Sir Christopher Lee talking is a masterpiece in itself. He was born to play Saruman, even though he dreamed of playing Gandalf; but I think him being playing Saruman was enough for him to last for a life time until he crossed over to the undying lands. Board away by white ships, seeing the rain curtain of this world roll back, and all turned to silver glass. Then sees white shores and a far green country under a swift sunrise
Am I the only one thinking that he'd have made the best DM in the existence of the universe? _You see, as you enter the circular chamber, a tall pale wizard. As he climbs the steps leading up to an ornate black throne, he turns around before exclaiming, "These clothes are a menace!"_
Christopher Lee did more in one lifetime than any of us could have in 5: he was a war hero, a real-life 007, Dracula, a Sith Lord, an OG Wizard, a Bond villain, and a metal singer. I dare you to try to get 1/3 of that on your CV before you kick the bucket. You can't.
I was employed as one of the Elves, in the Hobbit back in 2011 when travelling with a friend in a camper through New Zealand. It was a fantastic, fantastic experience and I will never forget it. For just a few scenes in the trilogy, I personally had to go on set for over 6 months, so you get an idea of just how much work goes into it all! I remember, particularly, meeting the gentleman in the glasses (who starts talking at 1:03) when in the canteen one day. We only spoke a few sentences, but he had an amazing calmness around him and was so humble considering his role as principal cameraman in both LOTR and The Hobbit. He sadly passed away a couple of years later, I believe
I would have given literally my life savings to have had a thirty minute lunch with Christopher Lee. He seemed like a nice guy to be around, he could Read an airplane instruction manual in that voice and somehow he would have my full attention. The man was an absolute badass. He met Tolkien, and served in WWII and corrected Jackson on the way a man sounded when he gets stabbed.
This makes me so happy. I know there was some tension between Peter and Christopher when his scene was cut out from The Return of The King. It's good to see them become friends again before Christopher's passing.
For Ian McKellen it was revisiting the shorter part of Gandalf the Grey, which he preferred, but for Christopher Lee it was creating something we hadn't seen: Saruman before he became bad, the person Gandalf was so happy to see.
I'm 3 years late, but yes! He wasn't even featured in the in memoriam reel at the oscars the following year. Not that the oscars are actually important or anything, but forgetting an oscar winning director of photography, who filmed the greatest trilogy ever? Weak.

The day my friend and his grandmother took me to see the third Hobbit movie, she said gravely, "That's his last film," and she launched into a lengthy anecdote of Sir Christopher's film legacy from Dracula to Dooku. I said, "Wow, if he died tomorrow, he'd still have immortal praise." He died a little while after that and one of my greatest regrets is that I never got a chance to sit and listen to his stories. He played protagonists and antagonists so impressively. I miss the Legend. Played two of my favourite villains
The way he still remembers the he can't get up the bloody steps -part makes me almost teary. idk just shows how movies arent just gigs they're amazing life experiences and he clearly treasured working in LOTR and still happy to be Saruman, I'm suddenly just feeling a massive sense of loss

Man, if Christopher Lee was still alive, I would’ve love to have had him over for dinner just to hear his life story.

Christopher Lee , what a man, what a sport. You can see when he was filming in London how much he slowed down. To came back at that stage of his life to do this part. I mean what a man, God Bless Him. Rest In Peace. A true legend.
Amen.
How can anyone dislike this??
RIP Christopher Lee
watcha want then?

probably gandalf
Gandalf, the Hobbits and the Ents all made accounts just to dislike
Those who disliked this are total idiots who never achieved squat in their miserable existence.
Sir Christopher lee:
- a son
- a Sith Lord
- dark wizard
- dentist guy who hates lollypops
- Count Dracula
What a great life

Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
RIP Christopher Lee
If only
That was a speech by Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen). Saruman would have just said "die you bastards".
Thank You.
White horses.... Thats death itself
Yes but Saruman was evil so he went to Tolkiens version of Hell whatever that is.
Why didn't he became Gandalf before?
@@alexanderwindh4830I think because he was already very old when the first lotr was being shot, so he couldn't do everything Gandalf needed to do
Am I the only one thinking that he'd have made the best DM in the existence of the universe?
_You see, as you enter the circular chamber, a tall pale wizard. As he climbs the steps leading up to an ornate black throne, he turns around before exclaiming, "These clothes are a menace!"_
I always keep a Christopher Lee voice in my back pocket when I'm DMing or reading a story.
Admit it, you read this in his voice.
@@Pumpkin525 there’s no other way to read it
When Saruman starts talking about his time fighting the Germans. lol
"There were great many in the forests of Doi'Tshalant."
(Exept the proper pronounciation would be Doi'Tshlant, without the second A)
i know right, it all sounds like an epic legend
Peter Jackson should direct a biopic of Sir Christopher Lee’s life. It’d be more epic than the Lord of the Rings
The problem there is people would want whoever played him to have that iconic voice, and his voice was one of a kind.
@@mercurydude maybe Johnny Depp, who was his friend.
@@mercurydude Only actor I can think of who has the same kind of presence and voice is Charles Dance.
A documentary would be more suitable. It would be a really difficult film to get right
@@mercurydudeI thought maybe like 'Patrick Stewart' could take a shot. Similar age, comparable voice, and kind of similar nose..
Hell with Lord of the Rings an the Hobbit. They should have just filmed Christopher Lee telling stories for 4 hours a pop. Make millions.
You can't.
Yea I kicked the bucket easily than doing all of that
Great post and so very true.
In fairness all the real life 007 and war hero stuff was made up.
Thanks for the inspiration and support mate
The thing that sucks is he wasn't able to see the new star wars movies. Wish he would've seen those before he died
It would start off as a 30 minute lunch then extend to at least 1:30
A consummated and regal actor. So good that he wasn't stereotyped as Dracula for life. Rest in Peace, Sir. God bless you.
Amen.
This makes me so happy. I know there was some tension between Peter and Christopher when his scene was cut out from The Return of The King. It's good to see them become friends again before Christopher's passing.
I was thinking the same. So glad.
Christopher Lee was around 88 years old when they filmed The Hobbit btw
For Ian McKellen it was revisiting the shorter part of Gandalf the Grey, which he preferred, but for Christopher Lee it was creating something we hadn't seen: Saruman before he became bad, the person Gandalf was so happy to see.
He was a kind of person, who really loved, and valued his life, and others.
Shame he was a Tory tosser.
"He is Sir Christopher Lee, so your kneeling is aproriate, thank you."
R.I.P. You amazing person.
''Well- I wasn't going to bring that up-- Not in public.''
Jesus. That had me howling.
No it didn't.
Quick witted even at his age. Bless his soul.
Also, RIP Andrew Lesnie. He also past away a month ago and people didn't recognise it. You can see him in this video, too.
I'm 3 years late, but yes! He wasn't even featured in the in memoriam reel at the oscars the following year. Not that the oscars are actually important or anything, but forgetting an oscar winning director of photography, who filmed the greatest trilogy ever? Weak.

