I actually think the solution to the whole problem was to do nothing. It was stated in the movie that the spirits lose their hold over time and go away. Unless the host dies, and then they have them forever. On the phone, Jade said Riley was getting better and acting more himself. At the same time, the spirit decided to go full force with the trickster-mom and convince Mia to kill Riley. The spirit had already tried to kill Riley twice, unsuccessfully. Mia had a convenient dead mother to use for manipulation. The water sounds were from the drowned woman. It was her all along.
I agree, but the thing here is how long were they willing to let Riley suffer in hell (or whatever that was). The whole thing was being compared to the kangaroo they saw on the road in the beginning - letting it suffer or mercy killing it.
For sure. Just like drugs you need to let it get out of your system. But the withdrawals will convince you that you need another hit. I've experienced withdrawals from various things, antidepressants is the worst one. You basically become another person, I wouldn't wish that feeling on my worst enemy.
As people are saying, the reason you always hear the water around her mother is because it is the drowned spirit that was in Mia more than 90 seconds taking her mothers form to try and manipulate her into killing Riley. If you die while possessed by the spirits, they get to keep you forever. Her mother's form kept deteriorating because the further from the original instant of contact, the less hold the spirit has and less material it is, and so the facade was failing and the drowned spirit came through more and more. I am assuming that Riley was actually safe in the end, after his physical body healed, the hold that the dead had was severed, and he was free. But idk, it is kinda vague as to what was real or not in the end. We are getting a sequel, but if he is alive, they better not put him back on that hand, the kid went through enough and I would never believe, no matter the plot device, that he would ever touch it again.
Her mothers spirit was never there. It was always the drowned spirit from her first possession. That’s why you heard the water every time. It looked less and less like her mom each time she saw it because the spirit was losing its ability to trick her and needed her to hurry up and kill Riley. It was the same spirit manipulating her the whole time. The other spirits were helping by the end and she was seeing things that weren’t happening. Her mom took pills to die, she wouldn’t look all bloated and water logged as a spirit, they all look the way they did when they died. Including Mia with her pavement burned face at the end.
I think the only time the mother was real was when the brother first did the spirit. Then Mia touched him and it allowed the drowned woman to go into him and start the ruse
The movie was definitly a metaphor for someone in the grips of addiction. The had is like drugs. The peer pressure, the "dealer" with the product in a backpack. Pushing people away that care for you but they cant deal with your addiction. You are harming yourself and others. The addiction makes you think and tell lies. You are not yourself.
Disclaimer, haven't watched the whole reaction yet: I'm pretty sure the drowned ghost that Mia talked to, since she was in her longer than 90 secs, she was able to see everything about Mia's life and trauma.. so when Riley went under, the drowned ghost disguised itself as Mia's mom to trick her into making him stay in longer so she could "escape", then tortured Mia for fun, or maybe she needed Mia to take her spot so she could escape, so she drove her to insanity Edit: I also believe her father is fine at the end, there's no reason to have him still alive when the friend got there, if it wasn't to show us he's gonna be fine. I think the friend got him to the hospital just in time, and then ran after Mia. In the hospital at the end, she's seeing the months go by, watching Riley heal and leave with his family, it makes sense she sees her dad heal and leave too, he's alone cause she died
The ghost was trying to get Mia to kill Riley so it could keep him forever. Eventually, the ghost would have lost its strength and left. The mother was a convenient tool to lie to her.
@@RoseforthethornsI thought it was white light too but after second viewing I think it was the light just shutting off like the other lights. I think her father lived and was visiting Riley in the hospital.
I prefer to think the Dad lived too, and her "hell" was being in limbo seeing everyone move on without her and without SEEING her. She was alone as a spirit in limbo, just like the ones they were all toying with when messing with the hand. I guess the worst part about her Dad surviving is now that she really *wants* to connect with him, there's no way she can. It's such a reality based gut punch when you think about it. A lot of people go through life disconnecting with people they've fallen out with and if there's not an effort to reconnect, the opportunity can slip away just like that. I really love that about this movie. The grounded nature of relationships and consequences of how we care for them in life. Great stuff from such young filmmakers.
