When I was a kid I adored porridge with sprinkles on top, they melt and turn the porridge into a rainbow. I still do this sometimes as an adult, it brings me such joy!
I've been having raisins cooked in, so they're soft, and then putting oat milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin seeds on top. Sometimes I'll add sliced banana too.
@@RhiannonAshleeVlogs Dried cranberries, or really any dried fruit, can also be delicious. My toddler likes raisins best, though, and I don't like making separate pots of oats. lol
Porridge inspiration: I love to cook my porridge with oat milk and then top it with some banana that I fry in a pan with coconut oil and a little drizzle of maple syrup 🤤
I very recommend to try tomato porridge! First you fry garlic, then add tomatoes. Add oats and water, also salt it and use some spices (curcuma and red pepper). You simmer it as regular porridge and at the end add cheese that you like. Also, if you want it a little bit fancy, you can add a poached egg on top:)
I like peanut butter and banana or dates and nuts. Also overnight oats with carrot and syrup so the carrots are soft by the morning warmed with nuts on top. So many amazing options 😋
Just a gentle note, lots of artists and people (like myself) who work in the music industry are out of work right now and Spotify doesn’t treat artists and their music fairly. Bandcamp is much better + if you buy the music on a “Bandcamp Friday” a higher percentage funds actually go to the creators!
In Russia we call it овсянка :) Hello from Moscow, absolutely adore your videos, Delilah is the sweetest child! Your vlogs are the most relaxing videos on UA-cam, every time I feel anxious I watch them♥️
my go to porridge topping is honey, peanut butter, apple (or any other fruit I fancy) and cinnamon. sometimes I sprinkle some chia seeds or dessicated coconut on too!
An alternative to porridge I love to make is farina ( + milk/water, butter, and pinch of salt salt) with jam topped off with berries! Used to eat it as a kid a lot! My boyfriend finds it nostalgic too- he ate the chocolate farina. ❤️
Late to the porridge party but I’m obsessed and have it almost every morning lol Sliced banana, chia seeds, chopped nuts and dedicated coconut if I have it! Try cooking cashew nuts into it whilst it’s on the hob too, so good! x
oatmeal is the best! when i'm boiling my milk, i add cinnamon (so yum) and i like my oats more runny too so only mix it for a little bit and then add frozen berries, a banana, extra cinnamon, pumpkin seeds, raw buckwheat, cocoa nibs, and honey! so delish xx
A love day together with you and your little sweetie. We in the US call it oatmeal...make mine with water...top with brown sugar, strawberries and blue berries. Sometimes maple syrup or honey. And bananas....oh and raisins. Going to try pumpkin oatmeal soon. Your meals looked super yummy. And mommy's little helper just adorable. Love to you all.
I cook my oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins, then add a sliced banana and some applesauce at the end! Sometimes I'll add chopped pecans or walnuts too. The applesauce adds some sweetness and helps to cool the oatmeal down a bit before eating!
my favourite way to eat porridge (oatmeal) here in Canada, is to use any non-dairy milk, a sprinkle of turmeric, a mashed banana, cinnamon, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, sprinkle of ground black pepper and then yogurt and peanut butter on top!
I never usually comment, but just wanted to say how much I've been loving your homely vlogs! I look forward to watching after a busy day at uni, such a nice way to unwind. X
Another great vlog! Your vlogs always manage to make me smile :) with porridge, I tend to mostly have blueberries too but I put them in when is being cooked so that they soften and you can mix it all up - makes the porridge purple!
Totally agree with having music on in the background while doing tasks! My flatmate can go the whole day in complete silence and I can't understand it at all 😄 loving all the vlogs Rhiannon 💕
Rhiannon you have such a pleasant personality. I look forward to your vlogs. I always tune in with a cup of tea and it feels like I’m catching up with an old friend ❤️
Your vlogs are getting us through October! 😊 I love porridge for breakfast now it’s getting colder. My grandparents are both Scottish and told me if you eat porridge with milk it’s the Scottish way, without milk on the top is the English way. Love seeing some meal inspiration as I’m vegetarian too 😊
Australia calls it porridge too! ☺️ when i was little Dad made the best porridge, so i asked him what his secret recipe was, and he taught me to always put a bit of salt in it! 🤩 it balances out with the sweetener and makes the most amazing flavour, i dont really eat porridge without it hehe
This time of year I enjoy pumpkin purée in my oatmeal/porridge. I also like to add some cinnamon or a pumpkin spice blend and some pecans. Very much enjoy it. One of my old coworkers decided to try it and she added marshmallows. I would prefer maple syrup if I want a bit of sweetness
I stir a spoonful of almond butter in towards the end of cooking the porridge, then at very end stir in salt and honey. Top with berries or cooked apple with cinnamon 🥰
Currently eating a bowl of porridge now! I cook it with half hot water, half plant milk, chia seeds, cinnamon and chopped banana. Then top with dessicated coconut and date syrup 😍
You are the chillest mummy ever! I mean I am never this chill with my 3 haha. I suppose the more relaxed mummy is makes the kid relaxed too and it’s evident in Delilah ❤️
I make what we call "pb&j" oats. I stir in frozen blueberries while its cooking and in the bowl top with maple syrup (sometimes), a dollop of jam and a dollop of peanut butter, and milk of choice
I’ve also spent years trying to convince myself I like porridge and I finally love it. So I really felt that when you said it haha! My go to is traditional chunky oats with oat milk, strawberries or raspberries, chia seeds and honey. The best! Xx