Alongside Peter Cushing, Sir Christopher is one of my most beloved actors. A classic gentleman, a silver screen legend, and a master of his craft. I would have loved to have been able to spend an evening with him, talking over dinner, and just enjoying the stories he’d tell. RIP Sir Christopher.
Such a humble yet he radiates of wisdom, respect and authority at the same time. He must've been one hell of a person.
Besides of the awesomess fo his acting...He is the true fan, He read the books a long... long time ago, he loved the LOTR universe and I think he even meet J.R.R Tolkien... and then years an years after he conquer the everest of any fan... HE IS IN THE FILMS of his loved ephic and fantastic universe of Middle Earth... I LOVE HIM!! I scream in the movies in his scene of th Battle of the five armies
R.I.P. Sir Christopher Lee
My great-uncle is 92 or 93, and he's so spry. He goes bowling at least once a week. It's crazy.

Sadly I'm not religious, I wish I was so I had peace of mind, but my mind works very logically and I need too see for myself to believe.
Silver Mirai I'm not religious either, that was a quote spoken by Gandalf in The Return of the King, considering the nature of the video I thought it was a good reference.

RIP Sir Christopher Lee. Much loved and much missed! An amazing man and a brilliant actor!
When he walked onto the set in “those damned clothes” my heart jumped and I thought “why aren’t they all bowing to him?”! That’s the sign of a great actor, when you believe the character immediately and even without thinking. RIP Christopher Lee.

I know,, very sad the world lost a true TITAN
charlesdcw1990 To be exact, he was 6ft 5.
pikppa He was the tallest actor to be in a leading role (tied with Vince Vaughn). I mean there have been much taller people like Andre the Giant who has appeared in films but they only had small parts and were cast mostly for their size rather than acting abilities.
we lost another great actor... it's very sad...

He maybe gone but he's reunited with his best friend Peter Cushing
That man is one of the people who I can truly say actually LIVED life. What a human being. I always wanted to meet him, but closest I ever got was an e-mail from him. Incredibly well-spoken and dignified even in texting. Enjoy your rest, friend. Know that you live on in our minds, our hearts and our spirits for all eternity. It's never "goodbye", it's "we'll see you later" :)
R.I.P Christopher Lee.
Your legendary career, both on and off the screen, shall never be forgotten.
Lee was 90 years old When he filmed Hobbits, Such a legend. He also got blessings from Tolkein himself to play Gandalf but for his age he couldn't he was almost 80 during LOTR but anyway Saruman's role was also phenomnal.
@Qboid It would have been epic, anyways its still great.
People like Christopher Lee are like a priceless treasure you cannot buy. Him talking about the past are stories you are never going to hear again. Rip, Sir.
Such a powerhouse performer and we will never again see or hear anything new from him because he’s gone now. To have met him in person would have been the thrill of a lifetime. Pain is temporary but film is forever. My youngest son has now really invested in watching them with me for the first time.
I just came here to pay my respects to a legend... Rest in Peace Sir Christopher Lee and thank you for everything almighty leader of Isengard and Dark Lord of the Sith!
This is why villains are usually the best roles to play, because actors like Christopher Lee embody the character so well and everyone remembers said role. Yeah the hero is fun and all and there is a sense of honour in playing a hero, but villains are always the most memorable part of these stories. RIP Christopher Lee, we will never forget you and your amazing career, and especially your awesome life!
I really wanted to hear Christopher's story about the war. I love meeting people who have done so much in life. You can learn so much and draw so much inspiration. Lee did it all! What a guy!
I think a lot of it is still classified.
Sir Christopher Lee is truly and amazing actor! He looks so fragile in that scene. You could tell he didn’t have long left. I have go admire the fact that money doesn’t even matter to this guy at this moment in time. He just came to do what he loves “acting” what a legacy he left behind! Rip Sir Christopher Lee❤️
I'm so glad that after the fight they had with the cinema cut of Return of the King, they worked together again.
one of the few men ever lived, who every time he talks, you just stop what u r doing and listen to whatever comes out of his mouth, with a smile on your face
It's funny how Christipher Lee played characters that were villains that were once good. Count Dooku who was once a Jedi and Saruman once a middle-earth White Wizard to a follower of Sauron. He played protagonists and antagonists so impressively. I miss the Legend. Played two of my favourite villains