My interpretation was that the dad lived, and Mia was seeing time move on without her. So she was watching Riley leave the hospital after recovering as well as her dad. But your interpretation is interesting as well. I just don’t think they would have shown the dad still alive when Jade went to the house if he actually died.
It’s a pretty direct metaphor for someone getting addicted to substances or anything else unhealthy to cope with a traumatic life event vs actually dealing with it. That’s why I wasn’t as hard on Mia as normal ouiji board movie characters - her irrationality was part of the movie’s theme and not a typical horror movie character making dumb mistakes just so the audience can see the consequences
Her grief started driving the addiction when she assumed her mother was trying to reach out to her. At no moment is Mia not grieving the loss of her mother and using the hand was the closest she got to her and we just see it get worse as it goes. Such a great way to show addiction and how people can lose themselves to grief.
I think there's only one hand, maybe two if someone found the right hand. The father is alive. The last scene where Mia is in the hospital and scream for her friends and her dad, she is seeing them heal, recover, and eventually leave the hospital. When her dad leaves in the elevator I think it's him forgiving himself for what happened to his wife and Mia, closing off Mia entirely from the mortal world. Jade, Riley, and their mom were already done with Mia and didn't want to think about her anymore but they left before the dad did. Mia's dad was sort of like her anchor to the mortal world. Since she died while possessed, her soul is trapped in the weird limbo until someone touches the hand and says "talk to me". I honestly think that the hand traps you. If you die from not being possessed by the hand, you aren't trapped by the hand. It's like a soul collector. The bog woman's clothing didn't look like it was from recent times (from what I saw). So she probably saw a fortune teller (or something like that) to try to contact a dead relative or friend. And the rest is history.
I’m not sure if people got different versions of the movie, but in my screening mia found herself at the end being the spirit at a party with everyone recording and she was holding onto the right hand this time not the left
@@CxrtifiedRiggafor me it was the left hand at the end the same as during the movie. Maybe you remember wrong or the last scene was flipped horizontaly for you.

She stayed in Mia because they went over the time. That's why it was her sucking on her ex's toes when SHE say the drowned woman doing it. It was actually Mia, you saw her eyes all white.
When I realized that the title of the movie is probably in reference to someone trying to reach out to another person wanting to help them as if saying "talk to me, tell me what's wrong" I had to rethink a lot of my interpretations about it, like, I already knew it was touching on how people handle depression and grief but thinking about how the people using the hand were basically reaching out to the spirits of dead people in a way that allowed them a voice, something they haven't had for a long time, kind of destroyed me a little bit. Also, I find it really interesting that the movie ends with Mia seeing time pass around her in real life, Riley getting better and leaving the hospital, her father still alive but with a limp as a result of what she did and all by himself, all of them moving on while she's stuck in limbo, and then she's summoned by people from a different country who knows how far into the future after her death. Anyway I would love a prequel or something that explores the hand more, how it became a thing and how it actually works, plus would love to know if the spirits are being taken over by some sort of demonic force that takes advantage of the connection that is opened via the hand or if being stuck in limbo makes them hungry for life and are unable to control themselves.
There is or was apparently another film in the works, and rumour had it that it was going to be a prequel following the two guys from the beginning of the film, but there hasn't been any further news about it as far as I know.
The first time I watched it, I thought Mia threw herself into traffic, but watching it again you can surmise that Jade pushed her in to save her brother. Jade weirdly had one of the best character arcs on the sidelines by redeeming herself as a sister. I love this movie. The collective gasp of realization when the match was lit was worth seeing it in theaters.
This film was also written and directed by the brothers who run the RackaRacka UA-cam channel, they really blew up with Mortal Kombat IRL and a serial killer Ronald McDonald parody
Masterpiece frfr. The “Hell” scene is by far my fave part of the movie bc it’s so well shot and edited. It felt very event horizon. Every frame of that scene got to me and in the theater my eyes were OPEN. It was terrifying for the few seconds we saw
I don't think that was "hell" my theory is that it that they are in limbo because they all committed suicide which is why she is there as well since she killed herself.
