otro proyecto...........guau, que belleza. Motorhome soñado para mí, precioso, iconico y elegante. Felicitaciones y sigan adelante con esas restauraciones. Espectacular
My dad and mom bought one of these back in the mid 90's. Traveled the usa for years. The front wheel drive was over the top! Go anywhere. Do anything! Love it.
It is one of the most beautiful GMC I’ve ever seen even better than the company that’s in Florida that rebuilts them excellent job even though I know it was six years ago I would buy it in a heartbeat
The powertrain is 100% Toronado with the 455 CU engine and the sidewinder transmission, connected to the engine by a mesh chain. The Toronado was originally assembled on a dedicated assembly line in Lansing, MI; I used to walk by that line every day, in the late 60's early 70's. It was the most hand-built car in all of GM. The assy line was off in one corner of the huge Olds main assembly plant. The engine and transmission were mounted on a cradle/sub-frame, then the Toronado body mated to the powertrain. Periodically, an engine/tranny/frame set was assembled, but pulled off the line, and never installed in a Toronado. That powertrain unit was then diverted and shipped to the site where the GMC RV was assembled. Voila, the powertrain was installed in the RV. So all GMC RV's of this vintage were running GM Olds Toronado powertrains from Lansing, MI.
This is my idea of what a motorhome should be. It's smaller than most of today's RVs, and yet it looks like two adults could live in it comfortably. I'd buy one if I had someone to share in the experience. I'd keep as much of the GMC Motorhome as original as possible, but I'd also upgrade a few things to make it more modern. 🙂
Absolutely outstanding. I'd say as close to perfection as possible. An impressive modern class A motor home in a classic 1970's look. Well done sir and to all involved, God bless you all. I sincerely hope that you live healthily for many, many, many years so you can do lots of these incredibly beautiful motor homes. You are a genius!
Wow... you guys did an absolutely phenomenal job!!! It is a beauty!!!! GMC is crazy not to start manufacturing these again. Put in a cassette toilet accessed from the outside, a couple of 200 watt solar panels on the roof, raise the bathroom ceiling with a skylight and "fantastic fan", and make the back area a dedicated queen size bed and it will be the hit on the market!!!! This looks so easy to drive... Fantastic restoration... GMC should take note and move on this quickly!
I remember seeing this things on the road in the mid to late 80's. Back then I thought they were made in that year lol. That is how futuristic these motorhomes looked and still do! It is very cool to see the way you guys restore them so beautifully. I like the design of the black gloss along the windows and how it gives it that distinctive look. I think some LED lights would look even better.
This is my idea of what a motorhome should be. It's small enough that anyone with a driver's license can drive, but it's also large enough, at 26' that one could live in it comfortably while travelling.
It's already have been rare to find such a nice one in blue, but in this light stainless-blue, I just felt in love to that. 😍 Sadly already sold, if I may find it one day in the same great shape like you made it, I'll try to buy it instantly - if I can afford it ...
Somehow I never tire watching this video. This unit is amazing. Would that I could afford to have my 26', Sovereign Airstream given such a makeover. This ingenuity we see here is just what America great, although I am fearful of a down low in such ingenuity that I hope President Trump can reverse! Thank you for such a visual treat.
I would have purchased this and put it up for rent so anyone could enjoy a weekend or week in a nostalgic not so intimidating rig. GMC really was ahead of their time.
Amazing how little had to be replaced - seems like not much needed more than a buff - so it was great you were able to pretty much use everything as-is...but it looks good...kudos!!
Would it be difficult to convert one of these to right-hand drive? Could the dash be reproduced in fibreglass perhaps, in RHD configuration? Could the steering box and linkages be replaced by parts from an export model Chev of some type?
Surely this has been SOLD! If not, where is this unit?? What is the round, black thing on top? Is it a new dish system? Why did the electronic ignition system not work?
Outstanding great build. Was it you that build the one had the huge flip down to at the front. It was same colour as the? Question would you build another like that and at what cost may l ask please?
We do have one other 1976 GMC Eleganza II we sold which has a youtube video under that name and is similar in color. Right now we are not scheduled to build another one
They installed the system out of FEAR, not out of a necessity. There is no reason a 455 block engine should catch fire, aside from a cracked distributor. And the odds are better than 95% that if that occurred while the vehicle was running it would simply die (no longer having an input of vaporized fuel). Many race cars do have fire suppression systems built in. Then again, the fuel used is so volatile it can explode from a single spark when out of the engine.
Ravaun: Now you get in to the race car systems? These are not meant for everyday driving by normal people, race cars are inherently dangerous, normal vehicles should be inherently safe. We could go for years discussing/arguing the point about fire suppression systems and other safety topics but I choose to end this now. Your point is taken, and understood. Take care my friend, bye:) ✋
What are treated to here in this fine video is a look at what made this country great. It's called good, ol' fashioned American ingenuity. Excellence by any other name. And a product of this robust American ingenuity is someone named Hobbs Cienda Boo Yah!
Super nice restoration!! My only complaint would be that you had not put fuel injection on it with so many stand alone fuel injection systems out there.
@Hobbs Cienda....I see you've outdone yourself again. Bravo. A work of art. A Da Vinci on four wheels. Just what will you do for encores after this? Say, Hobbs, I'm interested in buying this wonder? Ya think you can fly with layaway? lol!!! Okay. I was just askin'. Jeez.

