2024 Ford Ranger First Drive - This or the Tacoma?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- The 2024 Ford Ranger brings a fresh design inside and out to this mid-size pickup truck. Loaded with advanced technology, a carryover 2.3L EcoBoost engine and a new 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine, Ford's function-first approach clear.
It has a max towing rating of up to 7,500 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,711 pounds and both engines run on 87 octane fuel.
Would you take this over the Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma or the Chevrolet Colorado?

Would you take this over the 2024 Toyota Tacoma?
likely a Taco for me, mainly because of the high resale value .
I was firmly set on a Taco. But after sitting in the Ranger I found the front and rear seats much more comfortable. Now I'm unsure but waiting to check out the Ranger 2.7 since the hybrid taco will be unaffordable.
Yes. I use the bed a lot and the Ranger has a better, stronger, wider bed so that's a big selling point for me and my purposes
@@teddonley9594 Are you ok with the Ranger bed only being 4'11" long?
@Ryan-cf6lc Yes, with the gate open, it's plenty long enough for my needs.
I own the 2023 Ford Everest (SUV version of this Ranger; akin to 4Runner of Tacoma) and love driving it daily. Your review is spot on!
Very cool!!! Thanks for the kind words, we appreciate you :)
Great journalistic quality--not only in terms of script/research but also in terms of voice quality and presence. Great job!
Thank you so much! We truly appreciate it.
Those are actually some of the better looking OEM chrome wheels ive seen.
👀
Good review guys! Thank you
Thanks!!!!
once again another great video from you two !
Thank you, Sean! We appreciate your support as always!
I prefer "body on frame" for a truck but a Maverick is the size i'm looking at. (yes, i contradicted myself lol)
One of the reasons I was looking at the nissan frontier. Seems to be a little smaller than colorado/tacoma/ranger. I just wish the dash/infotainment/cameras wasn't 10 years behind.
@@outsidewithmrt For some that will be a benefit. For those who enjoy tech (when it works) its going to hurt the frontier as every other brand now has a new model out with updates. I think there are improvements nissan could make to bring their electronic hardware up to date without losing the ease of use.
I have the Maverick Lariat 2.0, love it but now I need more towing.
Cheers
Looking forward to your Taco review!
🌮
looking forward to this one :-)
Thanks, Sean!
Nice truck!

Maybe I messed it but do you happen to know what color truck this was? Looked really good on Camara but can't tell what color it is.
Fact that Raptor doesn't have ventilated seats available in a 60k truck is a shame....
Can’t disagree. It seems like an oversight.
No rear vents. No split rear seat. No moonroof. It’s missing a lot.
Is that all you comment on every ranger video I’ve seen you’ve said that stupid 💩 😂 don’t flippin buy it maybe? Not that you could afford it
@@bionicwolf3342it’s a midsized 😂 kids don’t bitch about air vents
I am torn between the Frontier and the Ranger....Any thoughts on those 2??
Ranger is an easy choice between those two. Better quality, better tech, nicer drive dynamics all around.
@@Modern.Motoring Thank You
@francis105G Very happy to help!
this with the 2.7 no doubt..
I'm onboard with the 2.7 being the better option however with the new recall on the 1.0L motors that had a wet belt design that would degrade and clog the oil pump pickup it does concern me that the 2.7 engine also has a wet belt to drive the oil pump. Apparently the 2.3 oil pump is gear driven so potentially more relaible.
Have you driven a Canyon?
Not yet. We’d like to track one down!
The transmission on the 2024 is not the same as last year's. It is now a 10R60 instead of last year's 10R80. Was there a noticeable difference?
That’s just on the raptor
If it’s the ‘23 Tacoma, I’d say Tacoma, but now… toss up.
The only mid size with a long bed is the Tacoma.
Redesign does NOT and SHOULD NOT mean everything is replaced by something different!!!. No company ever does that. That would be DUMB.
Neither these new 1/4 tons are all trash, frontier last one left sad ....
Very BLAND
As an automation designer that has my fingerprints on virtually all Fords including the Ranger and has owned F150s, a Mustang and Maverick, I would never buy a Ranger. I would take the Tundra or F150. I barely fit in a Taco but their reliability and resale value are hard to beat. Ranger just too expensive for what it is. Saying that my wife also in the auto industry likes her Maverick.
This ranger is loved internationally. And this engine has been pretty solid. IMO the new Tacoma is overpriced for what it is.
Already breaking down and terrible interior.
Will there be a Tremor package?
Nothing officially announced yet but we’d be surprised if there was not one in the coming years.
Toyota is terrible.
I have always liked Fords. I had a 2019 Ford Escape and it was built well b/c I had a small fender bender in a parking lot and it did nothing to my Ford and dented up the Nissan. The engine was a 2.5 liter duratech engine and was great, no problems at all. I'm in love with my 2022 Toyota Tacoma now, but If I were to buy an American car it would be a Ford. I more about the better engine, transmission and roomy interiors and not so much into the techy stuff. In the long run I want a mechanically well built vehicle that will last for years. 🛻✌🏼❤💋
