This is so true - I've seen these lists of the 100 Greatest Guitarists or The Greatest Rock Guitarists or the Greatest Guitar Solos etc in publications like Rolling Stone, Guitar Player Magazine, and other music related rags and they never mention Robby or any of his solos. I think his solo on Light My Fire is one of the GREATEST guitar solos of all time - right up there with rock legends like Clapton, Page, Beck, Blackmore, Frampton, Trower, Albert Lee, Richards, Townsend, Bloomfield, Santana. Robby has been the best kept secret in rock simply because he's a laid back player. And the Doors was not about the guitar (or the keyboard or drums for that matter - nor was the band just about Jim....)
It’s kind of misty in my eyes when the question about what Robby would say to Jim if he had the chance.... “Come back...” That one really got to my heart. I think it got to Robby’s heart too! I’m not crying...you’re crying.... Thanks Robby for your openness and kind candid demeanour. ❤️ Your friend, Zest
How great is Robbie Krieger... The most original band with the most original guitar player, singer, keyboardist & drummer! No other band comes close for originality!
There will never be a band like the doors just one of a kind and absolutely untouchable been a fan for years and their music still blows my mind today and probably will until the day I die.
Robbie it's so true. When someone actually.dies. that you.... relied on; had some ❤️ for...there's no pain as sorrowful as not knowing when you will meet again ; 😐...i love all the doors ! Have a good day Robbie !
Oh what I would do to be transported back in time to see one of those early sets at the Whisky. I hope to see them all play again in another life. Love to Robbie. I'm so glad managed to seem him and Ray in London around 10 years ago with Doors of the 21st Century. That was a cool show and the closest I got in this lifetime ❤
The Doors were my 1st rock band from the moment I heard John Densmore's snare snap on Light My Fire (I heard Break On Through later) the whole band was mesmerizing, Ray's keys, Jim's vocal, John's drum fills and Robby Krieger's guitar solo just captivated me! In the months to come everyone was raving about Clapton with Cream and Jimi Hendrix - and I was raving myself, but I never stopped loving Robby's guitar bits. He wasn't an over the top player so he didn't get as much press as EC & Jimi and others like Beck and Blackmore but his licks were solid and his playing was always inspiring. I could imitate those guys on my guitar pretty well but Robby's approach was a bit elusive and more ethereal. He's always been a stand out to me as a guitarist and one I have always mentioned as an under-appreciated player. For most peeps the Doors was about Jim - I never got that. To me it was FOUR guys who all did what they did very well and were each special in their own way which made the band larger than the sum of it's parts. Robby's a legend and he deserves so much more accolades and respect as a guitarist. His slide work is unique and like George Harrison he plays his own slide style from the heart rather than playing regurgitated riffs from Duane Allman's bag like everyone who came after Duane has seemed to do. Robby's techniques are a mixed bag of influences layered into the Doors sound. There is only one Robby Krieger!
Robby, you have a genius for understatement, but you are one of my very favorite musicians. Pink Floyd and The Doors divide the world between them, there is no third. You may have heard Roger Waters of PF say that PF was influenced by The Doors in their early years. Had Jim survived and surmounted his substance abuse problems, I believe that with his lyrics and The Doors' great musicianship, you guys would have exceeded PF. Either way, PF and The Doors are my two favorite rock bands of all time. Thank you for all the great music, Robby! 👍💖🎸😎
@@navynugget7 It is so sad that Jim died. He would have loved the idea of writing songs for concept albums once he heard PF's stuff. Jim was already adept at writing concept songs.
Thanks Robby we love ya and are hoping you might come by the huntington beach area next time you are touring . I will love to catch your music in a small venue i have seen the doors twice once when my sister and brother brough me to your concert in miami and once when you did a welcome home concert for the vietnam vets which was execellent , you had a singer who looked and sounded so much like jim Morrison that i began to believe jim was still around. It was a most execellent concert a real doors music experience . In 68 i was too young to fully apreaciate the doors plus their was a lot of craiziness going on that day i was 8 years old then but i liked your music . The second time i seen the doors was the real deal the best
Robby and Jim got along so well because they really are so similar. ❤. They both have similar facial expressions. Watch Robby's eye movement at the end. Jim did the same thing. He and Jim liked to copy each other. 😊
I thought he might mention that Jim's favorite band, besides the Doors, was Pink Floyd. I'm sure he knew that, but didn't say it. I'm actually surprised.
Robby. Bonjour de France. J'écoute les Doors depuis 1972. J'avais 14 ans. Je ne me lasse pas de vous.'' Riders on the storm '' est un chef-d'œuvre. Salutations distinguées. 🇫🇷👍🍷
Thanks for your time Robby, I have a copy of your book reserved. I'm very much looking forward to reading it. Only a few more days to wait for it to be delivered.
hey Robby what a treat. saw you all in 67'? at the Carousel. it was a mesmerizing experience. will never forget it. hope I see in heaven, would luv to jam with u
This is just one of the coolest things in the world to be able to see people communicating with Robby in 2021. He's an absolute legend and it's really cool to see how even all these years later he's still willing to communicate with his fans and give some funny and thoughtful answers. He's a part of rock history for sure and its great to hear his take on things
Thank you sincerely. I m in love with your music. I m in my 20's. Your music literally built my life. Thats for sure these wonderful people came to me cause I was all about the Doors creativity. We ll meet again.
Dear Robby , I THINK YOUR PLAYING WAS HUGELY UNDERATED . wHEN i LISTEN TO YOUR ALBUMS THEY STILL GET ME GOING . I HAVE TO SAY YOUR DEBUT IS STILL A MASTERPIECE , AS INDEED WAS L A WOMAN BIG LOVE FROM GLASGOW . P.S MY NAME IS ROBBIE X X X
Thanks Robby, can't wait to read your book and get some more answers to you and The Doors. 🤩What advice would you give musicians in today's time? Put in interview with Bob Dylan, it explains everything 👍🏻
I feel so lucky to be able to watch this while he is still part of this thunderstorm we call life.
Thunderstorm?
✨⚡️✌️🤩✌️⚡️✨
Me too!
most underrated guitarist in history
DUDE. SERIOUSLY!
Not by me
“Underrated”? By whom? He one of the most admired of them all!
@Frank Lopez In Paris there were accepted as well as Hendrix, Stones, Pink Floy and few others.