Lots of ppl, including me, thought the dad was going to Heaven but after a second viewing the light in the elevator just shut off like the rest of the hospital and he was walking away from Riley’s room. I think he lived and was visiting him in the hospital. Also her “mom” at the end said “we’ll have him forever” and I think that triggered Mia to throw herself into traffic instead of Riley OR the spirits were trying to take both of them out but she unconsciously saved him by only allowing herself to be thrown.
actually im not really 100% about this but if u look very closely u can even slow it down, when we are in the drivers perspective, you can see Jade pushing Mia to save her brother, im certain thats what happened which is even more tragic..
@@SinSinny i dont know i love those easter eggs i have an eye for that, another one if ur interested is, the right spirit hand is shown in the movie, at the end when the (im sorry if im wrong) mexican boy meets dead Mia, its because Mia used the opposite hand when she was alive, as the spirit she is shaking with her right hand (also not 100% sure about this but its a cool detail if it is)
@@kokdestroyerI thought when she came across and was using the other hand was because if there's only 2 of these hands the other kids must have the other one (unless theres just mass amounts of these hands then my point holds no weight lol) but yeah that's what I was thinking
I think we hear water when we see her mom bc it’s not her mom. It’s the ghost Mia let in at the first party. The ghost stayed bc “she went a bit over” the 90 secs. I personally think Reilly was intentionally possessed by Mia’s mom, but another ghost hacked in. Maybe it was whatever the ghost meant when she said “he’s behind you” when Mia was first possessed. I love this movie.
Forgot to mention in my first comment- The "and another one, thank you" clip when Riley was slamming his head in the bathroom was an inspired editing choice. It took me out. Too funny!!
Along the lines of this being a metaphor for addiction, the first time Mia used the hand, she was told the rules/consequences, particularly that if you died while the spirits are in you, you become lost to them. THEN, someone mentions that even if you're possessed, eventually it wears off if you dont use the hand again. Mia disregarded all of this when she went to kill Riley, to save him from the ghosts. To me, it was representative of how a person with an addiction will disregard all common sense when they are wrapped up in their drug of choice.
SPOILER. The hand was like a drug and Mia was dealing with grief so it was a bad combination and the spirits took advantage of that. It's still unclear if she jumped or if she was pushed. My favorite horror film of the year
that montage has a completely seperate fanbase lol, idk why i enjoyed it so much but i did it made me think of the spirits side, imagine being summoned just to be stuck in a chair and laughed at by a bunch of high teens hahaha
Literally just finished watching this movie so I could watch all my faves reactions lol. This movie was super wild and a great concept. I loved the cast as well. Seeing the scene where she drives around the dying kangaroo (i think) immediately made me think of the end when she is laying on the road and we see the tire marks of the car that went around her (or hit her).
I started last week with your "Grave Encounters" videos and have since watched almost all of your stuff! You guys are great and I'm so glad I found you!
We have got to stop trusting dead people showing up as ghosts, demons, etc. whatever. Sis was like 'oh yeah there is no chance these spirits could possibly mislead me. I just saw them make my friend smash his skull sure, but that doesn't mean they would lie to me.'
So everything that I've learned about this movie is, the mom was actually that drown spirit and manipulating Mia since the first time she used the hand. That's why you hear the water every time she's on screen. Also I saw Jade push Mia at the end when I watched it in .5 speed. So my questions are, where is the right hand? How did the left hand get to where it is at the end? How did Duckett get the hand in the first place? I love that this movie has so many options to expand with.
right hand question is good, left hand got there because its like an "permanently usable drug", the shots between Mia getting up on the street and her in the hospital is probably weeks or MONTHS away, since u can see Riley and Mias dad recovered quite well, time goes on the other side differently i guess, back to the hand as the "drug" it will fall into the wrong hands more and more like Ducketts for an example they had enough and threw it somewhere, someone found it and it all goes in a loop. And i think Duckett explained that she accidentally found it like near the beginning (or someone else did) not so sure about this but yeah! hope this helps
I wouldn't be surprised if they include some extra lore stuff to explain what the hands are in the sequel coming out soon (I've heard the OG creators made a whole lore/notes thing for the ghost hands, including the possibility of there'being multiple ones). ^^
This was a great movie! It's definitely one you need to watch again. You pick up so much more and a second viewing adds a lot of depth to the plot overall. Great reaction, guys!😃
18:37 - according to a web search the lyrics are from La Foule (The Crowd), Edith Piaf's French cover of a Spanish folk song recorded in the late 50s - but the instrumental is Le Monde by Richard Carter (made for the soundtrack; the section used in the movie doesn't have it, but the actual track has some amazing glitchy stuff going on). La Foule is definitely an interesting lyrical choice.
