  • Fortune Town at the Rama 9 MRT station, answers the question, where to buy Bangkok Electronics. You can find anything from laptops, cell phones, record players, cameras and everything electronic. It's also a great place to get anything repaired.
    Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

      Hey thanks for the input. Yes, I think I need to get myself in gear for that. I need to figure out a formula everyone might be comfortable with. Not get into personal business, but still be interesting. I'm not a Zoom guy, but maybe I can interview people preparing to move over and interview them again once they arrived. Everyone ends up back in Bangkok at some point. Or back on Zoom. I'll come up with a few ideas.
      Maybe I'll say hello when I come up with a few ideas. Maybe I can interview you. Are you planning to move over or maybe visit?

      @@EagerExpat You can consider some of my ideas to identify your ideal guest typecast:
      Option A: Interesting expats living already in Thailand - people with interesting/irregular jobs, business owners, or cool hobbies (like flying general aviation/sailing). Every person can share some down-to-earth tips based on his/her expertise that can be relevant to everybody.
      Option B: People who are moving to Thailand. You can divide it into three parts - before the move, after, and a few months later. Everyone has a different story about why they decided to move to Thailand.
      We can brainstorm additional ideas. About me, I'm planning to move around November. Just finalizing some visa documents.

    This Fortune town looks great. I found some things in Thailand are really in expensive and some more expensive than buying back home, Thailand is 240 volt and good audio is allways super heavy to bring back home but hard to resist when your in that Bangkok holliday super excited mode that just washes over you the minute you walk out of that airport into the action. That mall looks super clean.

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  Місяць тому

      I'm with you Steve. I live here and every time I arrive at the airport, I feel like I'm back home. I just flew in last night. The heat coming out of the airport doors. Maybe it reminds me of flying into Vegas. I felt that heat and knew I was in for a good time.
      You are correct about the pricing. I'm doing better at finding sale items. Plus, most of the malls do a huge sale around the holidays. And what they call the mid-year sale in July. Almost everyone has 30%, 40% and 50%. I got some Adidas regular price 7500b for 1500b.

    For some of your old timers like me most of the electronic shops that used to be at Pan tip have moved to fortune town. Pan tip now a sterile food court . After living in Bangkok for six years, I don’t go to either. I just pay up at the higher end malls. because I can I don’t want to pay two times, if you get my drift😂

      Ha ha, I hear ya. Some of the small shops have some characters. But it's a good place to compare prices. The DJI mics I got were not at any PowerMall. The DJI store only pushes the 2024 model. Stores like Big Camera and the large camera store I bought them from are an easy price comparison. I didn't save much, maybe 400b. But that's a few pints. Ha ha. Ya Pantip is more a food court these days. It was wild back in the day.

      Me too. This place has a hundred stores to check out. Plus, they can repair anything. Or "fix" that firestick to receive 10,000 channels. Fix that "non-replaceable" battery on that 4 year old iPhone that still works fine. Negotiate the best price. I'll make it up, he might say 800b for a battery. You walk away and he'll say ok, 500b. That's usually for the cheapest Chinese battery. Although many of these $1200 phones come with a Chinese battery. Once he says 500b, you ask how much for the better Panasonic (whatever) Japanese battery. He'll say 600b. Much better than starting the conversation with "how much for the best battery" For you sir 1100b.

    I enjoyed that. I wished I had of know that electronics place was there when I was in Bangkok. At least I will know for my visit next year. Also..Just wondering? You mentioned previously purchasing a computer chair. If you take the BTS or MRT home, how would you get the chair or anything big like that back to your place? Do they deliver smaller items like that? If so, how much is delivery of store items like that? Thanks.

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  29 днів тому +1

      Thanks for watching Steve. When I purchase something large, I usually order a large SUV on Grab/Bolt. I send a fast message to the driver. I'm by myself with a large carpet, etc.. I've did that four or five times. Only one time was I cancelled and another car came 5 minutes later. There is also an app called LaLa move. You can order a moto-bike up to a very large enclosed truck. You take a picture of the item and people bid on the job. You can schedule pick up now, or a later date. It's really cheap. I used La La move to move to my new condo. You also have the option to pay a little more to have the driver haul the product to the truck and upstairs to the condo.
      But, Grab is my go-to. If I move, I'll schedule La La. I just bought a larger living room chair at Ikea. The large SUV was 280b to go the 1 mile home. You also have to be careful at the condo. Most don't allow "moving" past (I don't know) 6:00pm? I got this chair at 9:30pm. My guards ran over and carried the chair to the service elevator. When I'm in 7/11 once a month or so, I grab a few Cokes for the guards. A little kindness goes a long way, when you move a chair at 9:30pm

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  Місяць тому +1

      Hey Andy. I'm not sure on the refurbished. I think my AIS store had certified refurbished models. Those shops at Fortune are more selling used models. Many people like to get the newest phone every year. They will trade in the S23 the second the S24 comes out. I think the S25 is almost out. A decent S22 is probably less than 10k? I paid 50K (I think) when it came out. Maybe a small crap shoot on a used phone. But, if you find a good honest shop, you'll probably be fine. Plus, if you took it home and the battery wears out in 3 hours, I'd bet money they will put in a new "un-fixable" battery in minutes. Some may even give a short warranty. And 10K might be one crazy night in Cowboy. Ha ha.

    • @No_Strings
      @No_Strings Місяць тому

      @EagerExpat thanks Joe, S22 refurb might be a little cheaper in the UK. I picked up the S24+ earlier in the year, i normally upgrade every 3 years. It's definitely a step up, but there's only so much they can do. The S25 ultra will be released on Feb / March next year. I wouldn't be surprised to buy outright will be around 60k Baht, depending on memory config. It'll again be the flag ship. Unless there's something wrong with your current model, I'd hang on for maybe some better price offers...

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  29 днів тому +1

      @@No_Strings Ya well see. I might get the S24 Ultra when the S25 comes out. I usually do ok with the 250g. I upload my video every time I shoot. So maybe 20-30g of 1080. I'm still not happy with the 4k. The camera overheats at 30 minutes. The low light is horrible even holding still. It's great in a nice lighted a/c room. But not so great for my street views.
      I also have 2 GoPro 11's I don't use. They overheat even in 1080. I also bought an expensive low light Sony lens for my plane spotting channel I used to have. I'm to lazy to carry all that around. Plus the batteries last about 20 minutes. I went to use it the other day. I had 7 Chinese (Amazon) batteries. Stored in battery boxes, 4 of them swelled up just enough to not go into the camera anymore. So for now the Samsung seems to be getting the job done. If I can just hold still at night, it looks decent. I still catch myself panning. Especially after a few pints. Ha ha
