Gorgeous bike! Served in the Marines in Iwakuni Japan in the early 80's. I brought home a brand new 1985 RM250 when I rotated back to the states. It is still alive and well but has had some plastic, fork seals, reeds, tires, normal wear item replacements. The motor has never been opened and still runs strong.

And I get told by my 4 stroke mates that 2 strokes are unreliable. Don’t ever sell her, she’s a heirloom now… had my banshee 16 yrs now and still on original bore and pistons and my daughter has claimed it as an heirloom 🤘🏻🤣

My neighbor had one, new in spring of '83, I was 11, I remember it messed up our TV signal (we got cable in '84, lol) and it was loud as hell, stock. He had a liquid cooled Rupp Nitro 440 too, lucky bastard. Great memories, thanks, Ken.

I traded a ratted out, shit-bomb Nighthawk 700s for one of these.
It was my first real dirt-bike after an XL350r.
Put it in my Ford Ranger and started really exploring my county.

Nice to see you Riding that Suzuki Racing Machine Ken Kaplan Sr! - that Bike is Clean! I have to admit, that Color combination always stood out and hit in the Face, Saying Look At Me. Of the Original Big 4 from Japan, I never got to ride an RM. Although I rode Suzuki 4 Wheelers growing up. One of my Friends, Richard Kensington had 1985 RM125 , and it was his Best Friend growing up. Looking at that Beauty, it's easy to see why.

I had a 82 250Z here in the UK which was a Holeshot rocket. Unfortunately they mellowed it out for the 83 250D and it was not a Holeshot Rocket anymore. Brings back memories though as it was basically the same bike. Suspension was much better than the competition. Wish i still had it now. 😊
