    Yup. I got 131 miles on the highway with the climate on maintaining roughly 75 mph average. This is not a highway car. It’s a very nice car, overall, for your local city/suburban driving.

      A lot of people would consider that a range anxiety nightmare. Gotta keep an eye on the ol' state of charge, for sure. Perfect for many though.

    Excellent real-world review! An EV from this brand is the only one I'd consider and am in fact seriously considering this RZ. This would take care of 95% of my driving habits and Lexus offers about 3 yrs of loaner vehicles included with the purchase, for any longer trips. I am opting for the Premium so as to maximize the range. Thought I'd be sacrificing the Mark Levinson system which I have in another car, but I found that the native system in this car is really very good.

    I work at Toyota HQ in Plano, Tx and we get killer employee lease deals on these. I’m thinking about getting one, we usually use my wife’s Highlander to drive long distances, I’d just be using this to drive the 16 miles to work 3x a week and errands on the weekend

      For a great lease deal, this will be a solid commuter. It's a solid vehicle if range and charging speed are not big issues.

    Hey Eric, I'm wondering about the numbers you posted. 110kWh to go 212 miles seems off. Lexus says the RZ450E has a 63kWh usable pack (71kWh net) and you did 185 miles on a full charge which averages out to 2.94mi/kWh.
    If 63kWh could get you 185 miles and you did 212 miles total on 110kWh, why did the final 27 miles require a whopping 47kWh of additional energy? That would work out to a miserable 0.57mi/kWh for the final leg of your journey. It doesn't make sense.

      Hi Anthony - great comment. When I got to the charger I had driven 173 miles.
      According to EA, I charged for 9m 8s and received 52.04kW at a max charging rate of 141 kW. However, I had not charged the battery fully and RZ showed it was only about 40% charged. (I assume the charge indicator is not accurate)
      When I got home, I charged overnight to 100% and added 57.97 kWh. Total used was 110.01.
      So I did not us 52kWh to go 185 miles. I used a a bit more than that go 173 miles. The charge rate was beginning to taper and I wanted to get home so I drove pretty quickly on my last leg, also gaining about 500+ vertical feet and driving up the hill with traffic doing 75 or more for the rest of the journey.
      The final leg of my journey was 39 miles. The battery was not flat when I arrived home, but ultimately I added 58kWh at home. so let's say I actually used 50kWh to to 39 miles. That works out to 0.8 mi/kWh which actually is not unreasonable. I've seen less than < 1 mi/kWh driving fast before in my Mach E GT.
      The car I'm driving is clearly marked as a prototype, so I'm assuming that programming, battery capacity etc are not reflective of a production vehicle.

      @@revmatchtv There's no way you put 52.04kw into the car in 9min 8secs! That's a charge rate of over 300kw/hr! EA messed up somehow, but the most you could have added to the battery in 9.14 minutes would be about 20kw with 9 to 18kwh being more likely. Total consumption for 173 miles should be ~55-65 kwh.

    mmm.. Wondering why Lexus's rz450e have different range. In the US it only has 196 (20's) -220 (18's) miles (315 - 354 km's) while in other countries it's around 279 miles (450 km's) while in Japan it's rated at 306 (20's) - 331 (18's) (494 - 534 km's).

    Tested in the Netherlands, 280 up to 325 km real world range, given the small battery pack, good. 15 years warranty, an industry first. Finally a bev with resale value! Very silent, fast, efficient motors. This car will receive some software updates later this year, expected range 400km. So why on eart tge focus on range???? Very few drive more than 300km's daily! It is complete nonsense. Every journalist is focused to complain about range... utter nonsense.
    And if you want range, wait for Lexus 2026...... range more than 1000km with solid state. Yes, I'm Toyota insider.

    • @jijdom
      @jijdom 8 місяців тому

      Because people dont have time to sit 30+ mins to charge a car. Also i know the Netherlands is a small country where people dont actually use a car that much. Look at France, Germany, US, UK where people actually drive about 200km, it would be much easier to just refuel your tank in 5mins and go (and refueling is not even needed daily but every 1000km so once a week).
      Another very important point, we dont have to contstantly worry about recharging while keeping our time management in mind all day long.
      Last when you go on a vacation you dont want to charge 10 times on your way when you go to southern france for example.

    • @jijdom
      @jijdom 8 місяців тому

      And you worry about going faster than 100kmh as it will deplete your battery faster, you worry about using AC as it will affect your range, worry about using any feature for range, worry about cold weather which will affect your range, worry about occupied charging stations whereever you go. Electric cars will never replace ICE in this state unless the government pays for it, which of course mean that poor people will pay for it.

    • @avdp9095
      @avdp9095 8 місяців тому +1

      @@jijdom 200km's daily, very few do that. 280 upt to 325, even 345km for the RZ, sufficient for 95%.... . Charging in 30 minutes, all Bev's charge in 30 minutes. ID4, Etrons, Ipace etc etc. Only Tesla's charging faster. It is with a reason Lexus don't want us to fast charge, it is killing for the batteries....same for all Bev's.
      So if you drive 250km, you can charge at home, street or office, and you have another 250km, in 30 minutes... . So 500km a day, cost you only 30 minutes.
      This RZ was tested against a Bmw Ev in the Netherlands, and both did 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, source: Autovisie (leading Carmagazine in the Netherlands).
      They pointed out that the RZ was a very comfortable, very well finished, extremly quiet and fast EV with considering the small battery pack, good range and efficient motors.... . It is not a Tesla but certainly not a bad EV.

    • @avdp9095
      @avdp9095 8 місяців тому

      @@jijdom it will when they come up with 600mls or 800km even 1200km of range... . Ice is over and out, in Europe, eventually in the States as well, het used to it, all due to climate nonsense.... .
      I will drive our Lexus plugin as long as possible.... .
      I hate Bev's for another reason, complete dull driving experience...they all are the same Teska, Mustang, Id, etc etc. No engine noise, lots of road noise, hars suspension, very limited comfort etc etc.
      In that respect the RZ is the best EV, no road noise at all, very good suspension and comfort.....

    • @jijdom
      @jijdom 8 місяців тому

      @@avdp9095 few dew maybe in The Netherlands, but the rest of the world people who actually use car do drive 200 a week, very possible if you exclude the netherlands which is a very small country. Also you dont actually use 100% capability of the battery to drive. Nobody takes the risk to drive below 15%, so when you are at 20% you already need to worry about where and when to charge. And when tou do actually charge nobody will sit for one hour to charge to 100% but stop at 80% which is usually 30mins (which still is a lot of wasted time). So effectively of the 100% capacity people usually use only 60% of the battery. Assuming this car can go 300km on a single charge you effectively only use about 60-70% of this range which is only about 195km which means you cant go from cologne to frankfurt and back on a single or two charges which means you waste time with charging for at least one hour and the during your drive you need to worry about driving style, not going too fast, not to use too much features like AC or Heated seats, heaters, etc. Not really the future…

Terrible driving quality! panel glitches! yes it has good autonomy and charging speed! but if the battery is damaged you have to buy another one and they are not cheap!! now the lexus is better at everything than the tesla except for autonomy and charging speed! but here in europe they give me a million kilometers warranty on batteries and motors! car quality is light years ahead of teslas! I'd rather have a reliable, quality and guaranteed car than have another 100 kilometers of autonomy.. stop making videos like this and do real things that matter.. autonomy and loading speed is not everything!