I'm speechless. This is such a thoughtful restoration. I love that you chose flat panel walnut cabinetry. Stunning! It has an MCM vibe.

I NEVER TRUST those who hide their prices.
Wow. Just incredibly beautiful. Worth EVERY penny asked.

It is just breathtaking gm broke my heart when they stopped production in 1978 I wish I owned this beautiful classic
History meets modern-day technology! _What an absolutely awesome restore - Beautiful work, sir!_

This is a classic show stopper because it's better than new. A one-of-a-kind worth the money. Have a great weekend and you got a thumbs-up from me.

Jay Leno needs this for his collection!
Thank you. Please let him know.
Fuck Jay Leno
Eat your heart out, Jay Leno. 🙂
Well, there you go. On your first video I said "keep it, you won't find one better." And now, I have been proven wrong.
Bravo!👍
Beautiful restoration.
43 years brand new. Amazing! Cool!
Absolutely awesome. Better than new by far.
Amazing design machine...Bravo to old original creative US designers that are scarce these days... Greetings from Pakistan ❤️💐👍👏
Now that one is pretty close to perfect gorgeous GMC home
If I had the money, I would buy this in a heartbeat.
lol, @ 3:50 look at the lil drone go! luv it!! Still, awesome rig you have there! Good job!
You should have said what you didn't replace, been easier!
That is correct.
Beautiful Rebuild job, I especially like the Alison Transmission. The fuel injection would have a great improvement, now why did you rebuild it ?
Lovely looking GMC Motorhome. :)
It's already have been rare to find such a nice one in blue, but in this light stainless-blue, I just felt in love to that. 😍

Can you update for when you sell it what you sold for? I'm thinking of maybe getting one of these babies. Looks nice.
You could buy this one. ;-)
Hobbs Cienda
I'm looking to redo an old one myself. Thank you

That motorhome is gorgeous!
*WOW* You do such a great job! Find some more GMC's and fix them up. I hope you made some $$ on this sale with all that you did!
How much?
Looks great. I like the body colored bumpers. The only addition would be solar.
I would have purchased this and put it up for rent so anyone could enjoy a weekend or week in a nostalgic not so intimidating rig. GMC really was ahead of their time.
and some turds would destroy it for you in no time flat.......you'd do that once and regret it forever.
Anyone know why the fuel injection didn’t work out on it?
Amazing how little had to be replaced - seems like not much needed more than a buff - so it was great you were able to pretty much use everything as-is...but it looks good...kudos!!
Love these GMC BEAUTY
Take a shot every time he says new and you will have one drunk comment section lol.
Awesome !!! beautiful colour and chrome wheels.
My god did they open the factory back up? Thanks
Would it be difficult to convert one of these to right-hand drive? Could the dash be reproduced in fibreglass perhaps, in RHD configuration? Could the steering box and linkages be replaced by parts from an export model Chev of some type?
Alll I know is.
Everybody is certainly Relieved and excited to get these GMCs Sold. 👍😁😉🤔
So beautiful!! Better than most New RV out there. How much was the whole thing sold for?
Surely this has been SOLD! If not, where is this unit?? What is the round, black thing on top? Is it a new dish system? Why did the electronic ignition system not work?
I would love to have this vehicle!
Outstanding great build.

