  • Prince & The Revolution - Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) 1985 & 1984
The first 10 minutes are from Miami 85 Rehearsal which is then mixed into 84 First Avenue birthday show. The aim of this video is not to pretend that it is one song but rather to create a mix of the two best takes ever apropos achieving surround sound.
The first version provides 10 minutes of bliss jamming which is proceeded by 10 minutes of the proper song.
I think together you get 10 minutes of epic jamming followed by a perfect performance by the Revolution.

Because he was not a pop artist . He was The Artist . Un matched and multi talented where few artists are far in between that could do what he could do. And those stick to one genre . This verdin would have been perfect in the purple rain movie instead of darling Nikki.

When Mozart can spin on top of his piano in high heels while playing a scorching guitar solo and conducting a dangerous band...then we can talk. Symphony No. 40 in G minor is a classic for the ages, but Prince was the King of our generation. Steve Vai, Dave Grohl, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, Gwen Stefani, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, and Miles Davis to name a few all bowed their heads or tipped their hats to the Purple Yoda. Sander, you ain't wrong. Not in the slightest.

Prince Was Asked By An Interviewer "If You Had 1 Wish,What Would It Be"? Prince Said "To Be Able To Play As Good As Sonny Thompson". Thanks To Sonny Thompson Who Taught Prince How To Play Many Instruments From The Inside,Rather Than Playing An Instrument From The Outside Of The Body. Sonny Thompson Said Prince Was Like A Sponge As A Young Kid. You Teach Him Something,Then Next Time He Comes Back,He's Doing It Better Than He Was Taught!!! Yes Prince Was The BRUCE LEE Of Music !

Since he was a multi faceted instrumentalist, an arranger, writer, producer, etc etc, he could do anything on any song of his or anyone else’s. Which was extremely rare and still is. Who doesn’t want to duet with Michael Jackson on a song then re makes the song to a version that he likes and sends it back saying “ this is how it should be”? No one but Prince.

    • @kayrobbie5840

Red Rush - The mistake MJ made is Prince wants to be involved before the project is finished, not after. He did the same thing with We Are The World. Prince did not like the song and wanted to contribute a song of his own. Lionel Ritchie and MJ both said no. So Prince did contribute his own song. That is the way he operated his whole career.

Prince was such a genius of production (look up the story of him insisting at age 18 that only he would produce his albums to the guys at warner brothers) that he could have spent the rest of his life just rearranging his classics and it would still be more original than anyone else... Man prince why did u have to leave us???

Damn Chuck, I ask the same question every time I hear him & even when I'm not. I've always loved music, all kinds. Some folks have asked how I know every word to so many songs of multiple genres. Now, though, I have the need 2 learn about the intricacies of music, the language, notes, wa-wa peddles, EVERYTHING. Prince awoke that curiosity in me. It's amazing - this zeal he brought about in me. Thanx Chuck. ☮️

One thing that I really miss is the anticipation I used to feel while waiting for the next release. It was never too fast for me nor too slow. Even though there is music in the vault that can be released, it looks like most long time fans will be brought down by the elevator before the material is released... look at what happened with Deliverance. I’m glad I got my hands on the tracks before they were pulled back by the Prince estate holders.

Really ? According to Prince Vault, the first live appearance of the song seems to be on the very last date of the 1999 Tour, in Chicago, 10 april 1983, as a part of the piano section.
The song was played only on very seldom occasions in the 80's.

Prince was truly a one of a kind musician, singer, songwriter. His musical gift was very unique and exceptional. How many performers can take a version of someone else's songs mixed it with his own and it comes out sounding great. He just had the natural ability to blend songs so well. I will always miss this man.
