Even though Gard could have deescalated the situation I see the logic in not suspending him. There would be no suspensions whatsoever if Howard didn’t hit the other assistant. I put Gard and Howard 50/50 responsible for the original altercation. Even though the original altercation was unbecoming, cooler heads were about to prevail before Howard struck the assistant. Howard is the only reason we’re talking about this and the only reason there are any suspensions.
Gard did not escalate the situation and I agree they were 50/50 squaring off like that if no punch was thrown its just a conversation. I think justice was done and the apology by Juwan was appropriate. Neither of the two head coaches owe each other an apology in my opinion.
Ya know i cant help but feel the racist undertone when it comes to black athletes and coaches by ESPNs analyst . Why is it a question of professionalism, and decorum when there was a reaction to a man grabbing his arm. Why do black people have to contain our emotions when we are the ones being encountered? Or why is it when Jocavic runs full speed into the back of another player its a “spirited” ,”emotional “ or just a lapse in judgment but when any black player does any of the same things our professionalism, our jobs and reputation are immediately questioned? Over my years watching sports I can say the number of white athletes and coaches fighting or being overly aggressive trumps the amount of blacks that do the same. But i guess thats why at basketball games there are police officers and actual tactical officers court side versus hockey and baseball games (were there are way more fights) you barely see any. Seth STRUGGLED to give any accountability or responsibility to the other coach and leaned into Juwon . Not to say any side was right in there actions but i find that alot of analyst in this network in particular struggle to analyze situations with unbiased POV and as of late tho there are more black analyst their counterparts are become more and more biased.
He grabbed Juwan just to tell why he called the timeout. They went back and forth and then were separated. It should have ended there. Juwan then slapped someone in the face. This has nothing to do with race. Juwan was childish. If the races were reversed, they'd get the same punishments
@@MaxJulien2701 again. When Jay asked Seth “why does he feel entitled enough to grab a mans arm to talk to him” Seth had nothing. As i said it has nothing to do with the punishments at all to me. Its about the creation of narrative. You cant say that you dont see how the picture is painting JH as a non professional and the white guy “ was just trying to talk to him” cmon man.
White people feel entitled always have always will in all honesty how can a white coach give a opinion when he hasn't faced adversity when he has been given everything. I really don't say that's racist or this but in my opinion why does he feel entitled to grab a guy and try to explain himself doesn't make sense to me and if you ain't a minority you can't speak about this because you don't know how it feels I think the punishment for the Wisconsin coach wasn't hard enough not only was it a slap on the wrist a big embarrassment I understand he should have not thrown the slap or punch but he should have not been provoked simple as that. Sad that they missed the ball on this one
Seth Greenberg doesn't feel like Greg Gard was wrong for grabbing Juwan Howard because he also feels entitled to grab another grown man to force him to do what he wants. I wonder why???
He did not grab him and take him to the grown. Juwan said some slick stuff as he walked by and greg stopped him to attempt to explain himself. I’ve seen coach k and izzo do the arm grab. Don’t walk by me and say I’ll remember that s$&t and then get mad cause I want to get your attention. And I’m a howard fan
You don't feel Howard was wrong to hit someone else beside Gard who you claim grab him with force. Imagine, he took his anger out on someone else. That's why he got suspended
Jwill saying Gard was standing at halfcourt starring down Juwan wanting to intimidate him yeah ok just listening to these hacks at Espn is comedy !! Im sure a stocky build 50 something year old guy wanted a piece of Howard and his team haha just listening to how they minimize everything Juwan Howard did was typical.
Coaches like John Chaney wouldn't have lasted one season in this day and age. He got heated with Calapari and threatened to kill him and there was no suspension. He pushed Calapari during a post-game nothing happened. Having said this, coach Howard was wrong for his actions and I hope he grows and learns from his actions.
Absolutely shameful, It's because of incidents like this that young black men are being killed in the streets of major metropolitan cities. Leaders have to set an example for the young men they are coaching. A perceived slight should never turn to violence. He called a timeout… so what. Remember and play better the next time. A minor disagreement can lead to a death sentence in the black community. We have to teach our young men to deal with adversity and live to fight another day. The actions of Juwan Howard feeds into the narrative that we can’t control our emotions and that there is strength in dealing with a minor disagreement with violence. The greater valor lies in taking the high road. Teach your team how to fight with their play on the court and to walk away from a bad situation. Coach Gard is equally to blame; he should not have forced a conversation (or touched) Coach Howard when he was trying to disengage and move his team through the line.
He absolutely deserved that. Glad he wasn't fired but the fact he still hasn't come out with a remorsefull/accountability message is pathetic. If he had swung at a player, or if he was a white coach swinging at a black coach, the uproar would have lost him his job within 48 hours. The fact this "man" hasn't stood up and said "i take full responsibility for my actions and I apologize" is already hurting any chances he may have at a NBA coaching gig down the line
Blow bys are immature AF anyways. Let's quit acting like Juwan throwing a fit is ok. He should be getting called out for not talking it out at the end like a mature adult.

