Man I used to listen to this great Chic live performance and John Coltrane's music when I was going through one of the toughest times in my life. I will never forget this song and live performance by Chic - I'll never forget it.
Listening to this in 2024. Right on time. Just found out a guy I have a child with has been cheating on me with his coworker for 10 years. At last I am free of his lies and deception and I am back on the market.
Chic played at our state fair in 1979. They featured 3 female violinists for the string section and they kicked ass that night. RIP to Tony Thompson (drummer) and Bernard Edwards (bassist).
@@ATLienForLife hmm, I sent it, but in case it doesn't eventually post, you'll find it if you search UA-cam for Phil Hogg At the Movie livestream 47. Have a good day! 🌞
This is a jam. Love it all...the bass, Niles, Sylver, and the sax dude...this song is underrated, and one of Chics best...simple bed allowing for a great groove.
So grateful to UA-cam for having this "real 🎶 at our fingertips enabling us to take a much-needed virtual reprieve/vacation from the utter madness/insanity that is spewed out daily on urban 📻 stations. Thank you, Brother Nile, for the decades of exemplary outpouring of spiritually-uplifting, soothing 🎼 that has carried us through our most darkest of trials and tribulations. Most of the so-called rappers today cannot read English let alone 🎶. Your concerts have always been a momentous occasion that always sent us home soaking wet and immensely satisfied!
Glad to see Omar Hakim playing on this song as he was the original drummer for CHIC before Tony Thompson. He was too young at the time to play in the clubs so they had to find an older drummer. But,just know that Omar Hakim was the original drummer for Chic!
unbelievable performance of all of them, really enjoy it every time i listen, each one one of them at there highest level....love it so much, so sorry not to be there that evening....
1978 was when this song appeared on the "C'est Chic" album -- what year was this concert ? This must be after 1996, when Bernard Edwards (bass) passed. As she says, it is "old school r&b today" having life breathed back into it by Rodgers.
Thanks to a german movie Barbara i discovered this amazing song.

Yeah, Chic strings were Cheryl Hong, Karen Milne & the late Valerie Heywood.
@@ATLienForLifeCool! Thanks for their names :) There's never been strings except maybe fiddle at any of the fair concerts I've been to :)
@@ATLienForLifeI just saw a really nice piano and voice version on livestream from NE England from @philhoggmusic totally different

Never recorded in 1978...!!! It is in Amsterdam Paradiso!!!!
Great, really great💕
That Sax player was 💯
I liked Chic in the mid-70's but Sylver Logan Sharp and Jessica Wagner took them to a different level.......in my opinion!
Opinion validated👏🏾

Why does this say "1978"? It ain't.
Someone got the original song year mixed up with this performance.

This is more of a excellent cover
Naw, it's not a cover. Nile and Chic are performing their own song, that Nile wrote & recorded.
@@ATLienForLife my fault good correction
@@clydie7006 No problem. Sometimes I go overboard on small details. Lol

Ouro da babilônia
The song is not from 1978. In 78 there was still Bernard Edwards on the electric bass.
The song was released in 1978. This performance was recorded I'm pretty sure in 2004.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Fodassa 😍
how it would have been with bernhard? think about it
It would've been unbelievable!
Title is cap. Appreciate the show however
Is this the original female singer of the song? She sounds so close but...
The original female singers were Luci Martin & Alfa Anderson (with Norma Jean Wright singing in background)

This is not ftom 1978, ya'll lol
I mean this is not a video from 1978
...chi sono le due cantanti?
Listen also to Robert Wyatt: ua-cam.com/video/6xQx4G11pRo/v-deo.html

Eugene Johnson dead
@@zakariahlafreniere1332 I think he means Bernard Edwards.
Its barry johnson
By "other bass player" are you referring to Jerry Barnes (Nile's 1st replacement)? Or the original bassist, the late great Bernard Edwards!
Funny how now Rogers opens up the intro would just that direct hard picking, not like the studio version...
I don't like the sexy approach. This song is about spiritual liberation to me.
I prefer the Elisabeth Fraser version
