This was the first thing after my lathe and tools that I bought 2 years ago which I have never regretted. It’s simple to fit and I’ve had a couple of near misses and used the face protection with 100% success and as I didn’t have other air filtration at the time it was great purchase despite the costs. Great video overview 👍

Thanks for a good review, may the old JSP R.I.P... I have been using the Axminster version for about a year and a half and totally agree, it´s really user friendly and the beard issue you mentioned made the choice easy, just like the not fogging glasses. The battery seems to hang in there even after much use and I can only recommend this respirator. Good you mentioned additional dust extraction/air filtering since the very finest particles aren´t stopped by these cartridges.

I found that the screen protector is very good at dispelling dust whereas the bare screen seems keen to attract it. I also use a vacuum cleaner on the outside of the filters after sanding often it is very obvious that a lot of dust is being caught. I agree with Mike that the unit is actually quite quiet.

Bummer these weren't promoted more in the U.S. and elsewhere for the COVID. Guessing there is like a PAPR cartel or something. Seems the trend might have increased volume and helped pushed the price point down even more or allowed more competition to enter the market at the least provide more capital to fund more market expansion capabilities. Something open source or even for sale like this design, which seems well balanced, with the 3M 6000/7000 or whatever you call that more common 3M cartridge connector or a NATO 40mm style connector would be awesome!

Just wanted to check back in with you on the Axeminster Respirator. I've used a TREND Air Pro for several years now and though a significant improvement over my paper respirator, it's starting to show it's age and may need replacing later this year. As you've been using the Axeminster for some months now, how would you rate it 'now' when compared to the Trend? thanks...j

I watch your videos and the videos of the live streaming, and thoroughly enjoy them. With reference to the Axminster apf10 that I was considering buying after watching your review. But on reading further into this it appears that it doesn't protect the wearer when using hardwoods or mdf. This was a little disconcerting as many woodturners work with hardwoods. May I ask your thoughts on this situation, that Axminster are actually aware of.
If I was to spend around £250 on one it aught to protect me from the dust created with hardwoods.

Any government so rash as to break this commandment will feel my wrath as I devastate its economy by relocating factories, jobs, and capital to more devout and compliant regions.
      6. Thou shalt not hamper my corporations with restrictive rules and regulations. They must be allowed to treat their employees as they see fit, limitlessly exploit natural resources, and dispose of their toxic wastes and emissions without regard to the environment.
      7. Thou shalt halt the excessive and unnecessary education of your youth. Education instills unreasonable expectations that could lead to clear and critical thinking. I require citizens who are docile and easily indoctrinated. You must therefore make your education system less accessible to aspiring students and more susceptible to corporate influence. This will include the incorporation of these Commandments in the school curriculum.
      8. Thou shalt eliminate all barriers to the privatization of your public programs and institutions, including education and health care, so that corporations will be free to deliver these services on a profit-making basis.
      9. Thou shalt endure without complaint the social costs of adherence to my Commandments, which put the rights of the rich and powerful above those of the less financially endowed majority. The strong must be free to flourish and the poor and weak allowed to succumb to poverty, hunger, and homelessness. This is the ideal society that my commandments are designed to create, and in which my corporate adherents will best be able to thrive.
      10. Thou shalt obey these Commandments without question, knowing that they have been passed down from on high to my apostles on Wall Street and Bay Street, and to my loyal mass media owners. The private newspapers and TV-radio stations have been entrusted with the crucial task of spreading my neoliberal free-market doctrine far and wide. Henceforth, you must believe everything they tell you, because you will know they speak for Me, your omniscient and omnipotent Capitalist God.

@@MikeWaldt Firstly, Mike, I'm a subscriber and have been for many months. I love the channel and the work you do. I coveted your Axminster lathe, until the factory told me there were no dealers here in Canada, not would they ship one. I bought a Coronet Herald, put it on a wood bench, then filled the two lower shelves with 550 lbs of powdered red clay. I now have an 800 lb midi.
Okay, the helmet. With CNC milling, mold forming and other automated manufacturing procedures, these manufactured goods cost virtually *nothing* to manufacture. Walmart and Amazon basically toss the returned items into a dumpster. No one can afford to repackage them. Ever reached behind the first item on a rack when it was either taped or stapled together by staff? hahaha With Jeff's Delivery Service, if a carton gets accidentally bumped in his "fullfillment" warehouses, sometimes they are offered as "used", at a discount, when in reality they are perfectly unopened.
The 'crash helmet' in question would cost me about $600 CDN by the time freight + customs and duty were applied. That's 1/3 the cost of the Record Power lathe. The cost is not on! Yes, agreed, each to their own. Our economic system is failing badly; therefore our collective hobby need not follow the wiles of well-heeled, muddle class victims of ageism. hahaha

Yes it can and is, as it does not rely on a seal, it works on positive pressure created by the fan, as I pointed out in the video.
