Funny... alot of my plants I'm having a tough time with is the same plants you are!! Glad you shared! It helps me know I'm not alone!
13:29 Can you explain why people leave the old leaves on? You said it’s so that the main plant can get energy from it (and I’ve heard others say that too). However, I’ve always had the total opposite experience! I’m ALWAYS plucking dead, yellowing, or ugly leaves😂 I do it mostly for aesthetics but I also find the plant isn’t wasting energy on those old leaves, so it grows better!
if the leaf is actually yellowing & dying off, I remove it. But if it's still green, it's still photosynthesising and producing energy for the plant. But sometimes I cut off ugly ones as well. depends on my mood 🤷♀️
Ahhh okay that makes sense. Thanks!
I've had the same issues with moss too!! I've fully gone back to just water propagating 😅 and love the new merch, so cute!
Can't wait for my vest to arrive, I bought it for the hubby to give me for Christmas 🤣.
My first thought for the Philo pinnatilobum was oedema before you even showed the leaves with it. The older leaves seem to be more affected by it and brown spots and yellowing usually occur overtime. I think it's due to the oedema bursting the cells and them not being able to recover. Unfortunately I've found this plant just seems prone to it, could be due to the thinner leaves 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you Emma 😊 we all face issues with plants especially during this season 😂 we just have to keep trying & see what is left at the beginning of spring 😂❤❤❤❤ thanks for your videos
The moss looks a bit too wet and too packed for winter. With the colder temps I keep it on the much drier side and very loose.
I have recently moved my tote boxes next to a radiator and they've all taken off!
Adding heat should help
I don't can't help you with the moss problem, because I'm so bad in it 😂 I prob mostly in perlite or water and my Alocasia corms in a pon box. I have a hard time to balance watering with moss 😊 I'd also chop the black velvet. I did the same with my micholiziana and it worked so well.
And of course congratulations to 60k!!!
I've had issue with mould on propagation. Maybe the sphagnum moss needs 'cleaning' or some hydrogen peroxide washing?
I'm guessing your black velvet is just working on more roots and could it possibly be going into dormancy? My Amazonica was gorgeous for like 2yrs and I up potted her, she went 1 leaf & has been there since, lol. BUT, her roots are starting to come in nicely and so I think she went dormant.
My black velvet has been doing fine for a long time. I just got a cabinet just for space and light (its not sealed & I don't hv a humidifier or fan, I live in Phx, it's doing fine), popped black velvet in there & it immediately gave me a new, bigger leaf. And then immediately another huge one and I have like 2 corms popping off. It's only been a couple months! So, maybe light/dormancy/rooting is my guess. Can't wait to see what happens with yours!
My black velvet is doing amazing I have it in chunky soil I water it once a week under a grow light getting my second big leaf in a week
Struggling plants here too but for some the heat mat saved them :)
You can chop your bvs corm in half and reroot it in water. Pop the lower half in whatever setup you have for corms.
Currently just struggling w a new Hoya Silver plant I got… which had barely any roots so was shriveling up 🙄 just put it in some water and hopefully it’s not too late.
With the black velvet maybe try air layering the tuber to encourage roots on the top part before chopping it at the base? That way you have two parts to try starting over with.
Not sure about your snow queen props, might be temperature or fluctuations of temperature? Very strange, I've never seen a pothos prop act like that before.
I recommend leca propagation for the snow queen, I find they tend to rot very easily in high humidity
oh interesting! will consider that! thanks!
Love all of this!! Congratulations on the new shop.
You're an amazing painter. Also... Please put the PGFL on more stuff. I'd totally rock that on a shirt 😂
sorry what's PGFL? plant girl for life?? 😅
I think I've finally had it with Alocasia... I gave them heat, light and Pon, they just failed. I'm sick of them, I'll stick to my usuals, sigh ♥
Absolutely love the new merch. That looks like it could also be my calico kitty sitting in the window 🥰
thanks! and yeah it's allllll calico kitties out there 😉
Peperomia Hope i love this one but cannot grow it well have try it 3 times. Leaves keeps dropping or turning black and mussy. I also hate the leggy growth aswell. For me water and pon props works better for me also doesn’t lack on too much the new roots when potting them up. Winter seasons is always a struggle which i don’t look forward too December and January.
They really need a lot indirect light. A least for me the leaves started to get bigger and the internodlespace gets smaller. I let it dry Out pretty much before give new water
I thinks the philodendron you showed first has a fungal issue. It doesn’t appear to be pest damage.
I was thinking this or a substrate issue
Struggling taming mealies at the moment 😳 grr! 😀🇨🇦
oh no!! that's the worst!! pull out your isopropyl!
Good video Emma. The alocasia black velvet pot white with clear inner where did you get that.
Side note….your nails are so pretty 😍
Try propping in flulval stratum
I have such a hard time with philodendron aurea. It is the worst other than the brandtianum. It grows these weird leaves and I finally chopped it and had two stems so I put them in moss. I figured they would die but no they didn't. Can you believe they are growing roots? 🤦♀️ I suppose I will try again 🤷♀️
Congrats on 60k
Aww thank you so much!
I love watching your videos, hello from kansas city 😊
I'm struggling so much with ly black velvet too 😭 makes me sad because it's one of my favori
I also need to figure out my El Choco. It's been "tollerating" life outside of the 100% humidity jar I had it in.
hmm maybe it needs to go back in the jar 🙃
@@GoodGrowing Yeah. But it's too big!
Hello Emma! How are you? Love the merch!
I once bought cheap sphagnum moss that was extremely salty. Electrical conductivity was extremely high. Maybe there is something wrong with your moss.
And I think your Longilobatum suffers from edema I have the same issue with my Atabapoense. Maybe these plants don't like swings in moisture levels of the soil.
You know what, i have thought about that too. Not about the chemical things, but If something changed with a method you never failed, it had to be the Thing you propagation in
@DieDieEla It really pays to buy a device to measure electrical conductivity. The vermicompost, the regular compost and the coco I bought turned out to be extremely salty as well and caused some damage to my plants. The differences in quality between different brands can be huge.
When your pep Hope drops leaves, put them back in the top, they will root up and fill out your plant 🌱
orrrrrr, like mine has, just rot on the top of the soil 😅
Do you ship merch to Canada? 😊
Yes!! 🥰
I've always had good luck with harder to prop plants by rolling the ends of them in rooting hormone powder before plopping them in water or moss. Dampen the end then dip and roll then plop😉 what I use is made by Garden Tech and is called root boost. It hasn't failed me yet. I was at lowes and a tiny piece of raven zz was broke off and laying on the floor. And of course me being a plant mama i was like I wonder if I can get it to grow a tuber or as i call it a potato so home it came and after a few weeks it went into the pot with my other raven❤🌱
That peperomia hope grows like that no matter where you put it.
oh great 🙄
Philodendrons/alocasia are the bane of my existence 🙄🤣 I love them so much but they do not like my home environment
everything's ok. well, almost everything. there's nothing wrong with the schizophrenus glottalstopus or the el choco bar. enjoy them, i say!
😂