I attended the Canadian premiere and they had the hand prop there for a photo op and the fact that I was even somewhat hesitant to touch it after the screening is a testament to how effective the movie is 😂
after i reacted to it.. i was like STILL affected and it was over. i was so said for riley and shocked that mia is stuck forever.. and wondering who’s next with the hand lol
My most visceral reaction was the kid trying to pull his eye out I was like AHH NO. Talk to me a good horror movie one of the best of 2023 but not as amazing as the hype it was receiving.
Also, the whole concept of this movie is essentially playing possession/chat roulette with the Further lol. My biggest issue with this movie is that none of the others involved got what they deserved for messing with spirits.
there is a right hand and a left hand that’s been confirmed .. we don’t know where the other hand is .. I’m assuming the sequel will be with it and hopefully more background on the origin of the body they came from
So excited to watch this one!!!! Easily one of the best on-edge horrors (not just saying that because I'm an Aussie 😉) Thank you so much for great content, enjoy watching you guys!! ❤ Also, loved your Not Today Satan & having Aunt Zelda in the movie 😅
My mom pointed out when she's singing in French that it's most likely supposed to be this dead famous singer I forgot her name tho. But it sounds quite similar
18:40 (IMO) this is one of my favorite moments. 1st. She's inhabiting the soul of a (French, I think) singer. Not gonna lie, that's kinda cool, don't judge me😆. 2nd. Then at 18:41, look at how she's looking around the room. I know those black eyes make it creepy, but it's creeper the WAY she's looking around. It's this blank, kinda confused look, like "where am I, what's happening?" It's such a small, quick thing, but I think it's SOOOO brilliantly done👍👍
I got the impression the spirits that were being spoken to were all tortured souls, stuck on earth for whatever reason (trauma etc) and angsty for a second chance. And the one that latched itself to Mia was just imitating the mother, because its goal was always to gain more souls - to get Mia to kill herself and others in the process, to bring others down with it, the same way that the teen in the first act tried to kill his brother and then stabbed himself. I think whatever held Riley went away when the candle was blown out, hence he began to recover. A lot of people have speculated the water running is the bloated drowned spirit from the start, imitating the mother.
There's just two hands. The one we've been following might have been destroyed after Mia's death, but the other was hinted at earlier in the movie when Haley mentions that the other one is just out there somewhere. Turns out it's at a party in Greece, since that's where Mia's spirit is summoned to. TMYK🌟🌈
not gonna lie, @ 1:59 is one of the scariest things I've seen. I wasn't expecting it and Insidious music ALWAYS gets me LMAO, just for that, I'm checking out his channel ;)

Cody, great reaction! Sergio, you were the one screaming and singing and dancing… I’m not quite sure this film is like “Thank God It’s Friday” or some other disco movie. The film is seriously scary, which makes me love it all the more! This film was done by UA-camr’s. The lead actress is beautiful and amazingly talented. Did you recognize the bossy mother? I can’t wait to see what y’all do next.
I've been holding off until you guys reacted ( 's more fun 😁) I have to give everyone else props for figuring out why she was holding some random dudes hand, I looked at it confused and realised it at the same moment she did. That was a big jump scare moment for me 😅

The collective gasp of realization when the match was lit was worth seeing it in theaters.
Actually that’s just probably showing how siblings are bro they hate each other until someone else is trying to hurt them.
This film was also written and directed by the brothers who run the RackaRacka UA-cam channel, they really blew up with Mortal Kombat IRL and a serial killer Ronald McDonald parody
I saw this movie in theaters and it was incredible! In particular, the sound design was immaculate.
Masterpiece frfr. The “Hell” scene is by far my fave part of the movie bc it’s so well shot and edited. It felt very event horizon.
Every frame of that scene got to me and in the theater my eyes were OPEN. It was terrifying for the few seconds we saw
this was quite the movie for me to watch at a 10 am matinee
I wish we could see more of it. Originally that scene was 2 minutes long, but they cut it all out because it was too gruesome.
