Those backup singers were amazing. Everyone’s so beautiful. The pose at the end was ✨😩
SERIOUSLY! Those three show how it's done!
don't you just love it when rock stars go through their 70s phase.
Nope
@@CHodgy I feel bad for you Caleb.
@@philippelevesque5223 meh. I care cuz you do. Actor and Strange Mercy are 2 of my favourite albums. SV had a few good songs, but she's gotten a bit contrived since then IMO. This new stuff doesnt do anything for me, but I dont feel bad for anyone about it.
@@CHodgy We need Jack Antonoff to be arrested. This shit is his doing
Hey, it worked for Goldfrapp.
Only St Vincent could perform on SNL with her golden custom guitar looking like she just came home from the wildest party
I was thinking of the name for her aesthetic -- Seventies shabby sheik?
@@ChrizfromTO Yes haha or maybe "Narcotic New Wave Nostalgia"?
@@ChrizfromTO , “chic.”
@@vigolovesyou
Nice!
She is so badass
Mostly what we see here is exclusive. Either we get good backup singers, talented band, extravagant looks, badass guitar skills, cute voice or unique mood, but Anne, dude, you're combining it all every year
When people say there's no real music these days, just point them here.
yes yes yes yes yes
Those background singers snatched my soul...
"St. Joni ain't no phony, smoking reds where Furry sang the blues"
Great reference to Joni Mitchell's "Furry Sings The Blues" from her album "Hejira" (1976).
Her music references is just amazing
A creative engine. Doesn't hurt that her band is amazing. Those backup vocalists are amazing!
She is one of the most talented artists out there right now
one of the most talented artists of all time!!!
One of the few
A true talent and her back up singers are so tight with their flow🖤❤️🩹🖤
I love your profile picture!
@@aydonclikeman7258 OMG! How old are you?
I will NEVER tire of listening to her play guitar.
She simply does not play enough. So very very good at it.
Right. I noticed that too. The trick here is that she actually sucks at playing guitar, but she's really really really good at improvising so when she misses a note she knows when to bend it, etc.
She eats John Mayer for lunch and defecates Joe Bonamassa.
Her guitar playing is extraordinary and the calm she has with it is mesmerizing. I love her!
St vincent never disappoints us and these background vocal ladies sound wonderful
The drummer is crazy good, Mark Guiliana.
BEAT MUSIC! Love his electronic and traditional jazz stuff! Good eye.
I know people are falling in love with St.V’s performance and the incredible backup singers but just listened to the lyrics and really let it hit me just how much respect she’s giving to female performers from the past (singers and actresses). Her performance is ALWAYS stellar but the thing that has always caught me about St Vincent is her incredibly vivid and strong songwriting skills. Talk about poetry in motion. ❤
This one makes my eyes well up every time. I love a lot of music, new and old, and there hasn't been a record like Daddy's home in a very long time. St. Vincent and the Down and Out band really did it.
Anyone who knows who the people singing choir is? They're fucking greeeat
They're amazing!
left to right: Sy Smith, Neka Hamilton, Nayanna Holley.
They're my favorite part lol. Absolutely angelic and just give the performance so much depth.
DAMN SHE LOOKS AND SOUNDS GORGEOUS IN THIS PERFORM!!!
This was a AMAZING performance.
Yeah, she definitely gonna get another Grammy for sure!
girl
she doesn't even need a grammy
she is way above scammys
You were right!
She is so casual with that thing. So fucking good. The whole band and the singers so tight. Unbelievable !
I love how she blends so many different eras and styles in her music.
the women in the chorus sounds like angels
Shout out to the backup singers, they're doing so well🥰🥰
They gave her a custom sig model of her guitar with a hendrix style reverse head stock. Music man hookin her ass up! lol.
And omfg when they all stand up at the end... Brings back memories of the funky 70 days lol.