JAY THE ENABLER at it again. BTW, this isnt the first time Juwan lost his head as a, IRONICALLY a "HEADCOACH." You know theres an agenda for Jay-Will here, because he always underplays the Juwan Howard factor here and deflect it on Gard and Ultimately Wisconsin. If we're gonna backtrack, Juwan got upset over something he triggered, a Wisconsin time out in response to their trap, then like a teenager he went and jeered and threatened a headcoach for everyone to see. To which Gard tried to explain himself, hence the "wait a minute" touch. Theres 2 ways to start a fight, by punking someone verbally or physically. I'm sick of people making the argument that Wisconsin's coach should be suspended as well because he grabbed Howard, man he gently touched his arm for a legit 1 second in a non aggressive matter, clearly he was just trying to talk to him, everyone's had that done to them before sometimes it's done by women and children and people don't turn around and then grab them and aggressively say don't you put your effin hands on me because it's not appropriate in that situation Howard overreacted because he was hot about his team getting blown out & the time out being called, he was the one that had beef not Wisconsin's head coach and then shortly after that Howard actually hit somebody who never touched him first after just telling Wisconsin's coach don't you put your hands on me, Howard demonstrated a street mentality and committed a comedy of errors in lack of leadership ability
I think you nailed this and is speaking on how it really went Down. To say Gard was acting aggressively first is a reach IMO. Howard just went straight agro no doubt

@@pyro200777 , Did you not see that Howard put his hands on Wisconsin's assistant head coach with no regard, he's didn't even practice what he just preached, He got suspended for throwing that punch and escalating the situation, not for the heated exchange he had with Wisconsin's head coach 🙄 Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it, you can't control what people do, but you can control how you react to it, Howard clearly overracted and didn't demonstrate quality leadership skills
The situation was already heated before Garb grabbed Juwan. No need to touch or talk to him. I’m not sure what happened with the AC. Looks like he was getting rough with a Michigan player and Juwan retaliated
To everyone who thinks that Juwan Howard had gotten over, think again; any hopes of the Wolverines making any tournament may had been dashed and there are recruits that may had changed their minds and will play somewhere else; so, there's a chance that he will be fired next season, if he finishes with a similar record than this year and may not be hired for another head coaching job again. That being said, I'm glad coach Gard had gotten fined; he was just as UNSPORTSMANLIKE of him to not ignore what'd Howard had said to him and he did put his hands on him. So, there you have it; if the Big Ten had this "cancel culture", both coaches had to be fired; one for "bullying"(Gard refusing to allow Howard to pass him), the other (Howard) for "assault". I thought this punishment was as fair as it gets, because common sense tells me that these commenters are HYPOCRITES. If anyone of these MEN, were grabbed by the arm, by another guy, a fight would had broken out. So to the MALE COMMENTERS here, don't lie to me; if I, a Black man, had grabbed you like that, with you having a GUN, you would had SHOT AND KILLED ME. Now, we all know I'm not lying, because we have TWO FAMOUS VIDEOS of that scenario... Food for thought. P.S. Unless I put my hands on you, don't you dare put your hands on me.
So Seth Greenberg yiu would just let someone grab you up and not do nothin to defend yourself as a man your not going for tht and Seth your sound just like the rest of you counter partners but Greg got the complexion for the protection