Omg! I love oatmeal, it’s my go-to breakfast. The way I usually do it is kind of in the middle- not too runny, not too dry(?). I then put whatever fruit I have in the fridge I really love raspberries, blueberries and blackberries combo. Or banana and apple, or either one with a berry. I always put some cinnamon on top and add some nuts like pecans, walnuts and almonds! Also, sometimes instead of almonds, I’d scoop a spoon of almond butter 🤍 so delicious
It's funny i was never a big fan of corriander, but up until maybe a year ago ive just added it to every thing, soups, warm cozy dishes, i just love it now
I have my porridge the Scottish way which I feel like you wouldn’t like as it’s just with milk & salt ! But sometimes if I fancy it hot just now I’ve been having some stewed apple & brambles (blackberries) with it and cinnamon & a drizzle of almond or peanut butter 😊 x
I used to eat porridge with a chopped banana but it is quite easy to get bored with the taste. Try prunes, you can cut a couple of them in small pieces and it will make the whole bowl taste sweet!
I have been loving Porridge recently! I make it with water, I can't eat high calcium foods early in the day and put a spoonful of sugar, sultanas and sprinkle cinnamon on it! It tastes and smells divine! 😁😋
Hardly ever eat porridge nowadays, but I always use the prepackaged Quaker Oats Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal! & you're not alone on adding extra milk! I get impatient waiting for my oats to cool down
I like my oatmeal with frozen berries warmed with maple syrup and a square of Lindt dark chocolate. The chocolate melts on top of those hot oats and it makes it so decadent yet still a healthy breakfast 😊
I miss Oatly milk so much, that's what I used to have with my cereal, but foreign imports from Europe were paused even before our borders closed so I don't know when I'll be able to have it again. I've tried so many times to eat porridge but no matter what I add to it I never finish a bowl. Maybe it's a texture thing because I can eat uncooked oats in milk (like you'd do with cereal) and that's good. I like how you play music, probably because it's similar to the things I like. I know quite a few people with children that only play children's music which personally I find can get repetitive and annoying so I think it's cool that you continue to play the music you like even with Delilah around. I don't have music playing all the time but it's so helpful when doing tasks that you have to push yourself to do, like washing up, cooking, cleaning. I also like to play instrumental music whilst I work so it's not too distracting.
Every time one of your videos pops up--every other day--I'm like, I am not worthy, lol! I am so thrilled watching your October vlogs. They are so soothing, so lovely. I've been wondering...who is the "you" of UA-cam for you right now? Who do you turn to to unwind with?
I have never liked oatmeal and usually I'm not a picky eater but damn it, oatmeal is so practical cost-wise! Brown sugar, maple and cinnamon was something I saw on a prepackaged mix that was super easy to do at home (plus some banana) but after a while all that sugar plus sugar in my tea made me feel like I should rethink. Also visited my grandma who eats hers VERY soupy lol but it converted me! Sometimes grandma knows whats up. Recently started adding applesauce, some sliced almonds, dried cherries and a banana. Maybe it's the same amount of sugars but at least it's a little more exciting!?
I like overnight oats then add coconut sugar, raisins and a lil choco syrup. Or sometimes i cook it with chocolate non-dairy milk and a lil water then add cinnamon powder and agave syrup. 👌🏻😋
I prefer overnight oats :) They're so quick and easy for breakfast or lunch. I have equal parts oats and oat milk, 1 tbs of peanut butter, 1 teaspoon of chia seeds, cinnamon and a little honey and some frozen berries. Mix it all together and leave it overnight :)
my fave oatmeal: oats, oat/soy milk, bananas, walnuts, hemp/flax/chia seeds, cinnamon + hint of nutmeg all simmer til it's soft, and then peanut butter and more cinnamon on top :) so yummy
Another great vlog, Rhiannon! At some point this Vlogtober, it would be great to get a cookbook tour/review - I'm always writing down the ones you show in the vlogs but it'd be great to see all the ones you have and know your faves :)
What a weird age we live in! No one talks about actual bands and artists, just playlists! Mad. I definitely heard some James Blake there and Big Thief in some other vids.
Re: Onion chopping. Place the onion so the top is facing your north, roots at your south. Then slice on a angle from northwest to south east. Place each half down , peel each side without lifting, just slice into the skin a bit to lift it on an edge. Wet knife and start cutting but not all the way to the root or "top" of the onion piece and then slice the opposite way to get it diced. Hoping that makes sense, but honestly.. it avoids the tears and it gives you a little piece to hold on to for each half!

The amount of joy I got from reading everyone’s oatmeal recipes! I feel so safe here 🥰
(I do a simple cinnamon, honey, pineapple and banana)
I like overnight oats with cinnamon, honey, apple and raisins. Warmed up in the morning it’s so nice during autumn/winter!
I've been having raisins cooked in, so they're soft, and then putting oat milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin seeds on top. Sometimes I'll add sliced banana too.

I make a quick apple compote with cinnamon and brown sugar for the top of my oatmeal. It's like having a heathy crumble or apple pie. :)

The little squeal you did when you decided to use the inside pocket for the mask 🤣 I love you Rhiannon 💗
Ah your vlogs make me so happy...just so, so happy! :)
I love having blueberries and brown sugar on my oatmeal!
I make, what I like to call, rather graciously ahahah, 'super porridge', which is - banana, mixed seeds, flaked almonds, honey, and cinnamon.
I like my porridge with cinnamon, apple and topped with peanut butter and pumpkin seeds :)
frozen bananas, virgin coconut oil, and cinnamon goes in my oatmeal! or a nut butter, raisins, and chocolate chips :)
