    Excellent videos. I greatly benefit from pausing, replaying and playing in slow motion. Where I'm moving to, Mauy Thai is not available nearby, so I thought I'd try some online lessons to see how I like it - and I love it! You've convinced me to continue to learn more, so mission accomplished!

    Actually well done. I wanted to learn kickboxing at a local gym for 150$ a month. I don't have that much money on hand. Thought I could learn online since everything is online now. Anyway you got a workout I can do along side practicing your tips and lessons.

      150 a month...? I can train a year for money like that. I think it's like 150-200 for a year for martial arts.
      Edit: just checked the first martial art I could find and it's 27,50 per month. And since july and august aren't counted due to heat and people going on holiday, that's 275 per year.

      +Michael Smith sometimes you need to look at it as paying come one to teach you. if you go often enough , and pay around 5 bucks every time you go for the month. you're coming out with the better part of the deal . I paid 1k for the whole year at my gym, was a deal. if I train 4-6 times a week , times that by 4 then divide that by your overall cost. it justifies spending that. just stay committed, it's a great thing to learn and I encourage it for all people.

    Great video. Question, if your hands are in the higher Thai guard, do you drop them slightly to throw punches, or throw them from your hands in the higher position? When you demonstrate the punches they seem to start with your arms in a lower starting position. Thank you for the great videos!

    • @provokedraven8423
      @provokedraven8423 5 років тому +2

      I saw no one replied to your comment, if you are still having trouble with your non-dominant side. What you do is slow down the movement alot to focus on control and postitioning. THe way to do this is to swueeze your muscle tightly as your doing the movement slowly focusing on form. I would also recommend doing all you non-dominant training first before switching to your dominant side. ITs harder to focus on control after youre already tired.

    • @ArashiDoNorthEdmonton
      @ArashiDoNorthEdmonton  4 роки тому

      Oh ya for sure. The majority of people that train Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu don't start with competition in mind. There are a ton of other benefits. Be sure to try out a class or two first so you get a chance to see how the club is (clean, proper equipment etc), are the instructors and students nice and how they teach the students. Have fun and good luck.

      @ArashiDoNorthEdmonton  5 років тому +3

      Grandmaster Ruqsana Begum uses leggins under the shorts, so its allowed. Peculiar enough Ruqsana fights european female style in sport bra. While most thai girls uses t-shirt. Ruqsana is a muslim from a deeply believing family Bangladesh ancestry living in England.

    • @skaruts
      @skaruts 5 років тому

      The problem with pants (and long shorts) is that they can get in the way of free-fluid-movement. But some of them don't, so it's a matter of trying out different ones. A sweatsuit might be ok. As a last resort I suppose you could buy some karate pants or any of the pants that are used in some martial art. Those should work nicely.

    • @ArashiDoNorthEdmonton
      @ArashiDoNorthEdmonton  3 роки тому

      Bamm, best of both worlds. Most Thais are under 5'6" and around 120lbs and Dutch tend to be over 6'and over 200lbs. Which suits you best? Thais usually have smaller upper body mass which leads to a high guard and an emphasis on elbows and clinch. Dutch tend to have broad shoulders which encourages more punches.
      That said... you should do both and find what works best for you.
