The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is a legend and an icon. Long the only watch equally welcome poolside and trackside at the world's biggest races, the Daytona is redolent of 100-octane and testosterone.
Since 1965, Rolex has sponsored the annual mid-winter 24-hour endurance race, and the company's legendary chronograph has been presented to the fortunate victors in each class. Also owned and worn by the likes of driver/actor Paul Newman and Sir Jackie Stewart, the Daytona enjoys a pedigree and history that is second to none.
This Rolex Daytona 116523 in stainless steel and 18-karat yellow gold features Rolex's own blend of gold, a unique product that will never fade or change color like inferior gold alloys commonly used in the luxury watch industry. This outstanding quality is achieved thanks to Rolex's control of the entire metallurgical process; the company is among the few watchmakers that owns and runs an in-house foundry.
This Cosmograph Daytona 116523 combines Rolex steel and yellow gold with a comparatively rare early “needle hand” Cosmograph dial. In fact, this two-tone Rolex Daytona several hallmarks that define the earliest “in-house” movement Cosmographs. The narrow hands, the lack of a “Rolex-Rolex” chapter ring, the prominent minute hashes at 27 and 33, and the “pointy 4” in the constant seconds dial characterize this model as a “Mark I” caliber 4130 dial.
The caliber 4130 automatic movement debuted in 2000 as the first Rolex in-house Daytona movement. With a 72-hour power reserve, COSC Swiss-Chronometer certification, and a rugged architecture worthy of a Rolex Oyster, the Cal. 4130 proved immediately worthy of the Rolex crown. Durability and grace under fire are provided courtesy of Rolex’s signature free-sprung balance and full balance bridge architecture for shock resistance. A hand-made Breguet overcoil hairspring in the earliest variant or Rolex’s Parachrom antimagnetic alloy ensures superb isochronism in any position and resistance to the magnetic flux of modern home-office electronics.

Why do some people prefer the movement of the Rolex modified El Primero Zenith( 4030) over the newer Rolex In House( 4130)? What is there in the Rolex modified El Primero Zenith( 4030) movement that these people love? Thanks.
Secretariat It's older and rarer lol. It's historically significant as it's the first automatic Daytona and really helped make the Daytona the desirable luxury watch today. And usually when Rolex stops making a model, that model enjoys a price jump on the secondary market as collectors and "watch investors" scramble to get a piece of discontinued Rolex history.

If I may ask, personally, which do you prefer for a Two Tone Daytona, the White or the Panda Dial? And why? The reason on why I'm asking is because I am kinda confused between a White or Panda Dial Rolex Daytona.

Foxy 77 lol no chump, actually just bought a brand new Mercedes and I have a 2006 Rolex submariner with date, I personally think you are WAY to young for a Rolex, you will just look like an idiot kid who got one for nothing (which is true), hell, you haven’t even graduated from high school yet (LOL!). You would appreciate that Rolex immensely if you had to flip burgers to pay for it, or if you graduated from a top notch university and received it as a graduation present (like I did, I received mine for graduating college). You’ll understand in another 10 years.