This needs to be like 2 hours longer 😊 The Q about Jim was beautiful 🥰
I agree.
Yeah, his little sigh at the end...he really misses Jim❤
The greatest band of all time in my book. Certainly the most unique.
Most entertaining
I agree times 333!
Agreed
robby is an absolute legend
2:25 you can feel the love for Jim Morrison
“Jim, come back, we need you”😭 damn it, wish he would of been here longer
The Doors are the really best band Northamerican forever and ever, gretting to Acapulco México
Rock on, brother.
I prefer "my favorit band" than the BEST.
Absofreakinltly!
Can’t replicate that kind of cool.
Robby’s my favorite living member of the Doors because he’s real, humble, and very talented. I’m glad he’s still around.
There’s only one other living member lol
@@Thatguy55595 haha I know. That’s not saying much
I could listen to him for hours.
I love him, his style is so beautiful. Massively underrated, he and John both.
PLEASE LETS HAVE ROBBYS (AND OUR) DREAM COME TRUE WITH A COLLAB WITH BOB DYLAN

My man No one sounds like Robby Read his book it's the bomb
Godspeed Robby
I’m 46 now been listening to you since I was 17.
It’s been a journey
I grew up with him because he's so good at playing the guitar for the doors
And Ray Manzareck on keyboard.
I love Robbie's honesty and lack of pretense, something that is very rare today in the USA. I am a fan since 1967.
JFK likes your comment
He's great! Reading his book now. Very cool. Lot's of great stories.😊

I saw them play live in 1966. I can still remember Robby playing guitar on Light My Fire. 55 years ago…
