Awesome video, thanks for the tips! Especially the energy saving at the start of the swim by not treading water, that will for sure help. Especially for the ones like myself that literally lose 50% of my energy on nerves alone. 4/5 days out and i'm already hitting the toilet every hour or so 😂
@@triathlon_ross It's a great event to spectate. Although I did it in 2008 (the rain year), I'm purely a short-course guy these days. Short, local, hard and often. Here's my Roth video: ua-cam.com/video/lXcBNUmB0XE/v-deo.html
Great video even tho im not going. maybe one day! Tips so useful I reckon they should link this to the athlete guide or have to watch it as a briefing. Interesting what u said about the GPS playing up suppose why other metrics are useful. Do you find pace the most useful on the run vs say HR or run power?
Thanks for the feedback 👍 I always have a goal pace, but tbh I rely on HR the most. Especially, in a long distance triathlon, you can never predict what pace you will be running in that marathon no matter how much prep you do 😂
@@triathlon_ross The penalty loop was a thing in France for many years. Something like 250m extra metres for Sprint and 500m for Olympic. Often near the finish line. They got rid of it a few years ago. Happened to me twice.
Thanks for the helpful video. See you @roth 2024 😎
I’m it there this year 👍👍
Thanks Ross! I'd better buy Liz some flowers on the way home then :D
She will need more then flowers…..

No problem mate!! Plenty of toilets at Roth race morning 😂😂 Have a great day!! It really is a special race!! 👍
Quality this Ross buzzing for my first full distance there next weekend should be interesting the final 10k of the run :)
Have a good one mate. It’s amazing race!! I will be tracking you 👍
Great tips, thanks Ross
Thanks, glad it was useful 👍
Excellent tips Ross. I'm arriving on Friday. Just watching though.
I’m on dog sitting duty this weekend or I would have been there to watch.

Great tips, great event would only give a 8 out 10 ,we found a bit of a nightmare with logistics & getting round on the day for my other half
Fair, my mother walked the equivalent to a marathon when supporting 😂
@@triathlon_ross yeah can imagine 😂
Not doing Roth, but this was brilliant, thanks Ross
Thanks 👍👍
Great tips Ross - thank you. I got a place for Roth next year🥳. How was it getting to the race in the morning - is traffic an issue?
Congrats!! I don’t remember it being an issue, but I’m famous for being first one there in the morning. It is a large event, just leave enough time.
Awesome vid 👍🏼👍🏼 some people say the swim is quick as it’s downstream but it’s both directions? So I don’t get that.
Yes it’s the same distance both ways, and it’s a canal with locks so no current…. It’s shallow in places which people say makes it’s faster 👍
Cheers mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Friday AM swim practice
For this year? This was made last year 👍
@@triathlon_ross every year... 2022, 2023, 2024
Maybe Saturday also... but defo Friday
I think the 1km penalty is not anymore. I heard there are only time penalties
Oh really, it was 100% there last year. Shame if they have got rid of it.
@@triathlon_ross yes they changed it. Minute 3 of Felix Update Video:

@@triathlon_rossTo be honest, I am happy that they get rid of it. Not hoping to get a penalty on sunday, but of I would rather take the minutes
