Thank you! Cheers! Also, masking fluid takes away from the spontaneity because you have to put it down then wait for it to dry, only to discover that you used too much and now you have cut out edges to deal with. Ugh!
Thank you, Tracy. Yes. My favorite flat brush is the Richeson Professional series 7010 because the hairs are long and have a great snap, and they are thick at the ferrule, which means they can hold a lot of water.
Years ago I taped the paper to a board with moisture activated tape. It was a tedious process and required me to check the board every 10 minutes or so to make certain the tape had not pulled loose. I grew tired of that, so I began to staple it to a board while it was wet and that took less time. When it dries it is totally flat, or I can begin the painting while it is wet. I saves me time.
Great demonstration. Your paintings are stunning. So are your broad-stroke pencil drawings and I dare hope that you do some more videos on that topic. Thank you so much for sharing.
Sorry I did bot answer this question earlier. I didn't realize at the time that comments were available. I began with Transparent Pyrol Orange, then added some Pthalo Blue and some Sap green.
This is an excellent tip. I also find masking fluid too messy and not very easy to apply accurately. It can be used in small areas with a bit of care. When painting wet-into-wet, then the method here wouldn't work for me. I find that using wax crayons can stop watercolour staining certain areas of a painting too.
Wow ! Beautifully done.
Thank you very much!
This is very skillful and highly effective!!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.

So I am not alone is my dislike of masking fluid. Good to know. Thanks.
Inspiring. Thanks
My pleasure! Thanks so much.

I am so happy that I found you Carl. Love your artwork and teaching. Can you tell me what your favorite flat brush is?

Thank you for teaching us this difficult thing without the masking fluid . I agree with you. I am waiting for more videos.
Thank you, Hannah. I'll keep going.
Happily you did not have to wait as long for more videos as you had to wait for a reply. Gradually I am becoming better at all of this.
It's a great artwork! I am very happy to meet your very nice art. I am grateful. I learned a lot from your video. I respect and support you.
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you very much. Happy painting.
Why do you staple your paper to the support?

Thank you! It's very helpful bc masking fluid makes me mad all the time!
Happy to help! A few people use it with good results, but for most of us it becomes a crutch that makes us stumble.
Thanks. The most direct approach is usually the best approach.

Thank you so much 😀I have one planned on that very subject.
Very nice. Thanks

Hello, Would you please tell me the color that you used in the top left hand corner? Thank you.
Certainly. Pthalo Blue and Transparent Pyrol Orange from Daniel Smith.

Right. The key is What works best for the painting.
