One of the most accurate portrayals of small towns in America. The rural feeling, everything being 10-15 years out of date, and barn animals in random places.

This is easily one of the best title sequences in film. It’s charming, you know exactly what film you are about to see (a quirky, feel good) and it shows the era, the type of place they live in and the fact that we are dealing with dorky high schoolers. So clever.

Guillermo Carter glad someone can relate. There’s that weird point in your life where you swear everything feels like your on drugs and everything is awkward. But lone and behold your sober and the whole world has a weird vibe that you just can’t shake, just dead emotions combined with no one caring about you, even though you’re at the loneliest point in your life you feel connected with media and what we observe infront of ourselves more then ourselves.

A film so utterly unique, programmers from Netflix and other streaming services have coined the term: the “Napoleon Dynamite problem,” describing the difficulty in suggesting films like ND as they expose a weakness in the algorithm’s ability to predict whether or not you’ll enjoy it based on your viewing history.
Movies like this just don’t get made anymore, there’s a sort of magical quality to the whole thing.

Correction. Movies like this and other very original content and storylines are out there more than they ever haven been in cinema history....because all the digital tech, internet and resources are finally affordable to practically anyone. You just dont know where to look or you wait for an anomaly like this to pop up on the radar. Also, maybe check out more foreign films. There is a lot of stuff out there like this and even better.

    • @johne.nobody2946
      @johne.nobody2946 5 місяців тому

@@avidadolares correction? Dude, it’s a literal fact, you can Google it. And your correction is an opinion at that? It’s you expressing how well-versed in the arts you are? That’s a correction? Do you have any notion how snobby this sounds, especially because you literally don’t seem to understand what a correction is? It’s not your personal feelings on something as opposed to objective, documented fact, there’s a hint.
I have a vast collection of foreign films and have decidedly broad tastes. Maybe “correct” yourself or, at least, like, make sense in some remote way at all. You basically said, “Actually, correction here, there are more unique films than this, and I’m very smart and worldly, and here’s some tips on how to be less pee-brained,” when all I was doing was stating what is a Googleable fact having to do with data analytics not knowing how to categorize some films.

    Fall is here
    Hear the yell

    Ring the bell
    Brand new shoes
    Walking blues
    Climb the fence
    Books and pens
I can tell that we are gonna be friends
I can tell that we are gonna be friends
    Walk with me
    Suzy Lee
Through the park and by the tree
We will rest upon the ground and look at all the bugs we found
Safely walk to school without a sound
Safely walk to school without a sound
    Here we are
    No one else
We walk to school all by ourselves
    There’s dirt on our uniforms
From chasing all the ants and worms
We clean up and now it’s time to learn
We clean up and now it’s time to learn
    Numbers letters
    Learn to spell
Nouns and books and show and tell
Playtime we will throw the ball
    Back to class
    Through the hall
Teacher marks our height against the wall
Teacher marks our height against the wall
And we don’t notice any time pass
    And we don’t notice anything
We sit side by side in every class
Teacher thinks that I sound funny
But she likes the way you sing
Tonight I’ll dream while I’m in bed
When silly thoughts go through my head
    About the bugs and alphabet
And when I wake tomorrow I’ll bet
That you and I will walk together again

Such a Unique film. The sets, location, and costumes are mundane like real places or people you’d see, but the tone is almost like a dream. Lighting in a bottle it appears as the director was never able to see success as paralleled to his breakout hit (nacho libre is the closest thing). I love the characters, the music. It’s one of those movies I’ve seen so many times that while I may never have to see it again, it will stick with me forever. The sign of true art.

Wow the nostalgia hits hard with this one. I was 11 when this came out and we went to go see it in theaters for my brother's 16th birthday. My mom laughed so hard she cried. Now my family has all moved away, everyone is obsessed with their cell phones and their busy lives, and nothing is the same anymore. I miss life when everything was simple, I was a kid and all I had to worry about was school.

I only saw this film last year, nonetheless i loved it. It reminds me of Ferris Bueler, a simple story that, for some reason or another, makes me appreciate the simplicity in life at times.

I knew nothing about this film the first time I saw it. Was (am) a big White Stripes fan. After watching the title sequence paired perfectly with "We're going to be friends" it was already over for me. I knew Napoleon Dynamite was going to be something special.

Why is this so nostalgic? It’s just food and surfaces?? But it seems so familiar. Like yeah that’s how early 2000’s food and surfaces looked. Simple yet charming. Boring and does the job. Love this movie.

Most of those foods were also what I (and a million other people) ate growing up in the 60s. Didn’t change much. Although I never saw nachos until I moved from the east coast to, well, Idaho actually.
