I know he's not pushing because it was probably practice and he was on an out lap, but holy smokes look how smooth and precise he is with the car, the steering input, throttle/break and gear changes! Niki was such a fantastic driver!

And even though heis not pushing you can still see how shaky it is and his head bobs even at power speeds changing gears. Let's not forget that they drove these machine with pretty much nothing to aid them electronically. 600HP in aluminum monocoque chassis with no traction control and feet hanging pretty much along the front wheels. Any high speed collision head on is going to cause amputations.
We have come so far in the safety of these machines but it's beautiful to go back and admire what peoples lives were like back then.
It's hard to compare this to modern F1 cars. You can't compare machinery that is nearly 50 years apart it was simply a different time and a different formula to follow.
Look at Romain Grosjean crash from a few years ago. He walked away from that Niki Lauda esque crash. Back in the 70's there was a good chance anybody would have died in that kind of crash. It was a miracle Niki did.

That is technical perfection of shifting the gears. Wonderful. Niki will live forever 🇦🇹❤️

You can see he is not even pushing, it's probably only out laps and he has a big ass heavy camera set above his head. You can not judge it just by a few minutes clip. Those cars were still very quick

Which part was slow? Straight line speed was slower but corner and acceleration look fast to me.

@Drugs in cheeto bags I'm making a comparison against today's cars, not necessarily saying that it is slow

@@lucasdimond5968 Man, that was another times. Less power (around 490-510 HP) less downforce, another tires, less technology etc..
