  • Siberia’s remote and volcano-studded Kamchatka Peninsula on Russia’s east coast (goo.gl/uwNGy3) is home to many indigenous peoples, including the semi-nomadic Koryaks - whose name means “of the reindeer.” Koryaks hunt and fish, and are best known as reindeer herders. Travelers on MIR’s tour, “Remote Russia: Yakutia & Kamchatka,"" (goo.gl/Xr4T7R) experience a Koryak folk performance that reflects their nature-focused way of life, such as imitating the sounds of seagulls and mammals.
    Once off-limits to foreigners during Soviet times, UNESCO-listed Kamchatka Peninsula is one of the world’s wildest natural settings - a must-see destination for intrepid travelers. MIR's tour also explores Yakutia, where more than 40% of the land sits above the Arctic Circle. This is the land of mammoths, diamonds, UNESCO-listed 650-feet-tall Lena Pillars, and Yakutsk - the world's largest city built on permafrost.

    I grew up going to pow wows in the USA. If these Koryak people performed there, they'd be seen as one of their own.

      It’s crazy that the dances and music haven’t changed that much in 20,000 years, such that music at pow wows is so similar to this (their ancestral people).

    Even same hand drum. They dont show too much of their culture because they know we would one day make the connection.

    I love everything about this! The lush forest, king of the forest and teepee in the back, and the performance is great, the girl stole the show!

    I could actually see the connection to Native American culture if Native Americans did migrate from Siberia region to the Americas

    • @lukelayman893
      @lukelayman893 2 роки тому +2

      Our stories don't tell anything about crossing into the Americas. Our languages are too diversified and cultures are so grounded into the land regardless of any migration. Many people originated through oceans and lands on the continent through all directions- not really Siberia

    That is exactly what they say are native americans. Same teepee structure dance garb. Similiar dance different pow wow. Same phenotype. native americans are different from aboriginal americans and american indians. Anyone can be a native to their own land or country.

      The ancestors of Native Americans are Siberians and East Asians. The Native Americans today are related to the Siberians and DNA is proof. Everyone else that claim they are Native American and don't look Native american is a scam and made up fantasies. About 70,000 years ago the bering land bridge connected siberia and North America. Many crossed into the Americas around 35,000 years ago. They became isolated about 11,000 years ago when the ice bridge melted. Science is there and DNA is proof of ancient remains that are about 15,000 years old in North and South america show they came from the siberian steppes and east asian ancestory not of Europe or Africa. People need to do research and study this. I feel like everyone now days want to play the scientist and make up fantasies