Since Music Man sued Musicvox for making a guitar with a 4 + 2 tuner arrangement, and Musicvox make guitars with 2 + 4 tuner arrangements, I think Music Man should expect a law suit anytime soon.
@@jameswarner5809 Lol They also sued and won against earvana since earvana has nuts that are basically the same as default nuts used on music man guitars.
Message to guitar people... Stop stealing shit lol. Might get sued. Just sayin... Copy right is a thing. I run a monogram shop and can't exactly profit off of putting basket ball team logos on peoples shirts... If I get caught they could take my shop away basically.
Music man is a decent company though. Don't really got any ill will towards em.
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 Fair enough in theory, except 4 + 2 tuner arrangement guitars had been made prior to Music Man putting a copyright on it, so: A. Why should they have been allowed to copyright it and; B. What's stopping anyone from copyrighting the industry standard 3 + 3 or 6 + 0 arrangements?
One of the many reasons why I return to watch this video over and over is to listen to the gorgeous, spot-on harmonies from the supremely talented background singers.
You killed this!!! One of my favorite SNL performances ever 🖤🖤
my fav snl performance, u were absolutely amazing! I hope you know that! love u
I love so much that you have been inspired by the 70s and 80s, one of my favorite snl's forever I can't wait to hear the full album for sure it will be the best
holy hells bells, how is she such a glamorous libra queen!!!!! so talented! so beautiful!
Pure brilliance. So smooth.
she looks so good
I could watch Annie play guitar all day long
I wanna listen to this song on a hill while it’s raining through my car speakers
incredible amazing show stopping breathtaking unique
she said: i’m gonna go soft of them now
Seriously, the ATTITUDE
I am loving this whole 70s vibe St.Vincent has entered
Why are you all comparing her to Bowie? Are you going to say the same to anyone who wears flared pants and does 70s-inspired rock?
she's not Bowie she's St. Vincent
SIT DOWN AND ENJOY
The times we are in look so bleak that about the only thing I think that might pull us out of the nosedive is a social revolution precipitated by music (and I lived to see music do this before so I know it's possible). And out there on the fringe of wherever it is that we are headed I see St Vincent. I don't know why she elicits that feeling in me because I wouldn't normally be drawn to her kind of music but I've been captivated by her and her energy and I can't shake the feeling that she is capable of inspiring a lot of people to take us in the direction we need to go. She is a beacon of trusting your own personal creative muse and riding that wave. Thanks Annie.
Whoever is playing the Hammond style organ is a badass.
Rachel Eckroth, the best in the business.
The ending makes me ASCEND TO THE HEAVENS
I can just picture those big red lips from RHPS lipsyncing to this song as the movie opens. As others referenced this has such a 70's vibe. 💓
She's one of a kind!
this has to be my fav from the album so far omg im so excited
I am OBSESSED with her look here. The coat. The dress. The hair. The makeup. This is the kind of feminine I desperately want to be, but unfortunately I am broke 😔
That moment with her riffing fills on her guitar surrounded by the BG singers belting it out was magic. Lot of musical talent on that stage and Annie is the party planner that puts this all in motion. I think the 70s packaging is a bit contrived from a wardrobe perspective but why not play dress up if it fit's the album's concept? This is genuine live music, performed by really talented musicians on mostly vintage instruments and just makes all of the other stuff filling up the charts seem kind of pathetic and plastic. This performance had soul and most of the other ones you see on SNL, not so much. Well done Annie!
Becks bass player. The best in the solar system.
I knew he looked familiar!
and Beck's guitar player too. Jason Falkner, the best!
Justin Meldal Johnsen. Also played with NIN and does plenty of producing.
And for any bassists out there, his signature Mustang bass he’s usually playing (not here) is KILLER. Best bass I’ve ever played.
Ive gotta be honest i was initially turned off by the vintage revivalism of this album but its really growing on me. Plus the production is so clean goddamn
Same here, esp this performance.
That’s Giuliana on the drums!!
