The very great Margaret Barry, she was a very special person a very great singer, I recall hearing Margaret Barry saying whilst listening to my mother's radio she tuned into RTE, may the souls of Margaret Barry and my dear departed grandmother rest in eternal peace in heaven
My great grandparents were Irish Gypsies . I know very little of them except that my great grandmother was a herbalist, had second sight and smoked a clay pipe ..she would break off the stem of it though before using it ..she fascinates me ..Lovely to hear your Grandmother sing she had a beautiful voice.
Hey Ronan, its nice to know that her descendents are here listening to her music, have you come across Lisa O'Neill yet? I'm figuring you possibly live in Ireland.. she's an Irish woman who was influenced by your grandma, I'm sure you'll like Lisa's music too"
Margaret Barry a mighty woman and a mighty voice. Banjo on my side is my favorite. Love to listen to her when she is singing with Pecker Dunne who also is another mighty Man ..

We had her record An Irish Tinker Lady about 1958 or so. My mom and dad loved it. My mom was from Kerry. My father was a "Yank", but was in Ireland for 4 years studying Gaelic. My mom moved up to Brookline MA, and Margaret Barry performed there some time during the 70's. My mom was thrilled with her.
