The Dodgers did not "pitch Scherzer's arm to death" lol. They were limiting how many pitches he threw and then Scherzer went I didn't get to throw as many pitches as I usually do and blamed the Dodgers for trying to save his arm lmao.

Limiting your pitches actually would mess up your arm. You want your body to get used to the usual load, so if you limit a pitcher and then go full throttle that’s a recipe for injury. For example: you would want to train at a peak, then you would want to decrease that to 70-80% at game day.

Great to see new Rangers content! But... if you're going to put this out, please fact check it.
1/? Marcus Semien was signed first, not Corey Seager.
2/? The team was absolutely built (mostly by Jon Daniels). The catalysts in the playoffs were homegrown: Evan Carter, Leody Taveras, Cody Bradford, and Jose Leclerc were all Texas draftees.
2.5/? Others were early trade aquistions who finished development with Texas: Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, and Josh Sborz.
3/? Sure, we'd not have done it without Nathan Eovaldi -- but show me one World Series team whose entire rotation doesn't feature a single free-agent ace.
4/? The 'Dave Roberts killed Scherzer' narrative doesn't stand up to 2022 169 ERA+/2.62 FIP, his own-admission that he requested to close out that game for the Dodgers, or the frustration he has expressed that the Dodgers in the 2021 playoffs. He was throwing hurt in 2023 --> declining results. I'd love to have Mad Max throwing at the start of 2024 as much as anyone, but durability declines with age. Call it what it is.
5/? Montgomery will be a stud for whoever signs him...but choosing to hand out a 5-year contract when deGrom, Mahle, Rocker, and White all profile to be in the rotation through 2026 and beyond alongside Eovaldi/Dunning/Bradford by the end of 2024 seems foolhardy. Pretty sure CY would offer 1 year, 40 million to Gumy in a heartbeat, but that just isn't what's in consideration right now. Being strategic about which roster spots actually need filling is not 'giving up' -- much as fans who want to become the Dodgers/Yankees 3.0 might say otherwise.
6/? The bullpen does need help, but this 'they haven't addressed it yet so they won't!' narrative is highly preemptive. Circle back in March and give me the "ownership gave up" pitch if no moves are made to address that part of the staff by then (I'd wager they will be).
7/? if Texas is giving up, how on earth is Seattle getting better?? Have you paid attention to their offseason, which has consisted of dumping talent for payroll relief, telling the fans the goal is to win 54% of games rather than make the playofs, and outright admitting to ownership handing down a salary cap that will restrict their ability to add to what was an outstanding roster just 2 years ago.

Fellow rangers fan. If we do not sign Montgomery we lost this offseason. And it’s all balley sports fault. They’re being a horses rear with their tv deal and we could potentially miss out on 111 million dollars this year. Which has got Ray Davis scared to spend. He doesn’t want to spend money he doesn’t have. From a fans perspective, pretty much every single starter we got is made of glass. Monty was the only one who seemed reliable and healthy. We need guys who eat innings for breakfast. Then at the end of the season all the studs will deal when they need to. And I think we HAVE to spend. Bc we are in a position to be the first repeat Champions in like 25 years or something stupid like that. Getting our ring is great. I want our team in the history books as being the first to do it in over 2 decades.
If we don’t sign Monty, here’s where I think we go from here. At the mid season when we bring up Wyatt Langford, then see where the Mets are at. I’d Trade Nate Lowe, Kumar Rocker, and Leody Taveras to the Mets for Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz/Kodai Senga. Imagine the order being Semien, Seager, Alonso, Garcia, Carter, Jung, Heim, Langford, and ig Duran idrk who our DH would be.
Bottom line, we HAVE to make some moves. We won’t win sitting back and being content.

@@pjayrush7637If the Rangers end up not getting the TV rights deal they will be losing $111 million in 2024 until they can find another partner. So financialy they aren't exactly certain of the future budget they will be workng with and and as much as I love Montgomery and he will always be a Rangers Legend for what he did for us paying him $20-23 million for 5-6 years at the age of 30 is one of the factors that the Rangers were in such a bad situation for years after our previous world series appearances (prince fielder and Shin-Soo Choo) obviously fielders injury could never have been predicted both incredibly consistent but overpaying instead of relying on player development from the Rangers farm system or making a similar trade like the trade for Montgomery again next season is something the Rangers have had success with in previous years. The Rangers still have to pay Garcia, Carter, Carter and Taveras. Montgomery was essential in the Rangers success this year but the Ranger's Rotation was banged up almost all year we finally have good depth Montgomery will be sorely missed if unfortunately, he doesn't return but the Rangers can make other moves whether that's a player already with the organization or an addition from outside the organization.

