I've given up. I found and removed all the screws no problem, but that clear plastic window on the front is ridiculous. The fear of breaking it was just too intimidating, so I've poked out as much dog hair as I could reach and put the screws back in. It's a bloody good vacuum, and I just couldn't risk breaking it. My old Dyson was a piece of cake by comparison. One coin and all the fastenings came open and you could clean the inside easily. If anyone else manages to separate it and cares to upload a video I'd be very glad to watch it.

I got to that stage and thought f@#t it, it doesn't work so I can't make it any worse. It separated with a bit of pressure and didn't break.

Same thoughts on the Dyson. When you have dogs the hair needs removing every time you vacuum. Pulling hair from the STB305 makes my fingers hurt. Dyson DC41 etc much better design for this. Guessing they registered the coin turn design.

You have pull quite hard to get the front off - a bit of pulling and a bit of wiggling. Since the head was basically useless anyway, I wasn't too concerned about breaking it, but it was fine. Took the whole thing apart, removed the hair clogging up the ends of the roller and the bot where the belt sits, and it was good as new.

I am a certified auto technician I have never seen a turbo brush do cleaning on that magnitude at home, but it's simple to see how to disassemble the turbo head.
For most people they want a step by step video on how to do it, it's recommended that at least you can display what tools are needed, such as torx size screws and so on, flat heads for prying etc. Thanks for uploading and sharing this how we mechanics give and share for each other or we figure it out ourselves.
    **Update Mar 5 2021**
    Tools needed for the ”service”
Torx T-10 size bits/driver and two flatblade screedrivers.
When you disassemble the wheels hold your hand over the wheels and pry them out under the wheel well were the wheels rolls smoothly and be careful about the roller pins not droping them.
Screw then off the T-torx 10 screws with a electric screwdriver or any tool you’d prefer for the service.
This is a very easy task to do.
Next pry the lower mount assembly carefully so that you don’t break the plastic off and all around the turboteq nozzle, pry inside the nozzle including the tabs that hold it together do that simultaneously.
Now your probably have gone by the previous task and your up for the cleaning, good luck.

Thank you! This helped me so much! I had to take it apart to clean out pet hair that was stopping the brush. For others, I had one part pop out when I pried it apart. It goes back in by the turbine with the curved part toward the turbine. There are groves on the ends that slide down.

  • @houptee

You don't need to remove the clear window if you are opening the unit. First use a zip tie and snake it under the wheels. Pinch it with vise grips and hold tightly with one hand and pull off the wheels. Don't lose the metal shaft axle it might fly out when the wheel pops off. Then use two flat screwdrivers starting in the rear section away from the clear window. It will open like a hinge pivoting at the front clear window. Then when it's almost open slide the small flat blade screwdriver along the outer black plastic pushing it in between the clear and the black and sliding both towards the center and it will pop in half leaving the clear plastic still attached to the top half.

Thanks for making this video! Removing the wheels was a little tricky, needing a torx 10 screwdriver is not nice (but not too bad). Those tabs on the clear plastic are the pits, though! I managed to use a small flat-head screwdriver to lever the black rubber/plastic up and over each tab as I applied force, and managed to get the head separated with only a little bit of mangling. Next time, I think I'll just cut off the rubber that holds the tabs in place, I think the 6 screws would probably do OK for holding the head together.
I've had vacuums from a bunch of different brands, and it's like no company ever considers cleaning powerheads like this. They're all terrible for maintenance across the board.

This is one of the shittiest product I ever had to deal with. Barely 2 weeks after buying it my son tried to vaccum a pile of hair. Removing the brush should normally be a simple task for any decently designed vaccum cleaner. But no!. You here have 6 hard to reach screws with a weird 6-point star type of screw head. I did finally manage to remove them. However there was no way of getting to the last step. The plastic cover with the clips could not be opened with breaking the whole thing. The bottom line is that is clear that the turbo head is not designed for servicing.

Thanks for the tip about the wheels! They are sneaky. What a terrible design though. Our vacuum is a year old, the head had stopped working as it was jammed up with hair. A tip for those people who don’t want to break the plastic “bearing” or damage the wheels when trying to take them off
Get a big metal paper clip, make it straight, then put a slight bend at one end. Slowly feed the bent end into the back of the wheel through the wheel well.
As you are pushing, keep bending the paperclip slightly to follow the contour of the wheels.
You should see the paperclip pop out behind the other side of the wheel. Keep feeding it until you got enough slack.
Make sure the paperclip is behind the wheel and not lodged between the wheel and the sides of the wheel well! If it is, then wiggle it back into position behind the wheel.
Bend both ends of the paperclip until they cross each other above the wheel. Hold the turbohead down with one hand. Then pinch the cross section tightly with pliers. Pull up with your pliers while holding the turbohead down. The wheel should pop off with a bit of force.
Long instructions but it was the easiest way I found to do this without damaging the wheels. You can also do it with strong string

The roller in my one no longer rotates easily. I’ve taken it apart, cleaned it but when I assemble it, it still won’t spin. Next time a buy a Hoover I’ll check how easy it it to clean first so I don’t fall into this trap again.

    • @dianaokane6990
      @dianaokane6990 2 роки тому

If you take the roller out and look in the ends there is probably debris inside the ends and wrapped around the pins it sits on. Use a screwdriver to dig down into the roller ends to get it out. Also under the bit that the belt goes around gets clogged - this is what stops the roller spinning.
