I said something several times and cried out a few times, but the teal pain hit when she was finished and I couldn't blink, turn my head to either side or up and down. Sleeping without pain meds was not an option. Day 2 was even worse which it why I am here now. I put neosporin around my edges. Smh...

Glad I watched your entire video and tried ALL of your tips. Had my braids done on Saturday, told the braider to lighten up on the tightness as she was doing it. Sunday nite I did the conditioner/oil/ water treatment which definitely helped. By Monday, nite, still having issues and I took all them suckers OUT. No regrets with how much better, my scalp feels. So, even your last tip was GREAT 👍🏾

I got my foxu locs last night and the warm water with conditioner and oil really helped . Make sure you spray a good amount and rub it

Ladies, I can't do it anymore! I don't think I can do a full head of box braids again. Every time I put them in, I regret it. I tried one more time recently, and they were really cute... but took them out in 2 weeks. I am a back/side sleeper and had pain in my back, neck, and shoulders. As soon as I took them out, all the pain went away and I was sleeping like like a baby! I have to retire from box braids. I'm also finding, although crochet hair is comfortable, I cannot have a lot of hair in my head. I don't care if it's not super full anymore, my neck and shoulders cannot take lot of hair! I give it up to the ladies that can do it but if you all are suffering, just remember that pain can build over time and cause issues later in life. I know we want to look cute but our back, neck, and shoulders are way more important.

I’ve had my box braids in for 2 weeks and when I try to move them in circles they are tight, I love wearing ponytails with box braids and I can’t achieve a ponytail without my braids becoming tight and when I first got them done they weren’t tight at all so Im not understanding where the tension is coming from🤦🏾♀️😭

I finger comb to detangle, and got box braids for the first time today. They did me so dirty. Didn’t leave my baby hair out after I asked multiple times, told them it was too tight. I should have left. The owner said I should take some painkillers and that my hair will hurt for 3-7 days. Lord pray for me.
I got my locs done on Wednesday, at first i couldnt sleep, i woke up 3 am and couldnt sleep back, was in so much pain. After 3 days it started itching sooo bad. I am never gonna braid again only till i learn to do it myself.
Princess Yunusa I cut mine out after day 4. The itch was horrific and after taking them out and washing my hair the itch and burn is still there. Even after moisturizing. ACV and everything. Has anything helped you?
Thassanono Johnson i cut mine short yesterday, its dreads so it didn’t loosen. It wasn’t just itching, it was also causing neck pain cuz of how heavy it was. I realized the itching is going to stop on its own. Because i have tried every single thing😔 That is why i didnt think of taking them out. In a week or so, I just gotta endure. BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I LET THIS HAPPEN.
Princess Yunusa I cut mine out but just tried hot good cooking grade olive oil since I was still having severe scalp tingling, burning, and ITCHING. Try that for the itch when the ACV rinses stop working or leave you irradiated!! Safe travels w your locs!

I got my hair done today it was not tight when the lady was first doing it but now it's tight so I'm going to try your method with the hot water the conditioner and the olive oil and I'm going to hope and pray that it work

I kept telling the lady to do it less tight because I was crying and she kept telling me it was because of the parts and because I’m tender headed. Wtf. I was so mad. She kept saying she’d do it less tight and she DID but then she went right back to usual wtf I even ask her not to do a middle part and she DID A MIDDLE PART I’m really about to go back today to tell her to take it all out. I can’t stand this. I haven’t had braids this tight in years.
Girl please save you hair. Just take them out cause you’ll even be more upset if your hair gets damaged because of it
Could it be possible that you have a really sensitive scalp? I have 3 people who ever do my hair and yes, they don’t make it too tight but the first and second nights, I do feel the tension.... I just take some Advil once or twice a day

I got my hair done 5 days ago and yes it seemed tight but it really wasn't that bad, I put coconut oil on my whole head and the edges, then I put it in a bun. The 3rd day I did the same thing, I HV no problems!!

Hey. Yes you can. It has anti microbial properties like tea tree and will help with bacteria but it won’t help relieve the discomfort as well as peppermint hope that helps 💗

In this case you will just have to weigh the cost of your braids vs the health of your hair. personally no matter the cost, if the pain is severe or it looks like there is potential for damage, i would take them out 💖

I agree!I specifically told the stylist not to tight and she still did it super tight and I said listen them and she claimed she did and they were still to tight and broke me out. I also notice she put half of my hair up in a rubber band in the head instead of platting it and then rolling it and then rubbed banding it at the tip.
Thank God, the Ladies that did my hair were so gentle and they didn't braid tight.

Thank you for the tips. I got my hair braided today. I didnt really feel the tightness untill I was in bed trying to go to lay down. It felt like a tree on my head. I couldn't put my hair up in a bund nor even put the braids in a pony tell. The stiffness of the braids is what bothers me😢😢 the most! Sooo uncomfortable. 😮

I'm about to get box braids will this work with jumbo size or do I have to use more of the stuff. And what other oils can you use?
Hello yes it will work but it always works best of the braids are not too tight in the first place. You can use whatever carrier oil you have and mix in either peppermint or tea tree if you don’t have both. If you don’t have either you can still add that but it won’t as effective.

The first tip is possible but not all the time. I don't braid box braids at all. The last time I did this was 6 years ago and I remember this experience like it was yesterday. I didn't feel anything until I was done with my hair and it was so bad that I waited for 3 days then I unbraided

Being able to move your head does not mean that the braids are not tight, and no we can't see that your braids are not too tight by looking at your hair.
