70.3 New York could of used this video a week ago!
I've had a few Tri's in heavy wind with pouring rain. I saw it as an advantage for me, as I've done so many road races in my day in rainy conditions, that it only helped me in my transition to triathlon in bad conditions. Toe covers on your shoes is a great way to help against cold, and gloves. Other than that on a tri, there's not much else.
Windy and rainy isn't always a bad thing. As long as the conditions are safe enough us brits can capitalise of the bad weather... it's in our blood!
#gtncoachescorner This was posted in the last five coach's corners videos that didn't get answered: A question for Heather, Mark and James. Have any of you tried red light therapy? Red light therapy has been well known for aiding in both recovery and injuries. I was wondering if GTN could make a video on this, I don't recall this ever being addressed in any previous videos. It is a definite game changer in speeding up both recovery and injuries. Thank you!
Kinetic One have 42mm deep Alu wheels, reall good and durable
#gtncoachescorner Heather, Mark, and James thanks for all the great advice. I am looking to get my first tt/Triathlon bike on the used market. I was wondering how old is too old for a triathlon bike? I'm looking to mostly benefit from the improved position. I've seen some from the early 2000s and was wondering if frame/body geometry had changed. Or if anything else major that would discount an older bike, other than aero improvements or number of gears. As for tech 2x9 or later should word for me. Thanks!
At IM 70.3 WC, the bike bag had to be checked in the day before. Which meant you had to make decision about any possible warm clothes need for bike, the day before.

First and foremost, love all the content and all of you as presenters.
I come from a running background and now getting into triathlon. I'm hoping to PR in the marathon in Feb and then do a 70.3 in April/May. I am quite weak on the bike though. Any ideas on how I can make power gains without compromising my running training too much? Time is not an issue and neither is swimming since it's no impact. Thanks in advance! For reference, I am currently doing one running interval, one threshold, 2 easy runs and one long run at the moment with one hard ride session during the week and a long ride on the weekend with 2 easy bike sessions.
#gtncoachscorner i got a pretty specific question. I just finished my first sprint & signed up for a olympic race next year. I also race road races from time to time. Right now i am looking for a new bike but most modern road bikes are equipped with an aero cockpit which doesn‘t allow for clip on aero bars. I am not willing to go for a tri specific bike (at this point) but rather for a top tier road bike for both forms of racing… Any tips?
Breathe Heather 🙃
I don’t know why all 3 presenters seem to race breathlessly through some of these videos. They’ve been doing it long enough. I was always told “imagine you’re just having a conversation with someone ….”
What are the worst race conditions you’ve ever had to endure? 🌧
IM70.3 NY this past Saturday! My first 70.3 had bands of a tropical storm coming through bringing winds of 25-35mph with 40+mph gusts and plenty of rain all day. The swim was shortened to 750M. Nice way to experience one's first 70.3! Thankful to have made it through unscathed, and can't argue with a decent time (5:12:07). 😅
@@willfromfreeport That’s because you were racing while a tropical storm was rolling through. So you can check off “Racing in tropical storm almost hurricane” off your list of achievements. 😂
70.3 Weymouth earlier this year....
Last weekend’s Ironman 70.3 Weymouth. We had amber storm warnings, thunder and lightning, swim cancelled, and I’m still drying my riding gear.
The the second half of the mens Lahti 70.3 WC bike-course was lined with warm-climate athletes not prepared for the conditions, standing under space-blankets waiting for the SAG-wagons to come pick them up. It was 11 degrees C, rain and wind...
Off topic question, why are cyclist assholes? Like there’s videos of them annoying people and we all know the stereotype. I’m wondering don’t wanna offend for once (not joking)
Plenty of people are assholes, so some individuals in any group will be. These videos you talk of, are the people getting annoyed impatient entitled drivers by any chance?
