I must confess, even as a Catholic, I have had doubts as to the reality of Satan as a personal power or malign and active spiritual force. Today, I was watching an excellent YT video on the publication of Evelyn Waugh's book on the English Elizabethan martyr and priest, Edmund Campion (1540-1581) [link provided below] The talk is given by a Professor Gerard Kilroy. During the course of his talk, Prof Kilroy also made reference to Graham Greene's book 'The Lawless Roads' which is an account of the brutal suppression of the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico in the late 20s. Greene, who visited Mexico in 1938, included in his book the press photographs of the execution of a young Mexican priest, Fr. Miguel Pro, in 1927. Fr. Pro refused a blindfold and after praying, extended his arms as if on a cross before being shot dead. I really like that poem. Thanks for sharing. I once was compelled to write a poem about a deer I saw on the road side, obvious roadkill. It was about the raven who consumed the deer and so the deer became part of the raven and then experienced flight and far sight.
Good morning. I have expected more from You, Sir, than this discussion of darkness without first illuminating the subject matter. Light breaks the darkness dense night. Always. We recognize darkness and density and evil/negative polarity. But we know that in this world we have to raise above it- even when we see it- because we must stay in the light. It doesn’t help to recognize darkness then stay contemplating it. We need scholarly and wise insight, not a repeat of what any UA-camr says. AI can also be turned into light. We must choose it- purposely, coherently and consistently. Don’t fear it- because you then succumb to the denial of Self.
I love your show, Michael, glad I found it. I like you solemn but light style of presentation, no bs but a lot of presence. Maybe because you are a fellow poet … Im a danish poet and have found - especially over the last couple of years - that poetry IS the primary substance, the logos if you will that shapes Reality and your own self more importantly. Good old PB Shelley hhaught me that in the essay A Defence of Poertry. Anyways - thanx!
Thanks so much, I think the antidote is to stay in Touch, and I mean touch, with the Real. I’m hopeful that the Real will become so much more salient to us. I hope and pray that the world actually begins to become more beautiful again, call me crazy:)
Covid was horrific. I saw how quickly people could adapt to and accept totalitarianism. When a new-hire colleague was introduced to me, he attempted to bump elbows instead of shaking hands, which turned my stomach. I lost any illusions on my fellow men.
Hey Michael ! Downloaded a stack of your videos. ..........Michael ........have you been given some kind of what tribal folk would call a " medecine' ? Cause theres something a bit magical about your delivery . I dont even hear half the words but theres a peacefulness in your voice . One ttime i was patching a hole in a guys house who was from India . Saw him crouched in front of a 2 foot by 2foot wooden ornamental box with something stuck on his forehead and he seemed to be praying . He looked at me and genuinely smiled . As i left the house i noticed there was peace in the place . First and last time i noticed that . Except for now .
Gary Snyder is still with us, btw. 94 years old. The Library of America published his "Collected Poems" in 2022. Definitely some commonality with Wendell Berry who is 90 years old. I'm a bit more partial to Berry.
Thanks Michael. I have been considering of late how will Ahriman make his worldly appearance to the masses? How will he "physically" come? One scenario I believe possible is that he "will come on the clouds". that is the "holographic clouds" created through AI... I believe that humanity is being prepared for this so we will accept it as THE reality and very normal, probably through drones and drone shows and light shows that are popular here in Australia in summer time.
