My special needs son does too! He first heard it in the 1994 animated Disney blockbuster The Lion King 🦁🤴where Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog 🐗 were walking 🚶‍♂️through the jungle singing this and then Pumbaa got distracted by a bug 🪲 and Timon hit a very high note 🎵! He likes the animated version of The Lion King more and says it is very powerful and in certain ways at intervals divine 👼😇✝️🔥🕊. He also says if he were a character in it he would be an African Fish 🐟 Eagle 🦅!

@@aquaartdesigns1111 My interpretation is that the "darling" person in this song, as heard in the verse "Hush, my darling, dont fear my darling - the lion sleeps tonight" that people fear the lion, but the lion is asleep, so noone is in danger. The lion is probably sleeping because of the tiring activity of hunting as cats arent built for stamina, more like bursts of speed. The purpose, as i see it, is to calm someone in a way to say "you are safe" because there is no danger, similar to the lion being inactive / sleeping. If you had to pick from P.I.E (Persuade, Inform, and Entertain) it would be entertain, as it's a song made for a movie. Atleast this version of the song was made for The Lion King (the original movie).
