They are from my home city in Scotland.. this is our second national anthem 🏴
Auchtermuchty? A City???? Dinnae hink so neebs. The twins are born an bred Fifers, aye their faimly is fae Leith, but the boys are Fifers.
The Proclaimers are a Scottish twin brother duo who recorded this song in 1988. I love this catchy tune & remember when it came out. The song was used in the American film "Benny & Joon" in 1993.
You’re right, these Scottish boys definitely kilt it.
😂🙌
😂 well played
You scotta laugh at that
Get out! **points** 🤣
Lol. Thanks for additional laughs.
Now you’ve gotta watch “Benny and Joon,” the film from which that video originated. It’s a very, very good movie… Johnny Depp, Mary Stuart Masterson, Aidan Quinn ALL give phenomenal performances in a quirky little story that’ll be sure to steal your heart… and make you laugh along the way. It’s a touching movie.
This! Thank you 🙏🏽 for suggesting Benny and Joon, fantastic movie 🍿
Yup yup
Play this anywhere you have a load of Brits & immediately & impromptu singalong happens....such a great tune
The brothers are a national treasure of Scotland, and are probably on every pub jukebox in the country. Their songs are noteable from The Shrek movies too.
The proclaimers are a Scottish band made up of the twins Craig and Charles Reid. They were told to lose the Scottish accent to make it. They didn’t and are still going strong
“Going strong” is a pretty generous way to say “one hit wonder”
@therooster3478 they have had more than one hit and I think still touring with 40 years in the industry while releasing new music in the last few years is going strong. Their 2022 album hit #6 in the uk.
1987 Letter from America UK #3
1988 I’m gonna be (500 miles) AUS NZ & NLD #1 UK #11 IRE #14 USA rock #21
1993 King of the Road UK #9 IRE #8
Years ago this song was used for a Molson canadian beer commercial.
The guy walks 500 miles over the rockies to purchase a case and drops it at the border, just to turn around and walk 500 more. Classic
Awww, I want to watch Benny and Joon now!
Me too I think I will 😊
Me too
Highly recommend. It's lovely.
I saw them in a small rock club in late 1988 and it was one of the best gigs of my life.
This song always makes me think of the show "How I met your Mother". Jason Segal's character had this groups cassette tape stuck in his car's tape player and every time there was a scene in his car, this song would be playing in the background. It always made me laugh.
Thanks for posting this Shon. Great reaction.
This song is just pure joy!
Several people at the label told them to sing with less of an accent! They didn't and we got this amazing song!
Proclaimers 500 miles is a great song.
I haven't heard this song in years! Now it's stuck in my head I'll be up half the night 😂😂 Thank you for a great reaction 💙🎶🕊
They are twin brothers!
Such a great catchy song. Check out their song "Jean", another banger!
One of my favorite songs (I have a lot of them). Nice reaction Shon. ❤❤
This is such a fun song!! My golfing buddies and I sing this when we are playing benefit tourneys!! We have fun!!
Always enjoy ur videos bro
keep up the good work!!
Check out the live version (Live Aid) where they play it at home in a stadium ... crowd goes wild from 0-100 in a second!
Now I need to go rewatch “Benny and Joon”. ❤❤❤❤
Love this song so much.
I needed this reaction today in a big way. Lol
🎶👟😁👟🎶
The Proclaimers 😁 are Iconic - Please check out their song "Letters from America" 👍
My introduction to this song was from the movie Benny And Joon. Which you see parts in the music video.
Play this on a road trip. Play it loud ad open the windows because this is so so much fun
Band - Dropkick Murphys, Song/Video - The Boys Are Back
Love them. Love this song. Love "Benny and Joon" where I first heard it. Edit 2: You might like an old movie Called King Ralph. Jogn Goodman sings Duke of Earl at the end of the movie. Blues Brothers of course. Yes, the second one too.
Twins !
I have twin granddaughters , twins are awesome !
If you like the theme of miles, a must listen is "25 miles" from an overlooked Motown singer Edwin Starr. If he sounds great to you, also go for "War"
Da Da Lat Da back to you Shon.
This song took over the world when it came out. They had another hit too but i don't remember it.
I'd love to see you react to Sophie b Hawkins damn I wish I was your lover it's a great song
I LOVE THAT song
The video in this song is from a movie called Benny and June with a very young Johnny Depp
Gotta check their 2nd release ( misery to happiness i liked it more that the first they also have a great story too ❤
If you're ever feeling down, check out "On my Way", one of my all-time favorites!
Great reaction, thanks!
