This statement does not reflect reality. If this process is "never an issue", there would not be so many of us trying to get help on the transfer. Never use the word "never". 😅😂
You are right, wechat cannot be login to two cell phones, but this step is to migrate your history to the other cell phone. It’s different and this is how to migrate your history.
I might be a bit late but when you see the qr code page on the old device, you can log in with the new device using the same account without being kicked out from wechat on the old device
It allows 2 login machines at the same time. I've done it on my iMac 🖥️ and my phone. I couldn't get my Chromebook to work. On my old account I couldn't login via phone barcode scan because I haven't got the same SIM card as I had before. Recently I tried to add my Chinese bank card to my new uk WeChat account but the ID process failed on me. I taught in China. That's why I have Chinese bank cards. But the process can be daunting even when you're in China. I wish they allowed adding a UK visa card. It's unfair. Why make it hard to do transactions between Chinese and UK users? We could teach Chinese students and get paid into our UK banks via a WeChat within seconds. But Ten Cent doesn't allow adding non Chinese bank cards. Damn nuisance.
