Thank you for a great flashback of my wife and myself made this trip from central Ca. to there in Feb. of this year. The catch 22 on the overflow parking lot that doesn't get talked about is most of the people that use it have checked out of Ft. Wilderness and want to spend a few more hours in the park, which causes the problem you guys had. We stayed there 14 days, with 10 days in the parks. We are seniors, so we needed a couple of days break .Thank you again for the great video. And happy birthday Jamie.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the happy birthday! What you say here makes so much sense! I kind of thought that many of those campers were people that got there at the crack of dawn going to the parks before they got their site assigned. I never realized people parked their campers there to go to a park for their checkout day. As hyper as I am that would be to much even for me, I have never been one to do that at the end of Disney trip even when I was in my 30's. Disney will wear me out! We live so far from there too, not as far as you, wow CA! How long of a drive was that or did you rent a camper or cabin? I also felt like the golf cart trailers need their own place to park, if they did then the lot would be able to handle this. I have Part 2 posting on the channel this Sunday 10/13/24. You'll have more flashbacks coming! There will be a total of 4 parts, we cover everything we did and what the campground has to offer. Again thank you so much for your comment. Comments help ad so much value to a video, I wish more would chime in. Just no nasty grams LOL! We learn from the comments as much as anyone reading. One last thing, how was February at the Fort?
Came across y'all's channel and the Disney Wilderness campground video and instantly subscribed. Great info and video footage. Stay safe and looking forward to more of your videos. Happy Birthday also !!!! Lol 🎉
Happy Birthday, Jaime!!! Another fantastic episode! And on Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort!!! So exciting! And I love the epic music for when you got there. It's so awesome that you got to be there for two whole weeks. I can't wait to see more content!
Thank you! I spend more time finding the right music than anything 😁 it takes at least 2 weeks to get it all in and you still walk away not doing it all.
Thank you! I used in this video GoPro Hero 9, and 11. The 9 was used on the camper as the camper cam when driving. The 11 i used when driving around in the golf cart and when we do the talking. I used the 11 everywhere. I Also used a Blackmagic Design Cinema 6K. The really clear hi res shots were done with the Blackmagic. I used this some of the time like at the ranch. I limited the use if this because its to professional and heavy. All Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Mics we used dji microphones made for content creators. The blackmagic camera I used a DJI Ronin RS2 gimbal. I’m probably going to make a video to show at the first of the year about the equipment I use and how I make it look good. We just got iPhone 15 pro max that makes some great video those phone will be in a video we made in the Smoky Mountains which will come out after the fort series is done. That iPhone 15 will be our most used in the future. Its small i can fit it in my pocket and i don’t look professional. My blackmagic camera makes some fantastic shots because it is a professional cinema camera but it looks professional too. It stands out and calls to much attention. Why you dont want to look pro? Becasue places like disney had rules about commercial videogrpahy. UA-cam vlogging is not commercial so its ok to do what i did. But they dont know that so i had a manager of the ranch come to me ask me who i was and what i was doing. Had to explain the whole thing. He still seemed a little weird abou tit almost like he didnt believe me. So yea that camera looks like your making a movie 🤣. At the restaurant trails end at pioneer hall i had some again ask me who i was with that camera. when we just used the gorpo 11 never got one comment. I’ll mention that in my future video about eqipment used and why you don’t want to look like a pro. Also the Fort is now our favorite! We’ll be back again next year and i’ll make more on it!
This may be premature since I know you have more videos coming but here are a few things that I have learned. Remember that Sundays are normally travel (check-out) days. Also this would have been the day before labor day. 3 times I have stayed at Fort Wilderness. 2020 I checked in the Tuesday after labor day and I actually had booked my site at noon the day I checked in and arrived about 3 hours later and didn't have to wait. in 2022 I arrived the Wednesday before thanksgiving and did not have to wait. I was also just there bout 3 weeks before you and checked in on Tuesday, August 6. We got there at 12:30 and did not have to wait. The lessons that I am taking from this are do not check in on a Sunday or Monday and get there early on the day you do check in so you are there before other people and their cars are not in the way to make is easier to get into the site. Also, if people are not aware, they actually do clean the campsites at Fort Wilderness. They make sure the concrete is clean, they clean the sewer pan, and they make sure the picnic tables are where they want them.
