It's a cheap Wilkinson-style Roller Bridge I got off eBay. It's an upgrade over the stock tune o matic, but I'd like to get something better in the future. The TV Jones pups are great. They're full and smooth sounding. Chimey but tamed. Better low end than the stock black tops pups.
I need to ask a couple questions, as I have a 5230T-140 on the way: What Pickups did you go with? Do you like that particular roller bridge and did you find it helpful?
I went with TV Jones Classics. I liked that particular roller bridge fine, but ended replacing it for a more schaller style roller bridge as opposed to Wilkinson. More for the looks. I found them both helpful with intonation.
@@matthewxiong2970 @Matthew Xiong I purchased the TV Jones Classics too. So the locking roller bridge didn't really have any added benefits for you over the Schaller/Tune-o-matic style roller bridge? Thats helpful, thanks!
The tuning needed work. I put in a roller bridge and lubricated the nut slots and bridge saddles. Medium gauge strings help the strings stay in tune too.
I’ve never played a Squier Classic vibe, but it’s a completely different guitar. Gretsch’s feel different from Squiers/Fenders, and these pickups are humbuckers as opposed to single coils.
It has a Wilkinson roller bridge. It’s not bad, but it can be inconvenient to adjust intonation. It’s fine for now, but I want to get a different style roller bridge in the future. I also put on TV Jones Classic pickups.
@@matthewxiong2970 I would be interested in your thoughts about the differences between the stock BT filterton pickups and the TV Jones Classics. I am considering this upgrade myself.
@@kylefuqua2778 Well worth it. I really did like the stock black top filtertron pickups, but it was too much on the bright side. I wanted something that maintained the twang, but had more of a balanced tone. The TV Jones Classics delivered that.
@@matthewxiong2970 great thanks! That has been my observation about the blacktop filtertron as well, although ithey do sound good. I haven't had this guitar long so I am going to try them for a while before switching. I just put all new wiring in my G5230T this week. Not sure if it is noticeable in tone, but I did not like the feel of the switch and the jack was weird. The cable would come out super easy. Anyway, thanks!
@@kylefuqua2778 I'm not a fan of the wiring either. I just never touched ANY of the knobs, because I either couldn't hear the difference or it would be changed way too much.
Love your tone and sound, but especially your choice of notes!
Thanks!
Tell me about that updated bridge and tv Jones pups!
Great job again

@@Guitar4christ89 the Schaller style roller bridge also didn’t need to be unlocked individually to adjust.
I want to play like this, you inspire!
Love the song and your tone
Sounds great
Lovely phrasing 👍🏼
Que tal la afinacion de la guitarra e visto comentarios negativos al respecto

Is it better than Squire Classic Vibe series?

@@matthewxiong2970 what issues did you face with that guitar?
@@Lasuertez none really. Minor tuning issues with the bigsby, but a few minor adjustments helped it to stay in tune now.
is that shirt for god or for man to see?
For man to see!
I have the same Gretsch. Do you mind sharing what bridge you put on this? Any other mods you have found useful?
