3 Ima Chandani, Rice Planting Song, of Kakching. sung in the paddy fields.

This is a special and rare song which the woman sung as they were planting rice in the paddy. Songs like this are now no longer done and have now disappeared in their original form. The performer is Ima Yehkhom Chandani Leima who was 86 years old at the time of these recordings in Dec. 2014. We did a recording session where Ima remembers some of the songs from her youth. Today many songs are being forgotten and it is only the elder folks of the villages who retain them. Perhaps Ima Chandani is the only person left who remembers this song.
