      @@ethanweeter2732i saw it the other day. It’s not great. It’s not as bad as everyone is saying though. It’s focused too much on the family. The preacher is in it for like two minutes. Which is weird since it’s a requel. The first two movies focus a lot of the attention on the preacher. It’s basically non existent in the new movie.

    I was watching the movie today and my first thought when I saw them doing it over and over at Jade's home was, I can see TikTok kids doing this for fun. Not sure why people think messing with the dead is a joke. I do believe that Mia's possession was based on the fact they didn't release her from the hand for more than 90 seconds, so the spirit stayed with her. I also didn't understand why they wanted the boy unless it was because he was pre-pubescent and saw him as "innocent. Scary movie but I definitely won't watch it again like I have Insidious and The Conjuring.

    • @je67tbd
      @je67tbd Рік тому +2

      They did say the boy was holding the hand and possessed by the spirits for like 2 min. I think at the time he tried to kill himself, more and more spirits were entering his body and they wanted him forever, hence the suicide attempts!

    Mia irked me the entire movie! I believe the spirits gravitated to Riley due to his age. In most religions, it is said that children (or young souls) are more susceptible/vulnerable to spirits. In the movie, they harped a lot on his age. Daniel was Mia's ex. The spirit the possessed him was suggesting that he wasn't sexually attracted to Jade because he still had feelings towards Mia. Mia went over the time the first time she did so I believe because of that plus her grief over her mom that made her vulnerable to it. Her mom did commit suicide. It was the evil spirit trying to suede Mia into doing whatever it wanted her to do.

    Riley and Mia got what was coming to them honestly…
    (Riley) imagine you’re sitting in front of a girl with black eyes making unbreaking eye contact with you. All while saying some freaky things… then the door opens and closes by itself… then you go ahead and play with the hand? Like yeah bro, you should’ve known.
    (Mia) imagine playing with a hand then seeing a ghost suck in your exes toes then realize it’s actually you… then you go ahead and play with the hand again? Like girl, you should’ve known.

    • @je67tbd
      @je67tbd Рік тому +1

      I think the sequence where they all played with the hand showed how safe they started to view it, like they had control over it and the spirits were more ridiculous than scary, hence why Riley wanted to try. He also looks up to Mia and she was fine after her first time.

    As an Australian, I object to the idea you can kill a kangaroo by just hitting it with a car. Those bastards will launch themselves right onto the hood of your car, completely destroy it, and then bounce away like it's nothing, leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Those are the true demonic creatures. 😂

      @BrianLikesBeans I guess every country has their quirks 😆 I've seen videos from Canada with giant moose. How are those real!? You'd be surprised just how many kangaroos are around though. Drive through a country town and their football oval will have at least 50 roos taking a nap in the sun 😆 It's led to a bunch of overpopulation issues though. They're just so many!

    It was her fault though. Mia and the friends were supposed to get Riley out by 50 seconds. She didn't because her "mom" was using Riley as vessel to talk to Mia. And then they didn't blow out his candle when the hand was removed from Riley's hand. She is 100% responsible!

  • @je67tbd
    @je67tbd Рік тому +24

    So the choice in possessions wasn’t arbitrary! Mia was seeing things because her first time she went over 90 seconds. They were able to stay in Riley because he went way over 90 seconds and they did not blow out the candle with him after they got the hand off him. I thought this film was really thrilling and the performances were amazing!

    The theme of lost connection is throughout the movie from beginning to end. From the brother looking for his other brother at a crowded party to everyone looking at their phone and literally tuning people out to Mia shutting down her dad when he was telling her truth about her mom to kids trying to disconnect from the real world either for entertainment or at least to feel something. It’s everywhere. I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was terrifying.

    Great review like always. I loved the movie. I think the reason why the demons wanted Riley was because he was young and vulnerable and easily terrified. Maybe they can take you over more if you're young and vulnerable like that. I know they stated that he was too young and that's why they didn't want him to do it at first. Anyway, great hearing your thoughts!

    it is an analogy for doing drugs, the brothers said so! the compounding of grief and addiction. i think riley was more susceptible cus he’s so young and mia also got connected because she did it for 91 seconds. they also said they created a full lore for the hand like a whole prequel backstory basically, which is cool.
    i agree it did a classic story in such a sharp and creative way and it was really full of heart. great performances but wow sophie wilde is such a star.

Ironically my dad hadn't seen any trailers for this movie ahead of this which surprised me so he walked in with an open mind. I really enjoyed this film, I enjoyed not having any prior knowledge of a franchise/IP before watching it.
    The spirits really like Riley because of how "pure" he was. In a couple scenes before he's chastising his friend for selling cigarettes and when he's offered one he declines.

    I really enjoyed this one. It certainly leaves a lot unanswered for potential sequels (the origins of the hand) but I’d be happy if they left it as a one and done. I have to say though, it’s my belief that Mia didn’t sacrifice herself by jumping into traffic, but rather Jade pushed her into the traffic to save her brother. It seemed to me Mia didn’t know she was dead until those final moments in the hospital, and the candle bit at the very end sealed the deal. Overall, I have to say this may be the best horror movie I’ve seen so far in 2023. I look forward to this year’s remaining horror releases. Love the channel, all the best!

    Love you guys. You guys are the only ppl so know who watch more films than me
    Also soooo happy you two actually watch abd reciew indie movies also rather than just blockbusters. I love Jeremy Jahns and Chris stuckman but those two only review blockbusters and movies that will bring them views it seems although I like those guys a lot I love getting actually educated and introduced to indies by you guys.
    I wanted to ask if you two have seen green room and Blue Ruin? I loved Blue ruin
    Also you should check out the monster live story Spring by benson and moorehead. Love their films abd I know you guys know who they are

    I thought mia got possessed cause she did it longer than 90 seconds. And the others didn’t except the boy.

    I was going to see "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" movie, but I heard this one is very good. I'm glad I saw it today before they stop playing it in theaters. Great review, FJF🍿🍿

    This movie was a hell of a ride! I just saw it tonight, and I watched your review before that, maybe a week ago. I'm glad my brain is in melting state right now so I forgot the ending 😂
    Anyway it was way better than I expected, and I really felt attached to the characters. All were very believable and not empty like too many protagonists in this kind of films.

    I liked this movie…but in the third act after the scene with the dad reading the letter, the movie started reminding me of Oculus which I felt was a better execution of this type of story.
