I have a VERY forward horse and feel like I'm using my reins every 2 seconds and it never really slows him down. I want to go bridleless with him some day and I love how you're all about connection first! Hoping to try this with him soon!

Or as we would say in Australia, riding a horse with a bridle, but without a BIT, or as we call that piece of tack in Australia, a "Bitless bridle" the tack terminology in America is very different to Australia. Horses for courses as they say. Love your video's, very easy to grasp, and very informative.
Bareback isn't liberty. A saddle is far more comfortable than bareback for both rider and horse. That said I think that a bit of bareback at slow speeds isn't a problem. Also bareback will be more confortable (for the horse and the rider) on horses with a deep spinal process.
Whether you are using the reins, your leg or your stick to steer you are still using driving pressure to make it happen. Just using your leg or stick does not mean it is better than using reins. It's obvious in the video that the horse is being driven and is not changing its idea by whichever aid you use. That is, the horse is moving to avoid the pressure and instead of going with the pressure. I want my horse to follow a feel and not move to escape a feel.

Build that connection. Take your time. Make sure you and your horse are well versed in the basics.

As far as position goes, I would say use a rope halter with lead line converted to reins, not a bit.
Now for the more advanced test of that connection: Do the same exercises in the big open pasture.
Explain to your viewers about how a horse moves away from pressure............pressure from the leg, pressure from the stick.
Now, how to go bareback...? I'm really into this form of stress free 'liberty'....I believe when we empower the horse, we empower ourselves
