The Bee Gees were an absolute musical legend! What a tragedy that we lost Maurice and Robin so early. All of these performances were live, which they were never afraid to do. None of your nancy-boy lip syncing like modern artists. These guys were true professionals and I salute their talent!

Over the years there have been great musical groups of various genres that have produced beautiful songs that will never die. I think we all agree that today this is no longer the case; at least for the past 10/15 years.
The Bee Gees were undoubtedly one of the groups with the greatest talent, variety of songs, communicability that really linked the world in a truly united place, where we all sang the very same songs together. The Bee Gees took the brunt of the disco backlash that swept through the country as the Bee Gees were finishing the decade at the peak of their super stardom. Radio stations across the nation started having Bee Gees free weekends in 1980. For the Bee Gees, the stigma that was against them made it impossible for them to record their own music and sell records. Their 1981 album release, Living Eyes, had a very different sound that featured studio musicians instead of the band members from the 1975-1979 albums. The idea to keep writing songs and have other artists performing them was not only brilliant move but also necessary to keep their music career from ending. It wasn't until 1987 with the release of ESP and the chosen single YOU WIN AGAIN the Gibb brothers were being accepted again. The success of the 1988 album One had been intended for an introduction of Andy Gibb into the group, album intended to be called All For One had ended up being a tribute to the younger brother they had lost.

Bee Gees were very influential in the 80's music scene. 1980 Guilty by Barbra Streisand, 1982 Heartbreaker by Dionne Warwick, 1983 Eyes That See In The Dark by Kenny Rogers, and 1986 Eaten Alive by Diana Ross were all Barry Gibb productions, the 3 brothers having written nearly all the tracks together, Barry on guitar and singing backing vocals and providing horn section arrangements on all 4 albums. Maurice played bass, synthesizer and backing vocals for Kenny's album which includes Islands In The Stream duet with Dolly Parton. In 1980, Barry did 2 duets with Barbra on her album, Guilty and What Kind Of Fool. All 4 albums were recorded at the brothers Middle Ear Studios in Miami with Barry and his production team at the helm. Michael Jackson did backing vocals and cowrote the title track on Diana Ross's Eaten Alive.

No instrument on hearth can duplicate the DNA involved in 3 brothers singing together. No band since has done as well and their song writing was fabulous. Sandra I am 71 and only now really appreciate the Gibb story and talent as I do now. They are timeless. Very hard to be !!!