I don't think that was "hell" my theory is that it that they are in limbo because they all committed suicide which is why she is there as well since she killed herself.
@@GabrielCarvalho-kb8yvjeez that sounds horrible I'm glad it wasn't 2 minutes, also similar to event horizon in saving the audience
@@agsmith43well technically that would still also be a hell for those who committed suicide. They still won’t ever face the peace they wanted
@@kokdestroyer yea ima have to rewatch lol how did you catch that?
That ending was literal. Her father and Riley recovered and are shown exiting the hospital.
Imagine there’s that one spirit who’s just vibin and actually doesn’t wanna do anything bad lol. “Aye wassup guys”
“What’s for dinner tonight? Pasta? Awwww, fuck yea, that sounds awesome. Enjoy!” Just goes back to knitting.
“Maybe everything is going to be fine” cut to one of the most gruesome scenes in the movie 😅😅😅
SPOILER. The hand was like a drug and Mia was dealing with grief so it was a bad combination and the spirits took advantage of that. It's still unclear if she jumped or if she was pushed. My favorite horror film of the year
I think it’s pretty clear. If you watch to the side as that car is driving you can see Jade make it over to them and grab her.
that montage has a completely seperate fanbase lol, idk why i enjoyed it so much but i did
it made me think of the spirits side, imagine being summoned just to be stuck in a chair and laughed at by a bunch of high teens hahaha
Love that Talk to me sequel will be called Talk 2 me 😂 love your guys video so happy you’ve finally watched this! Fav movie of the year hands down
Literally just finished watching this movie so I could watch all my faves reactions lol.
18:21 me in the theater watching this scene. I was FEELING that song 😂
We have got to stop trusting dead people showing up as ghosts, demons, etc. whatever. Sis was like 'oh yeah there is no chance these spirits could possibly mislead me. I just saw them make my friend smash his skull sure, but that doesn't mean they would lie to me.'
I have been waiting for this!!! When Cody was super optimistic in the beginning I was like.....oh no baby nooooo it's bad
The odds of Riley surviving that many hits to the head so close together are so slim
I wouldn't be surprised if they include some extra lore stuff to explain what the hands are in the sequel coming out soon (I've heard the OG creators made a whole lore/notes thing for the ghost hands, including the possibility of there'being multiple ones). ^^
One of the best montage scenes in a movie !
I loveddd this movie, I will for sure be buying that $110 party hand for decoration 😂
This was a great movie! It's definitely one you need to watch again. You pick up so much more and a second viewing adds a lot of depth to the plot overall. Great reaction, guys!😃
Going from the gruesome scene with Riley then the "I love you Jesus" KILLED ME!!! I cried I was laughing for hard.
As a sergio, I must say, I love watching y'all.
Hey guys looking forward to your reaction ❤
Yassss! Thanks for watching and supporting! 💜💜
i cant be the only one who loves sergios facial expressions and gestures when theyre promoting their socials 😂😂
These ghosts were going after the wrong people😂😂😂 Overrall it was better than I expected.
I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT YOU TWO THINK!!!! this is my favourite horror movie of the year HANDS down.
Mia’s ending literally broke my heart i wanted so much better for her..😫😫😫
I attended the Canadian premiere and they had the hand prop there for a photo op and the fact that I was even somewhat hesitant to touch it after the screening is a testament to how effective the movie is 😂
i would've stolen the hand
Recently found your channel and immediately subscribed haha. You guys are so much fun!
Also, the fucking ending to this movie devastated me.
after i reacted to it.. i was like STILL affected and it was over. i was so said for riley and shocked that mia is stuck forever.. and wondering who’s next with the hand lol
Love you guys !!!!!