There’s so much that goes into an act like this. It has to be nostalgic, powerful, current, SEXY, and completely en pointe. She nailed it all. I love St. Vincent.
I put sexy in all caps because that’s what we all want.
She is so f*ckin good. Keep seeing the Bowie reference, but IMO this is Lou all the way. When they stand up it reminds me of Prince. I love the band; saw them do "Down" somewhere else. those BU singers, the one on left esp are bad!
I love er so much.
She is an incredibly talented woman. Artists like her make me feel faith in the future of the music industry.
Amazing artist ! Loved the background vocalists too, and the whole band in fact ! great job boys and girls and people !
Fantastic
One of my favorite songs on a killer album.
I love St. Vincent and this song in particular but once you think of Science Fiction/Double Feature from Rocky Horror Picture Show it’s like Do You Want to Build a Snowman? & Papa Can You Hear Me? all over again. Lol😂😂😂
there is definitely a bowie influence on these now songs ala "diamond dogs" and "young americans".
And a little bit of "Starman" in the guitar solo!
Bowie IS her favourite artist iirc, so the influence is a given at this point
She is the heir apparent to Bowie's legacy, a complete original who reflects the era she inhabits through a prism.
Bowie was a genius .
St Vincent wants to be one .
@@ciaranosullivan9352 don’t be a hater dear
And that's Bowie's last drummer on the drumz, people
@@bluecrueful So? He was being auditioned when playing on SNL...
What a lucky audiences
she always amazes me
This performance is just so slick
queen 💛✨
On a lounge chair! Your guitar God could never...
The most underrated artist
amazing how compelling her performances are, even though very simple in a way--no flying from the rafters, or 300 back up dancers twirling things, etc.
what a pool of talent on this one, from JMJ to guiliana to the singers.
Yeah, the analog kind of humbles them.
I also like when electronic artists go through their 80's phase.
Watch her sing with Nirvana. Incredible!!
Teasing with the short guitar solos eh
The most pure of version of this song, makes me cry…
Justin Meldal-Johnsen is so awesome
she never misses
A performer who fully commits - every time, hit or miss - is wonderful.
Candy Darling forever
Pure and utter art! It’s fantastical!
Sending some love for Justin Meldal-Johnsen and his outstanding bass performance and Hofner tone.
What a fucking beast that guy is
The. Hottest. Woman. On. The. Planet. And she likes the legendary composer Philip Glass.
Iconic ❤
Annie is God-dess
Chef's kiss
Super strong and forever in my heart: the backvocal singers. What a treasure! Superb beyond.
I love her.
omg this is so good 😭 i can't wait to see her perform this live
I am pretty sure it's not easy to play this master piece. And it is very well executed.
So many Bowie/Rocky Horror vibes.
And the drummer (Mark Guiliana) is literally the one who played on Bowie‘s last record. Very well fitting.
@@halt.halt.halt. Guiliana was actually auditioning for the tour on SNL... 2 of the singers didn't make the cut.
Te amo St.Vincent ❤️
The best female singer in the world.
Skye Edwards from Morcheeba is in that conversation too but I love Annie and she's definitely top 3 if not 1 no matter what.
So, is that Beck playing electric sitar? If not, who is it? It wouldn’t be the first Beck/JMJ collaboration...
Jason Falkner
I'm defo your Daddy! (j/k I really enjoy your talent, and other ASSets!
Speechless....talent doesn't even begin to describe this performer.
Awesome support singers.
fabulous!
The best SNL performance of all time!!!!
Jason Falkner on guitar!!!
this is so hot
I know what I want next Christmas morning, the same girl in the same outfit singing that song to wake me up. I just need to find a armchair.
... love the coordination of the backing vocals... nice mix!
Love to see a St. Vincent/H.E.R. guitar collab.
The voices the chorus the sounds the atmosphere...Magnificent 🤗😇🤙
An artistic genius! ✨🎸
