As a kid growing up in The Heart of Dixie I had a paper route where I delivered the 2 local papers and the NY Times, so I essentially had a subscription to the Times from when I was about 10 until I was 46. I finally stopped it because I was so sickened and disappointed by what the paper had become.
You delivered papers at 46?
Just kidding. It’s sad what these institutions have become. Wokism is destroying our society.
What has it become? I don't read it so I don't know.

Gore Vidal, Noam Chomsky, and Alexander Cockburn complained about the Times in the 1980s. Maher needs to get with it.
Could not agree more. As a subscriber for decades, I constantly consider canceling my subscription. Why can’t they report more facts with all the resources?
The publish scores (hundreds?) of articles per day. Do you really see a lack of facts? I don't.

Couldn't have said it better. Every article ia framed in a way that you're directly aware of the authors political belives. But I notice that with a lot of American news outlets. Everytime I go to RCP it's just articles framed in one way or the other. Its so stupid and tiring.
I feel much the same about Bill as Bill feels about the NY Times.
Except Bill is an entertainer and commentator. He isn’t expected or obligated to deliver objective reporting. He can take a position and editorialize, that’s his job. The Times’ reporters are supposed to be objective

That is the problem with a lot of newspapers ; no longer are they " neutral" either they are right or left but they no longer are factual
They have to be factual or they get sued - unlike internet news. You can sue the internet but there is heavy duty law to keep newspapers legit. The editorial page is the only page where there will be opinions.

When I was studying American Expansionism (Yellow journalism William Randolph Hurst) and even further back than that the Federalist Papers were published in the NY Times. The NY Times was something you could set your clock to the reporting was so solid. There was always a yellow journalism aspect to world journalists, but it was relatively small and unnoticeable because that news didn't make it in the NY Times. Then, Vietnam happened and it shook the journalistic world and injected a certain amount of hysteria. Maybe that started during McCarthy and Roy Cohn in the 50's, but "The BS was piling up so high in Vietnam, you needed wings to stay above it". Captain Willard "Apocalypse Now".
Journalism took a big dive, but as a historian, Boston Globe and NY Times are the best archives of news from 1880-2000. Thomas L. Friedman predicted the conflict with Hamas and Israel. "Lexus and the Olive Tree" was an optimists vision of the middle east with a strong warning about Hamas, but the reality was predicted in "Longitudes and Attitudes" 2002. He's still with the NY Times. Something else happened where journalists didn't want to be hunted. Jamal Khashohggi and Salman Rushdie. Maybe they don't want to be knifed so the morons in the industry are getting some air time because our society is still disturbed by this germaphobia phenomenon.. Just a theory.
I thought Howie Mandel would have gone off the hinges by now, but he seems rational next to what I encounter all the time in food shopping stores. It is so weird. Like COVID exists there more than anywhere because many people are touching thing. I still see masks outside and in cars alone. 🤣🤣

My mom read it every day (our local one) and every day it made her mad lol but she used to get so upset if we sneaked a peek first at the comics. It had to be crinkle free.

Metabolic syndrome from a bad diet and possibly he drinks too much alcohol. Either/or /both can give you a big belly.