And 1 more thing I have learned. Fort Wilderness is kind of like a locals campground. It will be empty through the week and fill up on the weekend. The 3 times that I've stayed there I was there 10 nights each time and saw this every time. I arrive early in the week or middle of the week and people roll in on Friday and by Sunday afternoon the place is empty again.
Thank you for watching! Good points! Next year we are arriving on a Saturday and we will see how that goes. We plan on doing a 1:00 check in then too. We called ahead and made a request for the 600 loop that could have caused a delay. In the next episode you can slightly tell and even in this one the site is damp. You can actually see the staff golf cart at the site next to us finishing up washing off as we round the corner. So it could be they had to wait for my request??? Thank you for your great input!
Exactly how it happened with us too. You hit it right. We stayed 14 days. Arrived on a Sunday as you saw then Monday we got back from Animal Kingdom and it was emptied out. Now you mention it Friday that week people rolled in. Then Monday it cleared out again Then Friday they piled in again. Makes so much sense because we saw a lot of Florida tags too. I bet they get a great resident discount, Tonya and I just need to move to Florida!
Thanks for watching!!! So when I did the online check in about a week before I checked a box of some kind that said arrive before 3:00. When I read blogs everywhere I saw 1:00 for RV’s and 3:00 for cabins. So when the app said 3:00 is check in time I scratched my head. Folks also said on the same blogs that you can specify what loop you would like. So neither of those were options in the online checkin on the app. All i saw was I could specify if I have sides on both sides and awnings. Then it said will you arrive before 3:00, so I checked yes before 3:00. So I found the front office direct number on a blog, called that, got the front desk of the campground. I was able to add a note to my reservations that we would like to be in the 600 loop which we did get. I asked her about the checkin time. I said I hear 1:00 for RV’s she said no it was 3:00. But we could arrive earlier than that but our site may not be ready before 3:00. I went ahead with my plan to arrive at 1:00 and you saw the rest. So what should I have done? Is there something I missed? Any secrets? What was it like when you booked and checked in what did you do?. We plan on going back next year and any help would be appreciated for next time!
@@GlampReview we have always arrived at or before 1? Our site has always been ready. Never had to pull around like you did. Like you if I wanted a loop I called front desk reservation number and requested. So maybe I have just been lucky. We have even camped with friends and requested sites together and obviously they didn’t guarantee this request but we got them right next to each other and we both arrived early. So I have no idea about any tricks just what we have experienced.
Well maybe we got someone new at the check in window? Because she didn’t give us hardly info like how to even get back into the park if we drove off. The security guard had to help us with that on our last day as we left to fill up the truck. And to get our site number assigned so fast. I felt like she should of gave our site number as we waited. Then she said typically checkin is between 3 and 5 like she said on video. Well next time we’ll show at 1:00 and see how it goes.
@@GlampReview I saw your check in and that is the fastest and least amount of information I have ever seen at Fort Wilderness. Actually I thought she was kinda rushing you. Just worried about your kitties.
She was rushing me, thats what I thought too. Seems to be our luck. That part was not edited much I only took out the time where I was signing the pet contract. So what you saw was it. Had to be a new employee. At first I thought 2 hours. I’m going to have to idol my truck that long which would be horrible for it. But i was going to have to for our cats. Unfortunately we don’t have an on board generator for the camper. But then to our surprise we got a text about as soon as we finally found somewhere to park.
No not ugly at all. We talked about that in our video “Camp Gulf” stop 3 on the Summer RV Tour. Tonya explains it because someone else asked the same thing!. In short to be back there with our cats Simon and Annie. Simon gets antsy and has to stretch sometimes but we dont want them roaming around. So she is back there with our fur babies. Annie has travel anxiety, hates riding in cars so we give her medication for anxiety so shes a little needy lol. Simon is needy in that he needs attention. He also gets car sick so sometimes he throws up and shes back there to clean that up. We give him motion meds which seem to work. But now i think we are finding he gets nervous and gets sick from that. Anyways good question no offense. I think maybe we will need to explain that in every episode 🤣. I promise it’s not that the little lady has to ride in the back seat, i’m not like that 😂 Thank you or watching and asking!

Why do you ride in the back seat. Just curious, not being ugly. I promise. My guess is you get car sick in front.
