I think you could oil your scalp after its dry or put some oil into your hair spray sprits. Puting oil in the vinigar might lock in the unpleasant vinigar smell.
I have just got my box braids 2 days ago for the first time and the first day with them i didn't really have an issue but, the day after that is started to irritate my scalp and today its really saw with spots and red marks so I think I'm allergic to the box braids so i bought some vinegar and water today and when i put it on the box braids it burns my scalp and i have it wrapped up in a t-shirt so i HOPE IT WORKs (I think the burning is of the vinegar and my spots)
I always take my hair out of the package and wash it with vinegar and water and shampoo and let it dry over night then l take it to the shop and let my hairstylist baird my hair and l never have any problems with irritation

Am planning to put on box braids after this style and try washing them before being plaited.😍😍
I used Cantu acv it didn't work. I had to go wash my hair and braids with shampoo. I did this for ten minutes. After that the itching is back on a normal level. I'd rather prep my hair with vinegar before hand.
I might be late to comment but I know that there's other people who suffer from itching after getting braids So basically I used the viniger solution and let me tell you it seriously helped(cos I was even thinking of taking the braids out and it has been only three days) Next time before I get braids I will definitely put the hair extensions in the viniger solution before my braids Hope this helps someone And thanks Angie
Hi, what if it irritates your arms and back instead of your scalp? I had the scalp issue with crochet braided hair but getting box braids it hasn't really irritated my scalp, it's my arms and back.
Same! It immediately irritated my back and arms and I actually soaked the braids in the apple cider vinegar and hot water not boiling and then I gently shampooed the braids. It did help but everything is irritated my scalp is itchy and I couldn’t tolerate it on my back. I realized I didn’t get the top of the braids so that’s why it was still itching. It does help just take your time to make sure all of it is washed off.

I’ve had braids before and nothing happened but about my fourth and fifth time it just itches and burn like crazy and keeps me up and night I tried switching the hair used but had the same problem professionally or done at home but I want to get it for my 7th grade year I want bohemian braids so I’ll tell this to my mom thanks 😘
