I am 65 years old. I am amazed at the incredible advances in our understanding of planets and the universe due to our space probes over all these years. Things that were merely controversial theories (plate tectonics, swirling disk star system formation, etc.) when I was in elementary school, are now IMAGED and proven by our robot explorers. I am also amazed at the ignorance of some supposedly well educated individuals that claim money spent on space is "wasted" and should be used for "things on Earth", ........as they talk and text on a cellphone using American spy satellite, NASA telecommunications, computer and military navigation satellite technology.
I remember watching the Moon Landings. At the time people were talking about Moon Colonies by the year 1990 and Mars colonies by 2010. There is a picture of a Woman pushing a wheelchair with a kid in it carrying a sign that read, "Dollars for Space, Pennies for the Poor." That ended the space programs going forward. It was no longer Politically popular to go further into space. Truly sad.

@i-love-space390 I agree people are foolish to say Space Exploration is a waste. So much of our tech and understanding of human biology and medicine has come from space. Much of that is all down to the Shuttle, the mist complex and brilliant machine ever built. Spacehab, Hubble, satellite recovery/repair/deployment missions that were too complex for non manned missions. A vehicle that could carry 7 astronauts and a huge payload capacity is something we still don’t have since retirement of the Shuttle’s. The fatal accidents were not liable to happen again due to redesign of the solid rocket boosters and the full inspection of the heat shield tiles on orbit following the Columbia disaster. Shame those levels of safety were not carried out before the accident as tile damage was a common “in family” issue that whilst not usually deadly was an issue that was never completely eradicated (although the final design of the external fuel tank heavily reduced this). Space travel is dangerous and the Shuttle was very complex but we made it as safe as possible in its final decade of operation. Perhaps Discovery should have been retired due to its mileage but Atlantis and especially Endeavour had much more life in them to use until present day and/or until new shuttles were built to replace Columbia and retired Discovery. This would have kept the shuttle program running. Whilst the Shuttle wasn’t suitable for a moon or Mars mission it WAS ideal to help carry payloads to orbit to assist new NASA and Elon Musk vehicles for the proposed moon base and Mars missions. Building materials, extra fuel, oxygen, CO2 scrubbers, food etc could be carried to orbit to rendezvous with those vehicles so they could ferry back to the moon. Even if they didn’t help with that the Shuttle would still play a part in doing in orbit experiments, satellite repairs etc. Those 2 astronauts stuck on the ISS would be home now if we still had the shuttles running. A terrible waste having the only vehicles that can carry 7 people sat in museums when they could be helping us in space. Sadly I think too much infrastructure and servicing companies no longer exist even if we brought the 2 shuttle’s out of retirement but if the will was there I’m sure they could (booster and main engines are still made, albeit an extra segment on SRB’s for the SLS moon mission and RS25’s that are made for single use) but those could easily be re manufactured back to shuttle specification. New launch platforms would be required, some of the computers and internal components would need to be upgraded but it’s possible. Or maybe just build new shuttles with some improvements.
ISRO Chairman is rightly pushing for a lander along with Orbiter Earlier designs of VOM had thought about a balloon probe to stay floating for long in a safe height of the atmosphere with tolerable atmospheric pressure Launch window is approaching in 2028, I hope he gets either one of these two ready ASAP No idea when we will be going there again
Most of the problems with Venus was due to the lack of a Moon, rotational failure. Saving Venus would involve changing the orbit of some dwarf planet and causing an impact to kick the core and surface in to a spin and Moon formation. Truth be told, Terraforming it would likely be an actual possibility if we could engineer a large enough impact, unlike the pie in the sky Mars dreams.
Thank you - interesting topic. Thank you also for referring me to Jatan - I’ve been enjoying the Monday “moonday” news letter for a month now. Great stuff!
Three space agencies are planning missions to Venus: India's VOM, ESA's EnVision, and NASA's Da Vinci. These missions aim to study Venus's surface, atmosphere, and geological history, potentially revealing insights about Earth's future and exoplanets.
If the earth nearly stops rotating and begins to rotate in the opposit direction and loses its magnetosphere. Then the Earth and Venus will be very similar.
1:32 - You may nice videos. Congratulations! But there is an information here I object: the Veneras "survived" on the harsh environment on Venus even a little more than two (2) hours.
Really hanging out for a mission to the surface; it's been over 40 years since Venera 15. Surely, there have been advancements in materials that could better protect a lander (even with a small rover or drone) on the surface. Even surviving a few days would be worth it (in my mind, at least). The "DAVINCI" mission is novel, which is very cool. Is there anywhere other than Australia (and possibly Aotearoa/NZ) where "vom" is a colloquialism for "vomit"?
@ExcavationNation Yes, and they show them at 1:25 The problem is they barely worked for s few minutes due to the extreme conditions on the surface (and being Russian). @benetfernandezvalles847 ¡Pero si mencionan esas sondas en el vídeo! Vete ha hacer propaganda rusa a tu casa.