If I was a upcoming college basketball player I’d wanna play for Juwan Howard all day, every day.
Agreed. This ain't about who he is as a coach its about can he keep his cool. Dude been around highly competitive basketball all his adult life the pressure getting to him now is a sign he needs to find better outlets for it or he gonna be out of a job maybe banned from NCAA coaching.
Wisconsin coach got a slap on the wrist. Not surprising.
No Seth Juwan didnt come back.. He was stopped by your brother from Wisconsin
Like Rick James (Dave Chappelle) said, "what did the five fingers say to the face?....SMACK!
Did the staff that scuffled with players get nothing? You can see the player get rushed into the seats. There’s plenty of video to identify everyone’s part. And Garr standing on the court trying to be a tough guy afterwards, staring down Juwan? Responsibility on both sides.
The penalty was too harsh juwan Howard got screwed the coach of Wisconsin got off

Fact: If it was a white coach that had done this they would be ruined! A white announcer lost his career for saying, "all lives matter." Even though most human beings would agree with this statement. This guy went full hood and he is getting a slap on the wrist. I noticed a black girl went full hood yesterday and body slammed another ball player. I assume she will get a small suspension as well. Why is that? It is simply because we expect this and have grown accustomed to this lack of self control.

In addition, the assistant should be able to set a date where he can punch him back. Fair is fair.
He didn't punch him, fool. He barely slapped him.
Yea set the date up so juwan can knock him out on his off day! That coach shouldn’t put his hands aggressively on a Michigan player!
Wisconsin Head Coach Should've Got At Least A Game. He escalated the situation getting in Juwans path and grabbing him. Juwan deserves the suspension but Gard does as well he's just as guilty. White Privilege he just got a slap on the wrist

Bro this is my exact feelings. It’s there. The undertones are as heavy as stones on this topic. I hate it here sometimes man.
He grabbed Juwan just to tell why he called the timeout. They went back and forth and then were separated. It should have ended there. Juwan then slapped someone in the face. This has nothing to do with race. Juwan was childish. If the races were reversed, they'd get the same punishments
@@trevorhandberry2158 it’s so deliberate, and obvious.

So phucking what we are not talking other coaches why all the black commentators defending Howard for maybe the race card
LMAO, like he doesn't have deep ties with NBA teams, owners, and GMs. Just say you don't know what you are talking about and go about your day.
In what world would they fire a white coach for slapping a black coach 😂😂😂😂😂

Had Juwan tried jeering at someone else he would have been punched in the mouth.

I really like juwan Howard as a person but he only not hurt himself but other black men desiring to be in his position and higher into the professional League yes we have seen it happen with white coaches but they are not subject to unequal hiring practices not just in basketball but football as well weird black men have to understand we're not looked at as an individual but as a whole right owners desired professionalism and if they can point a finger at this type of situation it only make the latter harder to climb 😓
I'm sick of people making the argument that Wisconsin's coach should be suspended as well because he grabbed Howard, man he gently touched his arm for a legit 1 second in a non aggressive matter, clearly he was just trying to talk to him, everyone's had that done to them before sometimes it's done by women and children and people don't turn around and then grab them and aggressively say don't you put your effin hands on me because it's not appropriate in that situation
Howard overreacted because he was hot about his team getting blown out & the time out being called, he was the one that had beef not Wisconsin's head coach and then shortly after that Howard actually hit somebody who never touched him first after just telling Wisconsin's coach don't you put your hands on me, Howard demonstrated a street mentality and committed a comedy of errors in lack of leadership ability
I think you nailed this and is speaking on how it really went Down. To say Gard was acting aggressively first is a reach IMO. Howard just went straight agro no doubt
So it's ok to put your hands on someone without regard? You're acting like Gard played no role in this situation he's just as wrong. If he doesn't grab Juwan and let him walk past nothing happens 🤷♂️
@@pyro200777 , Did you not see that Howard put his hands on Wisconsin's assistant head coach with no regard, he's didn't even practice what he just preached, He got suspended for throwing that punch and escalating the situation, not for the heated exchange he had with Wisconsin's head coach 🙄
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it, you can't control what people do, but you can control how you react to it, Howard clearly overracted and didn't demonstrate quality leadership skills
The situation was already heated before Garb grabbed Juwan. No need to touch or talk to him. I’m not sure what happened with the AC. Looks like he was getting rough with a Michigan player and Juwan retaliated
JWill has had two paid jobs in his life. Maybe its 3rd time lucky ay..
Fire him and hire Jussie Smollett!

Now, we all know I'm not lying, because we have TWO FAMOUS VIDEOS of that scenario... Food for thought.
P.S. Unless I put my hands on you, don't you dare put your hands on me.
We gotta be careful here, i think the Queen of Elizabeth is about to dead, lets pray for her!
