thanks so much! 😊 Aw plant characters sound cute. I would give them faces, it's hard to do emotions without that (although it can be done, I'm thinking of the Pixar lamp 😄) I would also give them leaf arms, just so you have something else to move around and express themselves. Good luck with your book!
@EmmaCarpenterIllustration Thank you very much Emma! Yes, the plants absolutely need arms and yes, they do need faces as well after all - can't get away from it so I'll just have to be inventive. Vegetables and fruits are easy and fun to anthropomorphise but it's the tiny and slender plants which are giving me headache 😏 but I guess I better get to work despite my aprehension 💪🏻😆
Thanks for this great video, Emma! I've missed hearing from you! Congratulations on completing this wonderful project. Puffy looks great! I can't wait to hold her in my hands! You've done a great job setting your intention and focusing your attention on this big project. You and Katie must be so happy! I love the way that you are able to create characters and environments that enhance and move the story forward. Brilliant! A very Merry Christmas to you and Tom! Thank you for being you!
Aw thank you Lauren 🥰 I hope you enjoy the book. Hopefully they'll be more videos from me in 2025, I'm not sure how often, but I'll pop up now and then 😄I also want to create more picture books next year , and go back to some of my own projects too. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas too! 🌲
Oh my goodness, you did a fantastic job on Puffy!! He is so adorable! Congratulations on illustrating another book and thank you for the step by step guide. Sounds scary but yet not too bad. Merry Christmas to you and Tom :)
Thanks Bev 😄 I can relate to big projects feeling scary! It always feels less daunting to me if I break it up into little chunks. Wishing you a very merry Christmas too! 🌲🌲
@@EmmaCarpenterIllustration I do not doubt it. I meant a book deal from a *publisher*! Perhaps you need one more book to make it a magical three for your portfolio. Then the offers will be beating your door down? I can't remember if you have a book agent or not. Maybe you can do a post about agents. In any case great work. ❤
@@EmmaCarpenterIllustration A literacy agent? or a literary agent? 🙂 My goal this year is to start my channel. I'm in the middle of a badly-gone move, so once that's sorted I can clear the decks and start that journey.
@@steevzstubs thanks for watching ☺️ it depends on how many pages / illustrations and how detailed etc. I am open for commissions if you want to email me or I have a contact form on my website.

How much ballpark does it cost to buy some illustrations for a book?
