It needs to be disassembled to properly clean the brush and end bearings. Miele does not recommend disassembling the powerhead yourself, but instead have your butler take it to a Miele service center for weekly cleanings. If you don't have a butler, you probably can't afford this vacuum.

0:55 That "bleed off" knob allows you to decrease powerhead suction while MINIMALLY affecting the turbine speed (brush). It's helpful for low pile carpets that the powerhead wants to suck onto and not allow you to push the powerhead. The suction bleed off that affects both suction AND the turbine speed is that slide panel on the handle of the vacuum itself. I've always wondered about how the dial on the powerhead actually worked. Took it apart and figured it out.

I don't recommend a Miele for for anyone in a home with long haired females. It's impossible to clean the roller brush end bearings of wrapped around long hairs without disassembling the power head. Many other brands allow for the entire roller brush to easily slide out so long hairs that wrap around the roller and clog the bearings at the ends of the roller can be removed. If you're not mechanically inclined and would not enjoy disassembling your vacuum power head assembly after each use, then shop elsewhere.

I'm excited to try this nozzle, even though I'm not a big fan of air-driven carpet nozzles. Mieles are among the few vacuums that can actually power a turbine nozzle, so this might be really good.

Seems clear that Miele purposely made this tool much harder to service than its predecessor. I can't see any functional reason, such as better performance, why the company would do this. It seems much the same inside as the previous design---once you get it apart, if you ever do. I had to yank the wheels out with a tightened vice grip onto the hub of each wheel, because I was afraid the housing would crack or break if I used a screwdriver. Thanks to Burton Security for revealing where the screws had been hidden. Only a total bone-head, or someone who thought they'd save the company a few cents per unit (which I doubt), would put the screws there, then make the wheels hard to remove. Sheesh! The earlier design appears to have been made so that service was pretty easy.
I ran the thing at full whack on a tough job. My mistake, I guess. The brush now vibrates during rotation, no longer smooth. It's probably un-fixable.

I have hair round the rollers and can't work out how to easily remove it

  • @burtonhomesecurity
    @burtonhomesecurity 2 роки тому +4

    FIXED..
There are 4 screws under the wheels. The wheels can be levered up with a screwdriver, either under the wheel itself or the metal axle.
Once screws are out, and you start to prise it open (from the hose end) you must look past the rollers to the clear plastic part inside, in front of the roller. You will see three “tabs” of clear plastic evenly spaced.
I poked screwdriver with a blade the same size as these tabs hard against these tabs while at the same time prising the two parts apart. It’s not easy. It’s quite a poor design and you really need to get this open if you have animals because I removed about half a dog’s worth of fur!!!
Top tip: Once fur removed, I cleaned the plastic thoroughly and once dry, sprayed it with Silicone spray (from hardware store) to give it a smooth finish inside.
    Did not video this, sorry.

Thank you, this is what I was looking for. Really bad design, and I did some slight damage prying the small wheels off. You definitely don't want to do this on a regular basis.

The solution I came up with for getting the front parts separated: Slip a couple butterknifes vertically in the seam between the black plastic and the clear plastic. Pry open. Later cut the top edge of the holes in the black plastic. That eliminates the mating of the tab in the clear plastic with the black frame. The screws will hold it all together.

It might be an issue with your suction and not the head, the head relies on the suction to move it so if there is poor airflow through the rest of the machine the brush roller on your turbo head will not spin.

Yah! I made it that far, too. The difficult, apparently impossible final step, removing the leading edge from the clear plastic "window" seems impossible without damaging the plastic housing. If somehow has an actual solution, let's see it please!

Why can't some one explain how i remove the wheels to get at the screws that holds this thing together? Not a customer friendly unit to maintain. I had the old version and that came apart easily. Getting to the roller to clean it isn't easy. It might be but I haven't found any explanation on hold to do it yet. I have found many persons asking the same question.

Follow the above instructions for removing the two screws (star drive, I don't know the size but had to try a few smaller bits) that you can see and then begin prying up the four wheels and axles which are the shiny things that the wheels ride on : ), you need to get a screwdriver under the wheels and they will pop out. Then four other star drive screws are then visible, unscrew these then stick a small screwdriver blade (one designed for slotted screws) where you see the separation between the top and bottom of the cases. Work slowly lifting a little at a time, the front clear piece is the hardest to pry up....remember this is German engineering, things fit very well together!! Once the head is apart you have access to the roller. I used a small pair of scissors to cut across the roller assembly the long way, go under the hair with one blade of the scissors and cut off a clump at a time then pull it out. The hardest part to clean is the middle of the roller, hair gets wound around this part pretty tight and you might need something like needle nose plyers to pull it all out. After the hair is removed, spray some kitchen cleaner on the stuck on dirt and wipe clean the best you can, I had to use a small brass brush because the dirt was stuck on tight. I also sprayed some silicone lube around the middle section of the roller to keep it moving smooth. Assembly is the reverse of the above, the wheels and axles go in hard but they will make a pop sound when they are seated with a screwdriver blade. The whole roller cleaning thing seems harder than it should be, I've had vaccums that had only two screws to get access to the roller head but really love my Miele otherwise.