Funny how every white boy says there dead arm issues are from being over used but every asian pitcher says there arm only gets stronger the more they use it. I think baseball has let there salaries get out of hand. I'll never make 70mil in a lifetime but there's a guy making it per year and the amount of money these people make seems like made up amounts. There should be a limit. I realize they play 162 games a year plus playoff but how do you justify these amounts when it cost a family of 4 hundreds to thousands of dollars just to go to a game. 12$ drinks, 15$ dollar hot dogs. If food cost that much in a grocery store the majority of us would starve. There is allot to say about it and when I get started all I do is ramble, but how in the hell does anyone think this is ok. Seeing a ball game used to be a thing everyone could do, now, it's a luxury that only the rich can afford. Baseball is slowly losing me as a fan. No players hits a home run every at bat but you pay then 30.il a year knowing that there stats will go up and down year by year. Owners should ban together and say there just not going to do it. How can any player say they are being treated unfairly when there uniforms are washed for them, layer out ready for game day. Luggage is carried for them. We are turning them into premadonnas. How many sign contracts that are huge and the very next season they suck big time.

While I agree they are a worse team than last year currently, I can't say they're punting 2024 away. It is brought up that Jordan Montgomery was their savior to close out the season and in October which is true, but it's not like they were some horrible team without him. They were 63-46 before Monty even pitched a game for them. While their rotation currently isn't ideal, it is serviceable and given Mahle and Scherzer will return mid-season, the early season will be their toughest battle. There's a chance deGrom even returns in August as a late season reinforcement. What they really need to focus on is the bullpen as that single handedly cost them the division and almost a playoff spot. With one of the best offenses in the league, they will remain a threat.
Edit: Rangers were 63-46, not 63-48 before Monty's first start.

Does anyone know what kind of year DeGrom had after his first Tommy John surgery? I think DeGrom has one or 2 dominant years left. If that gets the Rangers another title it was worth it. If Rangers can hold the ship at 500 or so by mid season they could have Max, Tyler, Jason and maybe even Kershaw. That's alot of CY winners pitching when it matters the most. I think Cody Bradford will have a breakout year based on what I saw at the end of last year. And Teodo looks like he'll be a future closer as he developed a 100 mph 2 seam FB that's difficult to hit. Some think he's ready. That would help their bull pen without spending a king's ransom on a free agent. Rangers could be better.

We lost an arm, maybe two, and suddenly only a few months into offseason the Rangers have supposedly "given up"?
I'll save my concern for if we can't get Garver back. We were first in the division for half the season without Scherzer, Montgomery and DeGrom and we can do it again if we just don't go on insane loss streaks.

One aquision that the Rangers need to spend for is a closer. The Padres just signed a Japanese closer, so that assures the Hader will be available. If the Rangers don't sign Hader it is a guarentee that they will regret it later. They are using DSG backing out of TV contract as an excuse for not spending to get anyone. It is a guarentee that before the start of next season someone will pay to have the broadcast rights for Ranger games. Does management really think that no one will pay to have the broadcast rights for the WS champs? Come on!

Pretty sure that the team wanted to let Martin walk. We could have matched 1 year, $8M...but where was he going to pitch? He was shelved in the 'pen during the playoffs despite no deGrom/Scherzer, and that's before you consider White and Winn as possible starting options. Texas doesn't have the rotation space for him. Glad he got his ring; also glad he'll have the chance to play in Pittsburgh.

Martin was definitely not a ace but he was a 10+ game winner for them in five different seasons he was reliable, ate innings Don’t underestimate that I don’t care where the prospect ranks in what top 100 and less you approved you can play major-league baseball. I can see you’ve already gotten blasted in most of the comments because of your laziness in making this video, let me just add the obvious. Free agency isn’t over. The Rangers had 3 needs going into free agency. Bullpen help, a DH, and a starting pitcher.
They signed Yates for the bullpen, they sign Mahle as a starter. I foresee Langford coming up and splitting time with Carter in left field and the DH role. How in the world does that translate as giving up.?
How many other teams have better 9 batters than the Rangers? The Dodgers and maybe the Braves?
You’re telling me Evo, Gray, Dunning, Heaney and Bradford aren’t a solid rotation?