Beautiful 😍 how much did All the upgrades cost and how much was it finally sold for?
100k
My dad bought a new 1975 26 ft Sequoia in Chicago and drove it to our home in Boca Raton FL. I'm going to buy another one.
looks awesome, much nicer looking than modern stuff. I want one. :-)
Maribel, I wish I was in a position to be able to donate this GMC.
@Hobbs...I can't help but wonder what you'd do with my 1985 Sovereign Airstream, a 26 footer.
This has a tow hitch.Could it you like a car chevy Cleveland?
Or is weight limit?
Yes it is capable of towing a pull car. Lighter is better in regards to mileage and steep hill highway speed.
Fire suppression system in the engine bay??
Is this an aircraft?
😱
Front and rear caps are made of fiberglass. The material tends to melt/burn when it has a flame applied. They're just being super cautious.
Ravaun:
If that is the case, then it is a design flaw, right?
Why not install fire suppression in ALL vehicles?
They installed the system out of FEAR, not out of a necessity. There is no reason a 455 block engine should catch fire, aside from a cracked distributor. And the odds are better than 95% that if that occurred while the vehicle was running it would simply die (no longer having an input of vaporized fuel).

Take care my friend, bye:)
✋
It seems that batteries cause more fires than the engine on these.
Plus, there is only one door to get out.
Wow, must wish I was rich to do that to that RV like you are.
How do I contact the owner of the beast?
hobbscienda@gmail.com
What are treated to here in this fine video is a look at what made this country great. It's called good, ol' fashioned American ingenuity. Excellence by any other name. And a product of this robust American ingenuity is someone named Hobbs Cienda Boo Yah!
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!!!
What is the Allison transmission conversion?
That my friend is a salesman trying to get too much out of a camper , and not knowing what he is talking about
great job!but why not swap a LS engine for better fuel economy and power?
455 way better torque at lower RPM.
An LS? No way. If anything, I would swap the 455 with a 6V53TA.
Joseph Heston diesel wouldn't be a bad idea but is it too much work?and why not a modern cummins?
Buff Barnaby not by much i guess but a lot worse MPG
The FWD Oldsmobile transmission couldn't handle Diesel power .
So how much did this jewel sell for?
They will never say. But I think about maybe 275000 to 300000.
And for how much something like that would be sold?
Anything original left?
Wow! Awesome!!! Always always wanted one! Beautiful job!!!
new air in tires ?
Can this be driven wit car licence? Or do I need a I heavy Vehicle licence to drive this is Road. Planning tip a across America rout 66.
This can be driven with a regular automobile license as well as qualified as a class A motorhome.
It's not commercial, so no special license required.
Correct.
You don't need a CDL even for a bus conversion, so this would be nothing as far as licensing goes.
what work have you done?
I would like to arrange a viewing, how would you like to do this?
Hi I'm in the uk , how much for something like this , with lpg , on uk spec
We do have a deposit on it and the buyer wanted us to make some further additions for their needs.
I NEW someone would wind up with this treasure!!!
#Hobbs Cienda
Do you do wood gasifier conversions for diesel engines?
Frigging unreal 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✊✊💪. l always loved these things they were like an earth version of the chariot on Lost ln Space.
Is it true that they've gone into production again ?
No no no but... ever since they stopped building these GM has heavily influenced the market by putting their parts on other brand RVs.
lovely looking mobile home.
What is it going to sell for? Tom
We would like to get $109,000 which is far less than what we currently have into it. We would also consider partial trades.
Super nice restoration!! My only complaint would be that you had not put fuel injection on it with so many stand alone fuel injection systems out there.
We would be happy to install fuel injection if the next buyer would like it.
With all these nice and luxurious features you added, Why stopp there, you might as well have thrown in the driver and passenger "Seat Ejects" !
Did you replace the original with a transmission with O/D?
What a gem!
She's a beaut, Clark! I'd take her in a second.
Shitter's full!
are you a robot?

@Hobbs Cienda....I see you've outdone yourself again. Bravo. A work of art. A Da Vinci on four wheels. Just what will you do for encores after this? Say, Hobbs, I'm interested in buying this wonder? Ya think you can fly with layaway? lol!!! Okay. I was just askin'. Jeez.