The movie is Benny and Joon with Johnny Depp......very good movie.....and it was grilled cheese sandwiches he was making with the iron !!.....LOL
If you like identical twins you should check out The Peanuts. They were a Japanese Pop duo active from 1959 - 1975. They have music in both Japanese and English. Also, for Godzilla fans, they were the original Mothra fairies. They would sing the song that calmed Mothra. They were known for being slightly off in timbre making it sound like they were double tracking. I like anything they do but Tokyo Blue Rain and Koi no Fuga are a couple of my favorites.
You need to go check out George Benson's "on Broadway" and Robert Cray's "Strong Persuader"..both are fantastic artists that no one plays. Also, Leon Russell's "Lady Blue"
You are a good sport Shon - it’s a different kind of song…but it’s fun!
Movie in the video is Benny and June. Good movie.
Here Come the High Stepper by Ini Kamoze and a really beautiful IMHO love song I Only Have Eyes for You by The Flamingos (1950's, I think).
Loved this song back in the day, love their accents 👍
Please do Jimmy Barnes 🙏
Love the song! I'd forgotten the name of the band. Great choice❤
identical twins charlie and craig reid from my parents city leith in edinburgh are soon to be 63.
the video showing a johnny depp movie(benny and joon)that's quite rare in that his character doesn't have makeup,an elaborate/bright coloured costume and no specially created voice.he does do tricks that buster keaton did though.
they have a british film that uses their songs one of which is the title sunshine on leith.
The lads are actually from Auchtermichty in Fife. Their family left Leith long before they were born.
Loved this Group since i was a young lass in Boston, MA with very Scottish Parents. Boston, J.Giels Aerosmith, The Cars, and Fleetwood Mac were my go to's but the Proclaimers really spoke to my heart, all their songs are worth a listen Sunshine on Leith and Streets of Edinburgh are outstanding. It's awesome watching you explore all the genre's of music thank you!

Absolute banger of a song. "Darren Fletcher" "Darren Fletcher"...super reaction Shon. We have all walked miles for our loved one...maybe not quite 500 miles !!
Twins
Ear worm . Once triggered you will find yourself randomly singing this 👣👣👣👣👣❤
*Reactor freaks out at sight of identical twins!
The video is from the movie Bennie and June. It is a pretty touching movie. Peace, Love!!
Lmao this sh*t just makes me laugh
Was never a fan of this song/group but saw them live (a festival with a bunch of others) 15 yrs back & they were pretty good.
Actually he used the iron to make grilled cheese sandwiches.
Benny & Joon ! This song is in this film which is so good
You should check out the movie Benny and Joon. It's one of Johnny Depp's best performances.
If you don't sing this song in a Scottish accent, you're doing it wrong
I promise, I sing this song in the worst Scottish accent ever.
I recommend Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
Awesome song and used in an awesome film, Benny and Joon - love it!
I've got another band for you , dog eat dog - who's the king , 90's skate rock , wonder what you think of them
Young Johnny Depp
it was grilled cheese sandwiches not pancakes
@shon1303 I'd like to see your reaction to The Proclaimers song Then I Met You. It was nowhere near as popular in the US as I'm Gonna Be (500 miles), but it is another great song by them. They're a good band. They were more popular overseas; it's a shame they are considered a one hit wonder in the US.
They're TWINS
Can i request "Only You" by Portishead please Shon. Thx =)
Great song I remember it well, thanks Shon
Stick with classic rock
It's the theme song from the movie Benny and June with Johnny Depp who is in the video. Great movie, check it out
I saw Benny & Joon in theaters. Taking me back seeing the video.
One of the very few, just fun songs that are actually good.
Wonderful film. One of the most romantic, IMO. And he's making grilled cheese with the iron.
The first time I heard this song (well before it was used in Benny and Joon) , it led me to immediately go out and purchase the album that it’s from “Sunshine on Leith”. While most people know this song , they’re not familiar with the rest of the album , which is a shame , because Sunshine on Leith is still one of my favourite albums of all time.
please react to Van Halen - Eruption guitar solo ua-cam.com/video/L9r-NxuYszg/v-deo.html&pp=ygUSZXJ1cHRpb24gdmFuIGhhbGVu since I believe you love guitar solos
❤❤❤LOVE THIS SONG AND VIDEO WITH JOHNNY DEPP BENNY & JOON! WATCH IT SHON!!! I KNOW YOU WOULD LOVE IT! ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES!! AND IM 64 and WATCHED A TON OF MOVIES AND STILL GO BACK TO WATCH THIS MOVIE IF I NEED TO SMILE!! YOU WONT REGRET IT! (sorry for all the caps! I just know your personality and didn’t want you to miss out!)
