- After months of building we finally finished the World's smallest and fastest street legal Yamaha YSR 80 Motorcycle! This little motorcycle was imported from Japan and is over 30 years old! It only took me a day before I blew up the engine going down the highway. We got it running again and now we are going to battle it against some other bikes!

tip for long distance riding for two stroke engine, do not red line it for long time and set the carburator for the spec, your piston have a hole in it, it's mean it doesn't get enough fuel and you need to put larger main jet in the carb and do a test run then read the sparkplug you want your sparkplug have brown to black colour and wet
They are barely a bike shop let alone have one qualified mechanic

the spark plug was most likely of a rating too hot and thats why it made a hole in the center

This isn’t running right in those dig races... it sounds like it’s down on power. If the engine was healthy, it should be very hard to keep the front wheel down in the first couple gears.
I mean we have a y85 yamaha and that f*cker hits harder than our honda 250, so you know either that engine is down on power or he is doing it on purpose for. . You know. . For the video and stuff.
@@trishaerra2957 when I was a kid, I had an older kx80 and first few gears would power wheelie. I was young but I remember that thing hauling butt also. I think if the engine was healthy, he would have kept it lol

It’s in a heavier frame and body than a dirt bike and the smaller wheels and smaller bike itself make the engine work harder while it isn’t going as fast
You guys are forgetting one main thing- its gear box and the ratios. Yall are mostly talking about lil dirt bikes and stuff designed for low end torque. This was designed for top speed. Not low end take off

If that was a g or a h YZ 80 motor it should fly ! Even a 78 YZ80E (my 1st bike) it would go way quicker than that. I hope that they know that pipes are designed from the porting ?? Maybe not after the carb thing ?

So the YSR 50cc was the first one they made then the YSR80.
We use to put IT 175cc motors in the YSR50s man did they go crazy fast like hwy speeds amd then we use to race them at a track in Whitby Ontario Canada i believe it was the biggest outdoor go kart track in north America.

Cool! Ran a quarter Midget at Sandy Hook back around 1992! Ran weekly at Honey Brook, PA, but went to Sandy Hook to get a little road course experience.
That old YSR 80 engine's countershaft was probably spinning faster than the countershaft of the YZ80. I'd like to see you run it with a larger rear sprocket. What year YZ80 engine was it?

and it had been running super lean before

I remember as a kid, when the ysr50 came out. Someone from Lynnwood Yamaha came by with one to show my brother, who he raced flat track with.
I have 2 YSR bikes. One if them has a derbi GPR 75 motor. Liquid cooled and very fast. I think a better choice than the blaster or YZ 80 motor. Street legal too.. thanks for sharing the video. Very cool channel!

We used to race these Yamaha’s in Denmark. I believe it makes around 6-8 hp stock. Topspeed around 70-80 km/h. Costing price around $12-1500.
In Japan, pump gas is 100 sometimes 102 octane rating and that bike was built to run on that. You burnt the piston because you put U.S gas in it without a retune.

The carb settings probably werent adjusted properly and thats why the piston got a hole in it.

Love the ysr. For awhile there was a big following racing them. I knew guys that races r1s but spent more time bashing elbows.
I will say though more rare and certainly slower is the suzuki gsxr50. 50cc 4t...good luck finding one.

The problem was jetting and exhaust. First you schould alwys chek the sparkplug on these 2 Strokes and if the elcetrode is white it is running lean and will blow up or if its brown that means its perfect und if its black its to rich and wont have power. The other thing is that you put the stock exhaust on a yz 80 motor. A 2 Stroke exhaust is mached to the porting of the cylinder and therfore will only run optimal with the stock exhaust of the motor it came from.
I was wondering why it never "gets on the pipe".... there's no expansion chamber to engage. LOL That explains everything.
Becaus the stock engine was 50cc and now it has 80 the pipe has to little volume.
It was a ysr 80cc to begin with not a 50cc, it blew up cause he pinned it wide open on the street

I still have my ysr....yz 80 motor modified with the stock ysr oiler so I don't have to pre mix. Also stuck in the stock ysr lighting coil.

Its ebay trolls that do it to all UA-camrs that make videos about thier eBay listing. Anyone can make an account and place a crazy high bid, win and then never pay. Then the seller has to replace back for auction or most times a fixed selling price

I'd like to see him get it running right, put new tires on it, then on a dry day take it to the track and say he wants to sell it! Cuz I had some of most fun as a adult racing around gocart tracks and parking lots on one of these! Stock and with a water cooled yz85 motor!
