My Cadillac green 5230T was almost perfect out of the box. All that I've done was add the Vibramate Spoiler to the Bigsby, Might add a roller bridge, but things are pretty stable right now. Oh, and +1 for using a Franklin strap!
@@salsplace OK so a Reverb Roller Bridge ?? I suppose he would like to know the type, manufacturer and model. It is like when you ask a woman "what car does your fiance drive?" - "It is red."
Thanks for the great video, I just won the 140th Anniversary version in a contest and I am new to guitar so wanted to know about the controls, thanks so much!
Sounds killer. I got one of these guitars in a trade and I love it. Upgraded with locking tuners, Reverend soft spring in the Bigsby, Gotoh TOM bridge, new pots (1 meg master volume) and switched to humbucker sized p90s (the Blacktop Filtertrons were really cool, but I prefer the p90s)
@@qddk9545 - Just like Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstein, the guitar I wanted didn't exist, so I made it myself. It must suck having such a small brain and no imagination.
Nice video. Thanks! Handy to see what controls do. Just bought one. Similar set up problems, got it fixed in the shop. A roller bridge fitted and a soft spring on the Bigsby. Apart from that, a fine guitar! ⭐
Gretsch 5230: I've changed the bridge (Schaller Rollerbridge), the tuner (Harley Benton Locking Tuner) and the Humbucker (Gretsch Filtertron HS). I'm very satisfied now :-)
Volume controls that will not swell in intensity evenly are non linear volume pots. Generally they are less expensive for brands manufacture overseas. You pay more for linear volume controls.
nice tone... My only gripe was corroded strings - was prob sitting in warehouse - everything else was good. ended up changing the tone cap though - not essential. Tone is pretty much the same (used same value cap), but a little bit smoother. personally i use vol pedal for swells. Loving my Gretsch!
i have the exact same guitar, i want to replace the standard bridge with a roller bridge, finding the right one is a search yet to finish, can you give some info on the bridge
I don't see the link to the Grover locking tuners. What are they? I have the same guitar and want to swap to locking. BTW your guitar was made in October of 2020 based on the serial number.
Did I miss understand the click bait that you were going to clearly explain the functions of the control knobs. As a newby to this guitar and a beginner listening to you explain was like reading the Chinese phone book to me.
This guitar can sound very bright if you want to, but you can't hear the brightness in this video. The guitar is OK for jazz, rock and blues but is not too much dark for country and rockabilly things. And I'm a Tele player. ;)

I added a roller bridge for about $30 bucks. Made a big difference in tuning stability
What roller bridge did you go with?
@@ericrincon545 I bought it on reverb
@@salsplace Love reverb. Thanks!

Hey. Do you have a link for the P.90s you used? Interested as I'm exploring upgrade options for this model?
Link to p90s porfavor
You bought the wrong guitar.

You're right. I have this guitar. It's a good instrument and I love it... but it needs a good set up when you buy it.

Just got my Cadillac Green G5230T and love it. I even have a Franklin Strap (green thread)! Way to accessorize!
Thank you for the vid. I noticed that as well about the volume control: it's more like a light switch...it's either on or off.
I like that your'e using a Franklin Strap!
Interesting video but you need a louder narration - it's practically inaudible with the guitar at a reasonable volume.
Very cool, thank you. One question - Did you have to remove the bushings or do the Grover tuners pop right into existing Gretsch bushings?
Volume controls that will not swell in intensity evenly are non linear volume pots. Generally they are less expensive for brands manufacture overseas. You pay more for linear volume controls.
A volume pot can be changed, if you want to make those swells .

Not having a great swell might be significantly improved by replacing the existing pot with some other pot. Have you asked a teckie?
I'm having an issue with the string break angle.. ordered a roller br4. Hopefully it works out
Good video. I had to replace the switch on mine soon after I got it. So, do keep an eye on it. What Grover tuners did you put in there?

Tell your tech to change the treble bleed to get a swell function at the main volume

@@vincent_van_nunu Thanks. Had the guitar for about a week and so far so good. About to swap to a roller bridge and get the tuners next.
I really want that guitar in a left handed model.
Самые красивые и душевные гитары👍👍👍👍👍😁
So Vincent: was this Gretsch made in the US, China, Japan? and what year? Thanks.
China, not sure of year. Probably 2021?
Hay un poco de guitarra en tu reverb 🤣
After watching the video and reading the comments - save up and buy the Japanese version
Gretsch has some leftys too.
It has a maple top? How much does it weigh??
10.30 lb / 4.54 kg
I've owned several of these gretsch. They're very light weight, they're chambered. Most weigh 7lbs, and without the bigsby can be @ 6lbs.

Check out 3:22 or so?
Your guitar is about 10 times louder than your voice and you have to constantly change the volume up and down.
The info is great though.
i think the guitar sounds a little dull, maybe its the strings, not bright enough
Yeah, I play 11 on my jazzmarster but I think 9s or 10s on this are about right..also you don't need locking tuners if you lock tie the strings .
He might be going for a jazzier tone.

I agree, sounds pretty dark in this video. could be the amp. sounds quite different in this video ua-cam.com/video/ImTwk7kgfH4/v-deo.html
Voice volume not loud enough to be heard and guitar volume too loud. Need to balance the volumes better!!!
Sounds like he has a bad one. I've had a lot of electromatics and they were fine straight from the box. I think he must be Mr Picky!
I'm actually here to listen to the guitar so it didn't bother me
You don't seem to be happy with anything, you shoulda bought something else.
No way, it's a great guitar
What weight 11s are you using? I just bought the Nick 13 signature model-
Boring.