I love Puggapiller ♥️ Great reaction, guys!
i watch him too! and make my own reaction videos lol
THISSS movie tho… i was not ready for it, mia is stuck foreverrrr 🥺
"That's so sad!" *epic dance moves*
there is a right hand and a left hand that’s been confirmed .. we don’t know where the other hand is .. I’m assuming the sequel will be with it and hopefully more background on the origin of the body they came from
At the end of the credits it says no kangaroos were harmed and no dogs were kissed in the making of this movie
WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE 😁😁😁😁😁 so excited
sergio rapping and dancing through the montage music 😂😂 love it
So excited to watch this one!!!! Easily one of the best on-edge horrors (not just saying that because I'm an Aussie 😉) Thank you so much for great content, enjoy watching you guys!! ❤
Also, loved your Not Today Satan & having Aunt Zelda in the movie 😅
My mom pointed out when she's singing in French that it's most likely supposed to be this dead famous singer I forgot her name tho. But it sounds quite similar
You guys are the best! Love your reviews! Big love from Belgium 😊
Stoked to see Australian movies getting big
This movie was a different type of horror and I loved it.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
18:40 (IMO) this is one of my favorite moments.
1st. She's inhabiting the soul of a (French, I think) singer. Not gonna lie, that's kinda cool, don't judge me😆.
2nd. Then at 18:41, look at how she's looking around the room. I know those black eyes make it creepy, but it's creeper the WAY she's looking around. It's this blank, kinda confused look, like "where am I, what's happening?"
It's such a small, quick thing, but I think it's SOOOO brilliantly done👍👍
i was thinking the same thing!! lol exactly!
So happy that Riley got to live, I don’t care about anyone else 🥺
YESSSS I was waiting for your reaction 🎉
This being y'alls first A24 film and MY first vid from yall. Enjoy the rest of A24. It's amazing.
agreed.. A24 has really been releasing awesome movies in the last few years, like they have really gained more attention, it’s so great for them 😆
I LIVE for Sergio’s dancing 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This movie is actually so good, I got so excited seeing this notification pop up!😄
The brother scene was the scariest scene that I have seen in theaters in a looooong time, I was so shook
There's just two hands. The one we've been following might have been destroyed after Mia's death, but the other was hinted at earlier in the movie when Haley mentions that the other one is just out there somewhere. Turns out it's at a party in Greece, since that's where Mia's spirit is summoned to.
TMYK🌟🌈
I'm so excited for this! ❤
omg the big bird took me out LMAOooooooooooooooooo I'm subbed! :D
how i saw it, the lady spirit was attached to mia bc the time went over and she pretended to be her mom AND dad bc of it
34:31 Cody breaking my fucking heart.
Racka Racka Boys did it 💪 good job
YASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! I WATCHED IN THE THEATERS AND I LOVED IT
Luv them and their reactions 💕🩷👀
not gonna lie, @ 1:59 is one of the scariest things I've seen. I wasn't expecting it and Insidious music ALWAYS gets me LMAO, just for that, I'm checking out his channel ;)
i would talk to you two 🥰 thanks for the shoutout 🔫
Sooo loved y’all’s reaction! I am absolutely Sergio turning up at every song that warrants it 😂😝 this movie was insane! Wasn’t a perfect film but my favorite of the year for sure. The tension they maintained was masterful and the acting was sublime!
"I love you Jeeeeeeeeesus!"
Seriously, all they needed to do was give it time and it would go away.
Just started watching, but I began it a couple hours ago and realized that I needed to watch it first. So made a purchase on Vudu, watched this train wreck (in a good way) of a movie first, without spoilers. Can't wait to see your reaction!
One of my favorite horror movies from the last decade! There’s already talks about a sequal (I think it’s a prequel actually? About the brother from the beginning)
Yay I finally got to see your reaction on this one!!! How freaky huh? LOL.
The sweet song during the montage is a remix of La Foule by Edith Piaf
finished watching the watch along last night ❤ I got to see this one in the theater and I've never left the movies so discombobulated and amazed at the same time. 😂
I would love you too to do the fear street trilogy, it really was a solid full 3 feature
She played Aeowyn (sp?) from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. She also played Annabelle’s mother in “Annabelle Creation”, the prequel. Thanks for the fun time, guys! I can’t wait to see what y’all do next.
I've been holding off until you guys reacted ( 's more fun 😁) I have to give everyone else props for figuring out why she was holding some random dudes hand, I looked at it confused and realised it at the same moment she did. That was a big jump scare moment for me 😅
Talk To Me scares me so much also first time seeing it totally creepy love scary movies so much 😍 can't wait to see Saw X awesome 💯😎
Just joined the core four ❤❤❤😊
CORE FOUR!! Welcome and thank you for supporting!! 💜💜💜
